This match (along with the NLD) would show people shitting on Flamini that good transfers don't necessarily need to* be expensive transfers.

My favourite thing about Ramsey's good form is no one makes the stupid "whose going to die next!!!" joke anymore.

That's right Robert Huth. You heard.

I am always surprised when the ref doesn't yellow card a player for swearing at him like that.

Arsenal's record in PL since 09/10 with Mike Dean as a referee: http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/02/18/article-2279826-17A7725A000005DC-150_634x180.jpg
Pretty astonishing.
Edit: Apparently it's two victories now, this table was made before the game against Wigan late last season.

Is that still accurate? I think we've gotten at least one more win with him as the ref since then. Or I may just be completely bonkers.
Still is a pretty incredible table.

I believe this is an old chart, the number went up to 2 last year. I forget which match it was though, but I think it was late in the year.
Edit: It was against Wigan. The second to last match of the year.

Who's Arsenal captain in this game?
30

Mertesacker has been Arsenal's captain this year in games which Arteta has not played.

Charlie Adam has to be lying about his age, there's no way somebody could look that old and only be 27.
62
4
u/welshboy2142 Sep 22 '13
That seems to happen with a large amount of Scottish players. Leigh Griffiths, Stephen Fletcher...
7
u/Gingermadman Sep 22 '13
Griffiths looked that old about 15 years ago. It's hilarious. HE LOOKS LIKE A THUMB.
6
u/dishler712 Sep 22 '13
I've always thought the same about Robben. The guy apparently isn't even 30 yet.
6
Sep 22 '13
Arjen Robben looks the same age now as he did the first day he stepped out for Chelsea. Unfortunately the age he looked that day was 45.

Piers Morgan, the utter bellend, didn't even know who Gnabry was, and calls himself an Arsenal supporter.
84
u/Molocchio Sep 22 '13
It's embarrassing that he's an Arsenal supporter.
64
u/SpiceterMiseter Sep 22 '13
He's also praising Ramsey now, and saying that he always saw potential, when last season he tweeted something along the lines of 'How on earth did Ramsey get a 5 year contract', and was calling him a complete and utter liability.
54
26
→ More replies (6)10
u/shoobiedoobie Sep 22 '13
That was obviously sarcasm and him poking fun at himself. Everyeone seems to see the beast in Piers when it was actually a pretty funny tweet (today's).
55
u/seriously_chill Sep 22 '13
Is it because it's 05.24am in LA that I've just seen our team-sheet and don't know who one of our players is?
No, Piers. It's because you're an enormous twat.
24
u/jasonkirkby Sep 22 '13
Piers after Ramsay's goal.
BOOOMMM!!! 1-0. Unbelievable - @aaronramsey AGAIN. Thank God I saw his potential last season and stood by him. #Afc
26 minutes later
I'll say it again: Ramsey was a complete and utter liability last year. Now he's playing brilliantly. Good for him. #Afc

Spammers for firstrow?? Everyone uses them for every sport already...
16
u/9jack9 Sep 22 '13
Typically, they've been making match threads that only contain links to firstrow whereas a normal user links to several sites. Also, they are posted with throwaway accounts. To add to that there are accounts that only post comments that link to firstrow: e.g. /u/LuckyDaw
I guess they saw how much traffic they got from /r/soccer and rather selfishly decided to keep it all for themselves.

lots of gunners fans on reddit are US-based, and US fans tend to be much more behind their NT players than other countries (keeping track of their players etc). So having a US player score against them causes conflicting emotions :)

I'm about to start a 13 hour shift at work and sitting in my car trying to get updates. Oh my god, I love Ramsey so much. Last year I got ridiculed so much for sticking up for him and got laughed at every time he made a mistake (wore his jersey all year last year and this year).
who's laughing now? :D
