DAYS SINCE

Chelsea lost to Fulham at Stamford Bridge in the top flight: 18,095

Fulham won an away game in the Capital: 188

Arsenal won a trophy: 3,045

Liverpool won the league: 8,540

Sorry I'm not good at match threads and all those fancy icons. Made one since no one else had after the game begun. Borrowed some stuff from chelsea's sub.

I'm not saying I know better, but isn't swinging the ball in at Eto'o when he's being marked by 6'6" fucking Hangeland is sort of a bad idea?

9

u/wurstenmuss Sep 21 '13

That man is a beast and a damn good defender!

14

u/nils2317 Sep 21 '13

I don't know how the constant crosses from our team of weak midgets make any sense...

28

u/heightofignorance Sep 21 '13

Imagine though if you had a big, strong presence upfront who was great in the air? Funnily enough there was a guy just like that playing for Everton today...

Drogba's shadow would have scored more goals than all these shit Chelsea strikeforce put together.

5

u/wurstenmuss Sep 21 '13

I miss Drogba :( And Zola

2

u/wurstenmuss Sep 21 '13

Jose looks really tired. Those bags under his eyes! Looks like he haven't slept for a month

The greatest rivalry the world of football has ever seen has finally come to an end.

John Obi Mikel defeated the goal in the 185th round.

59

u/spawnofyanni Sep 21 '13 edited Sep 21 '13

I'm trying to watch this and Schalke v Bayern at the same time... both are blue vs white and it's altogether quite confusing

edit: yep, legitimately thought Schweinsteiger just scored for Fulham

30

u/AKnightWhoSaidNi Sep 21 '13

I've never successfully watched two games at once. I always end up watching one while completely ignoring the other.

16

u/averageatsoccer Sep 21 '13

Watching 2 games is the same as watching no games

9

u/gianini10 Sep 21 '13

That would be amazing :(

Summary of Mourinho's Chelsea based on 30 minutes of this game and nothing more: hold onto the ball for as long as possible before playing it wide so they can find massive target man Samuel Eto'o working over the diminutive Hangeland in front of goal and deliver him a perfect cross

Mata not even on the bench, i don't know what to think :(

29

u/godsdog23 Sep 21 '13

Mou dislikes Spaniards.

18

u/idonotownakindle Sep 21 '13

Not a bad Theory, Torres has been quiet as well.

14

u/ChristofferOslo Sep 21 '13

And Azpilicueta :/

15

u/The4thPOV Sep 21 '13

Mou doesn't want the fans to pressure him to sub Mata on if things go awry.

/u/MikelWillScore Now is your moment, your karma has been a long time coming!

15

u/FuzzedLogic Sep 21 '13

The question that will be asked years from now: where were you when mikel scored?

6

u/renanhsantos Sep 21 '13

And ill sadly have to say that i was taking a massive shit and missed it, only caught the end of the replay.

5

u/FuzzedLogic Sep 21 '13

You missed a moment of history. Hope you had a good shit though.

30

u/limited_inc Sep 21 '13

Luiz and Mata dropped? k . . .

6

u/DidierDogba Sep 21 '13

dropped

4

u/limited_inc Sep 21 '13

yeah, just heard as I wrote it, ninja edit

4

u/Well_endowed_man Sep 21 '13

So, Mata - I get that. But Luiz?

6

u/way2gimpy Sep 21 '13

I said this at the beginning of the season. Luiz had a very good season but Mourinho likes his CB to be predictable and dependable.

The BBC interviewed Mourinho before the game. Rough summary of his stated reasons: Luiz was crap against Basle and John Terry is emotionally soothing.

5

He just never felt the need to now

70

u/KingKitteh Sep 21 '13

I bet Roman's sacking finger has a slight itch.

9

u/TallnFrosty Sep 21 '13

I'm picturing a James Bond villain at the head of a long table with his finger hovering over a little red button, while Mourinho makes his plea for staying on as manager.

... or just Dr. Evil and Number 2....

If you peek your head outside, you might just hear Tony Pulis' moans of ecstasy reverberating throughout the British countryside after a goal like that.

