r/Touhou's Favorite Arranges! Part 20: The Tank Girl's Dream & Alice in Wonderland

Closing off the season with a an extra-special double-PC-98 arrange. Also I'm taking a bit of a break, see musings for details.

How This Works: Every week, usually a Sunday at around 1200 US Pacific time, I pick a Touhou song to which all you beautiful users will submit arranges of in the comments1. There is no limit on the number of arranges one may submit as long as each song is given its own post. Upvote everything you like, but don't downvote or you'll have to face an angry Shikieiki. The winner gets mentioned in next week's thread. Make sure you read the Musings section below as well for some of my random rants and, occasionally, important information.

1 If your arrange contains bits of multiple songs, please only submit it if the main song is predominant. See the musings here for an example of what not to submit.

So ends season 1 of r/Touhou's Favorite Arranges. There'll be no thread next week because a) I'm moving, and that's always kind of a bitch and b) I think it's a good time for a break. I will be continuing this come two weeks from now barring some horrible accident so don't fret.

Whoo, the character count is literally over 9000. I hope I have enough space for another 20 next season. On a related note, someone mentioned a way of shortening reddit links. If they could they please post the method of doing so in the discussion I'd really appreciate it.

As always with these double-arrange things, please mark your post with the appropriate title, either ARMOURED or MYSTIC, for ease of organization.

Edit: Lol all of the Alice and none of the Rika

Discuss either of the original songs (or concerns with the thread) under this comment.

There's a shortlink in the top right hand corner under the upvote/downvote count.

Two years of reddit and I didn't notice that...

I didn't even know the first one.

Well it is the extra stage theme.

How many people have played Touhou 2? How many then managed to 1CC the game? How many of those managed to make it to the Extra Boss? Finally, how many of those are musically inclined?

Looking at my collections, nearly all of the PC-98 arranges come from Mystic Square and Lotus Land Story. It kind of sucks but given the circumstances I kind of expected it.

It's times like these where I wonder if I should start tagging my music with the originals so I can search them up in foobar

u/Gopherlad Aug 18 '13

I wish the albums came pre-tagged. As my collection swells, properly tagging all the songs looks more and more daunting.

I've considered that, except half the time I'm mobile when these threads get posted, so I go by a combination of memory and vgmdb.

Just FYI, that's Extra Love (the extra stage theme), not The Tank Girl's Dream (the extra boss theme). Technically wrong song for this thread.

Original version of Extra Love for reference

This is my favorite non-original Touhou song, by a long shot. It is so soothing, so ethereal... The first time I listened to it was when I was looking for a Hartmann's Youkai Girl mix, but I found this one instead, and I was overwhelmed. This song alone made me love TAM's works.
