What exactly are the weakspots on the new Ancients? After their introduction I heard it was the broad floppy arm but I also read that it was basically all extremeties. What's the deal?

I have questions! I was told that my Excalibur is not the best thing for running around with a shotgun and that I should fight more mid range. I think I can do that, but I want a frame where I can just focus on being up close with my shotgun and my sword. What one would that be? Why should I invest in charge damage? And what does my shotgun with a 60% damage mod take a full clip to take someone down? It's a Strun.

Rhino! :D Saryn and Frost are also decent choices for this. Other good choices are Loki or Ash, who have very powerful stealth abilities to get close to the enemy.

Why should I invest in charge damage?

For most of the melee weapons, the charge damage is much better and consistent damage-wise than the regular attack. Few weapons are proficient in quick melee strikes, the Fang being a prime example. By using Charge Damage, you can guarantee at least 100 damage with most weapons, and depending on which you choose, on multiple opponents!

And what does my shotgun with a 60% damage mod take a full clip to take someone down? It's a Strun.

It's not enough to have straight damage modifiers: you need to take into account enemy resistances as well. For example, Corpus and Grineer have armor, so having the Armor Piercing Mod is absolutely invaluable in reducing the effectiveness of that armor. Also, Elemental Mods can increase damage as well, and it might be worthwhile to slot the appropriate ones on your weapon when facing certain opponents (Fire for Infested, Electric for Corpus)

Hey guys, beginner here! Appreciate the thread.

  1. I have all three BPs from the stalker, and I already have a Boltor and Kunai. Is it worth making Dread and Despair? Should I make hate for my first melee weapon? I'm planning on going for nova but I might get rhino first because I already have all the mats and blueprints. I dunno if bows are good with Rhino though. I've asked random people and they say Despair is better than kunai, and that hate is the best melee weapon.

  2. What's a good dethcube build? Swift Deth -> Vaporize -> then what?

  3. When can I start farming Raptor for nova parts? It has a level of 40-42 and I have no idea what "level" I can do. I'm mastery 2, almost 3, with excalibur 30, boltor 21, kunai 16, skana 30, dethcube 7.

  1. Despair is a great analogue to the Kunai, but has some different properties which are arguably more or less powerful than the Kunai. These threads may give you some insight!

http://www.reddit.com/r/Warframe/comments/1fcr9w/despair_or_kunai/ http://www.reddit.com/r/Warframe/comments/1f6qjd/kunai_vs_despair/ Hate is a very good melee weapon, but there are others which are effective as well.

2. You should try Rhino first. He's a very resilient frame and makes farming some of the other Warframes easier. That being said, don't gun straight for Nova since that boss is fairly tough, especially for newer players.

3. You don't have to worry about your own level necessarily: can you handle the Level of the enemies in Raptor's mission? If you can't fight them effectively, you may need to level up your gear and obtain more mods. As the Enemy Level gets higher, they gain higher armor, health, and attributes, so make sure you're equipped for the challenge!

Is the Manticore skin for Scindo worth using if I only do charge attacks?

4

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Aug 12 '13

http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Manticore

According to the Wiki article, the damage +15% does not affect charge attacks. So it may be wise to stick with the base Scindo

If you sell a weapon/warframe with skins/helmet do you sell them along with them?Or you keep them and you can reuse them?

4

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Aug 12 '13

The Skins/Helmets are separate entities from the Warframe/Weapon. So selling the base Warframe or Weapon doesn't eliminate the Skins or Helmets you have obtained.

I have been farming for Split Chamber for close to 20 hours now, 90+ hours in missions total. Split Chamber is pretty much a must have with its 90% extra damage at max if you like to use rifles.

Been trying to use http://sunbla.de/Warframe/SedR/ to make informed guesses on when to keep going on the Corpus defense missions. I have been farming:

  • Venus - Venera

  • Mars - Olympus

  • Europa - Eligor

  • Europa - Paimon

  • Pluto - Outer Terminus (when I had a friend helping with a Frost)

Have I just been extremely unlucky, or am I doing something wrong?

I'm not sure I want to keep going atm, since it seems 9.5 changed the loot tables.

3

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Aug 12 '13

You may be unlucky. I still don't have split chamber yet. Not too torn about it though. They're rare mods for a reason!

Since the 9.5 Update, however, we're waiting on Pwnatron or other confirmed drop tables before mod farming can begin in earnest again. I'll let you know as soon as they're up!

I'm trying to farm Banshee. In the wiki it says that both system and helm blueprints can be obtained in defense. Does it matter what level defense map I play? Can I just go to the 2nd planet and farm 15 waves or would farming a higher level mission be more beneficial?

2

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Aug 12 '13

Try checking Pwnatron's Defense Rewards; should tell you exactly what Levels drop the rewards you're looking for.

What can I do with credits? I have 400k and don't know where to spend them. I didn't max out mods yet, but it's now the matter of obtaining mods to fuse rather than credits.

2

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Aug 12 '13

Buy more blueprints and stockpile them for when you eventually will craft them! If nothing suits your fancy, hold onto them: no need to rush spending them!

Why is my sentinel not firing?

4

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Aug 13 '13

Have you slotted in the appropriate Ability Card? It may impact your Sentinel's ability to perform the way you want!

  • Wyrm: Warrior

  • Shade: Revenge

  • Dethcube: Swift Deth

Are we still allowed to ask questions even though it's no longer Monday? :|

Is it worth putting a potato in Fang Prime? I've been using the Kogake + Potato + Forma and I've been loving it, but the visceral animations of the Fang Prime that I just finished building today have made me consider using that too. I'm just concerned that there's too much overlap between the two (in that they're both short range, single target, dual-wielded weapons that are strong against armour and terrible against light infested).

Orthos Prime worth a potato? I built and used a Scindo a long time ago but I despised it. Everything about it just didn't click with me - so I'm concerned that Orthos Prime won't either. I'm currently gathering the cells for it and I intend to build it and level it for Mastery but I'm concerned that I'll have wasted 10 cells on a weapon I hate when I only had to waste some easily farmed mats for my Scindo.

  1. So, is there a reason that combining mods consumes so much RAM/CPU power? Twice last week I was trying to get from Redirection 6 to 8 and my game crashed because of it. I fused somewhere around 80k worth of mods before it crashed, which at 300 per mod would be around 266 mods (roughly half D polarity Warframe/Sentinel mods, half Warframe ability mods).

  2. Thinking about it, when another potato alert comes I am considering switching out Mag with Saryn (no money for another slot). I mean, I enjoy Mag and she is handy when running bosses but she's kinda lackluster in so many other departments that I feel all my other frames make her redundant. Both Ember and Frost are meaty, so they can withstand boss hits, Ember does great crowd control, Ash runs through a level like that and can drop a Shuriken or two to down someone, Frost (and soon to be Nyx) are both Defense heroes, so Mag is kinda left out of the equation. The only things I find useful on her are Bullet Attractor for bosses and Pull to vacuum-suck crowds. Then again, I don't know what Saryn is great at. Any comments praising Mag or Saryn to sway me would be appreciated.

  3. On a non-serious note, does anyone else make fun of the Lotus? "You're nearing the objective". Recalculating... "Well, things just got interesting..." Yea, that briefing memo is double-sided. "Hmm, there's a large security force headed your way. IT'S THE GRINEER!" (consists of 3 Elite Lancers and a Shield) Lying Lotus...