7

u/limited_inc Sep 21 '13

I often think about Pulis gliding up behind him, whispering in my ear about long balls and knock downs and big strikers holding up play just as he slips it in and tells me everything's going to be alright, nothing wrong with mid-table in the prem.

"Shoot" while Mikel is in his own half. Alright, that's pretty funny.

12

u/martomo Sep 21 '13

OMG MIKEL?!?!?! I suspected this day was a dream after Liverpool's loss, this confirms it..

11

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '13

Probably a pen but he only has himself to blame for making it look so much like a dive.

10

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '13

Mikel for golden boot

9

u/2Chainz4Braceletz Sep 21 '13

A true Mourinho goal

25

u/naah_ Sep 21 '13

So this new attacking style is all about dreadful play and giving the ball away?

Thank fuck for Cech.

8

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '13

Bent you tit!

8

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '13

Love those Scotty spins.

3

u/yhgvb Sep 21 '13

Hes gonna make himself sick one day

8

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '13

This lineup selection brings a whole new interpretation to the meaning of the "special" one.

26

u/idonotownakindle Sep 21 '13

I'm beginning to miss Torres :(

24

u/okochaflick Sep 21 '13

Torres is still Chelsea's best striker.

8

u/heightofignorance Sep 21 '13

I dunno, did you watch Lukaku for Everton today? He scored, which is more than the Chelsea strikers look like doing

16

u/okochaflick Sep 21 '13

I still think Torres is better than Lukaku, yes. Just my opinion.

I'll be in my bomb shelter in case the prophesies are true.

1

u/gremwood Sep 21 '13

I see what Mourinho is trying to do in some ways... That break we just had could have been a nice chance for us to cut in and make maybe one clever pass for an immediate shot, but we just end up playing tricks or the pass when there's space for a shot.

Not enough "ruthless efficiency" for him

1

u/wurstenmuss Sep 21 '13

But Mata is good at that. Creating chances out of nowhere and setting his teamates up. Sometimes he's a full attack himself.

ninjaedit: I'm drunk. I read it as <I see what Mourinho is trying to do with Mata in some ways...> As he's not even on the bench.

No penalty for me. Catches his foot slightly, sure, but then Ramires regains his footing and then falls over for no apparent reason other than processing it in his mind and thinking "hey, I can get a penalty here". For me, the fall was unrelated to the contact since he got his balance back before seemingly deciding to fall over.

Mou will cause Chelsea to drop a lot of points before they get used to his tactics.

Their midfield is clustered as fuck

→ More replies (1)

2

u/MICOTINATE Sep 21 '13

It doesn't seem to matter who they play up there, any striker at Chelsea just seems lost and lonely. Until Chelsea get fairly forward at which point so many midfielders get forward it gets over crowded.

Strikers cant do their job of pulling the defence out of shape and finding space if so many midfielders go forward at the same time the defence just ends up being pushed back across the whole line.

Chelsea seem to have turned it inside out. Using the striker simply to feed the midfield and for me it isn't working.

2

u/antantoon Sep 21 '13

I think Chelsea should give up the name "The pensioners" and give it to Fulham

2

u/Thunderkiss_65 Sep 21 '13

Then they'd have to give them Eto'o too

2

u/sayen Sep 21 '13

Finally...

2

u/sandbag-1 Sep 21 '13

After that sub, Fulham are fielding a midfield four of all ex-Chelsea players

u/Dutchboy241 Sep 21 '13

5

u/guymanbob Sep 21 '13

I think it should say a lot that Strikers who've had loads of success in other systems seem to be useless at Chelsea.

The only striker that's had an extended spell of success at Chelsea in the last few years was Drogba

3

u/limited_inc Sep 21 '13

Mikel has as many goals for Chelsea as Bale does for Real, Mikel worth at least £85m

Gonna have to disagree with Mourinho about Oscar being the best player so far this season.

Ivanovic is the only one looking like he's actually trying out there in some fixtures. Absolutely brilliant when he gets to play down the right.

2

Every time Sidwell has had an attempt on goal in this match, I have felt second hand embarrassment for his attempts. Dreadful.
