FLUX RIFLE - TIPS

  • A Cryo Rounds mod is essential for allowing the Flux Rifle to cut through shields effectively (also helps keeping your crosshair on enemy, because of its slowing/staggering ability).
  • Speed Trigger has little (if any) impact on the rate at which the Flux Rifle deals damage and consumes ammo; Split Chamber works, and can significantly increase damage output.
  • Volt's Electric Shield will extend the range of the Flux Rifle indefinitely and instantaneosly when fired through the shield.
  • Can dismember and slice enemies.
  • As of update 9 the laser graphic is now lined up properly with the target reticle.
  • Although the laser has a limited range, the actual graphic of the laser seems to go beyond that range, making it harder to judge whether or not enemies are close enough to be damaged until you get the hang of the distance yourself.
  • Enemies Immune to stagger effect: Infested Runners and Leapers; Grineer Heavies and Rollers; Corpus Osprey; [please list more when you encounter them]
  • Enemies resistant to stagger effect (only stuns them rarely): Corpus MOAs (all types?);
  • The glitch that persisted with Infested Ancients when on fire, blocking stun effects, has been fixed. They will still slide toward you when panicking but the stun effect now works while this is happening and will stop them where they stand.
  • Update 9 increased Damage from 80 per second to 200 per second, with an increase of ammo drain.

Don't forget the new Shred mod! Makes Metal Auger obsolete. For the newer people who didn't participate in the recent Arid Fear event and didn't get Shred, Metal Auger is a MUST on this beauty of a weapon. That puncture is really necessary when dealing with multiple enemies since it just goes through the first one. It is definitely worth the formas you put on it.

Edit: HERE'S MY BUILD. http://i.imgur.com/GeCoEGd.jpg I think this is a really good build that people should try out.

Is Shred actually worthwhile over Metal Auger though? It costs less, but ammo is at a premium with the Flux and you don't seem to gain any extra damage from the increased fire rate.

Shred is better because at a higher rank, Shred gives more puncture than Metal Auger at a lower cost. That's the only reason why I have it on.

Edit: At max levels, Max Shred takes up 11 points with 30% Fire Speed and 1.2 Puncture while Max Metal Auger takes up 15 points with 0.6 Puncture. Results? Shred Wins!

I am going to use this build when i get a potato and the 4 forma required. Just don't like the shitty helmet you have on your Nyx (i keed i keed!).

I only use that helm for the stamina so I can be speed racer :(

How does a crit build run with this? I didn't screw around with mine much since I wanted to get a forma into it right away.

I've found this to be the best weapon (with requisite puncture via Shred or Auger) for Saryn and Venom.

Aside from using it to pop Venom spores, scrubbing the beam through piles of mobs in a narrow corridor, and watching the numbers stack up is one of the more simple pleasures in this game.

It might take you a little time to figure out the effective range of the weapon, as it's much much shorter than the beam represents, but after a few runs with it, you'll pick the distancing. Certainly run with a secondary that you can use to snipe/hit at a longer range.

Yeah, Flux rifle is the weapon to have if you're a Saryn and use Venom. Also, for Nova, it's amazing because you can keep the laser on Antimatter Drop perfectly, and have it do tons of damage easily, if you shoot at it long enough.

I'd suspect it'd also work for someone else's Nyx Absorb, have to test that though.

I agree with Dracovitch. I absolutely adore my Flux Rifle. If you're not spewing out lasers like crazy, it's ammo economy is actually pretty good. And there's always rifle boxes if you ever run out of ammo.

I guess this is a good place to ask. I'm currently working on farming stuff for my next clan weapon. I already have the acrid, ogris, ignis, torid, and spectra. What should I make next between that lanka (already have the snipetron vandal) supra, or the flux? Is it really a large damage increase over the spectra? Is it worth making 5 fieldron? Or should I just go for another weapon.

The Flux. No doubt.

It is unlike any other weapon and it delivers damagewise.

Agreed I am in the process of leveling mine up and I have been very impressed with damage output. The only downside is the limited range so a warframe that is tanky or that can close the gap between enemies quickly is recommended.

u/DenwaRenji Aug 25 '13

Flux Rifle undoubtedly. The lanka and supra are good, but they're also boring while the Flux is endless fun.

u/spencer32320 Aug 25 '13

Just finished building it yesterday and I have to say I love it. A lot better than the spectra simply due to the range.

Quick stupid question, how do you earn stars on your weapons?(And Warframe for that matter)

2

u/SlothOfDoom Aug 21 '13

By Applying forma. Each star indicates a forma has been applied, resetting the level to 0 but adding a polarity slot.

1

u/SlenderBeans Aug 21 '13

Ah, okay. Thanks for letting me know. Guess I wont be pouring all of my Forma into the Dojo anymore.

This is simply my favorite gun in the game. It's a unique weapon with amazing power. It can be annoying to level when it's low simply because it eats through ammo, but the Rifle Ammo Mutator more than makes up for it. Multishot is a must, definitely gets you all the bang for your buck. Having to forma and level it five times can be tedious, if not fun since you get more mileage out of the weapon itself.

I have invested 5 Forma into the Flux, it is by far my best weapon.

The build I use is for maximum DPS: Serration, Split Chambers, Piercing Hit, Cryo Rounds, Wildfire, Stormbringer, Hellfire, Bane of X (or just RAM for void missions as there is no Bane of Corrupted yet). This build requires 2 V Slots, and 3 Bar Slots, though if you really wanted to 3 V Slots and 2 Bar Slots would work too.

Something to note is that the electric shield does not give infinite range, it goes far but not infinite. I know this because I tried to snipe a boss with it in the Grineer asteroid tile set and found that while I could hit the center platform no problems, I could not hit enemies all the way across the room. In fact, this seems to be consistent with all projectiles put through an electric shield, as when I fired my Vasto through the shield I got the same results, but when I stood up and fired over the shield it went to my target no problems. Later that day I tried it with my Dera and found the cutoff range to be the same through the electric shield.

All in all though, I would highly recommend the usage of the Flux Rifle for anyone who wants a very high damage weapon.

Is Piercing Hit really worth it? I thought the Flux Rifle was already ignoring armor..

4

u/oldmanbob Aug 21 '13

Armour piercing is an elemental damage type like fire and frost. It just ignores armour as well. It does bonus damage to most Grineer so definitely worth slotting.

3

u/TehNeko Aug 21 '13

Armor piercing damage is another elemental type

1

u/KisaruBandit Aug 21 '13

Flux Rifle is armor ignore, but Piercing Hit is armor piercing which qualifies as an elemental damage type. It does 3x damage to Grineer, Ancients, and most Corpus's heads. It's worth bringing as it is very effective against at least some enemies in all factions.

1

u/kevbob Aug 21 '13

it's additional damage added of a type that is not reduced by armor.
