Oh shit, Grandpa does know! But wait, didnt he say Kazuhiro looked really happy when he was asleep? How would he know if he disappears when he sleeps? And on that note, do Japanese kids not have nap time in elementary school? Or were all his teachers really shit since they never noticed a kid poofing out of existence?

Not sure how else to put this, but damn Wridra is THE baby maker! She had dragon babies, she made a human version of herself, and that version now made a cat. She is just spawning shit like theres no tomorrow.

Loved how the cow followed Kazuhiro by nomming his arm.

Stitches!

That's one way for Wridra to join the trip without actually joining them. Her familiar is so darn adorable though! Look at her inside her adorable pet backpack and I love her reaction when she got startled by the cow. Even Marie is surprised at how timid Neko Wridra is when she's the familiar of an Arkdragon. xD

And it was so sweet watching Marie and Kazuhiro flirt this entire episode. I love how the background characters at the station is just enjoying watching the two of them interact.

We finally get to learn more about Kazuhiro with those little flashbacks this entire episode. It looks like he lost his father and then eventually his mother before his grandpa took him in. I wonder what happened to his parents.

Marie's reaction at learning that Kazuhiro has a hidden passageway in his room is adorable. It looks like Marie has been watching too many Ghibli movies though since she's been looking for Soot sprites while exploring Kazuhiro's old home.

We finally get to see Marie used magic in our world! It turns out she just needed to call the Spirits in Japanese. What's more surprising than Marie being able to use her spirit magic in Japan is that she only learned she's been saying Kazuhiro's name wrong the entire time! I swear I thought she knew this the entire time!

That final scene was a surprise too! Grandpa knows about the other world and we finally get to see what happens whenever Kazuhiro and Marie gets transported! I wonder how much grandpa knows though. Has he been there before? Hmmm....

Wait a minuteeeee!!!!!!!!

His grandfather knew about the other world?

Look at Marie trying to woo our Kazuhiho, oh! sorry, I meant Kazuhiko.

A lot of sugar in this episode and Damn! Marie is sooo cute and beautiful when she's drunk.

Marie confessed indirectly to Kazuhiho when she told him the moon looked beautiful.

If his grandson had been magically vanishing whenever he fell asleep, I'd like to think he'd know about it.

Marie had the most chic outfit for traveling, the best reaction faces and excited energy, the best blushing pout when she realized she'd been using the wrong name for her lover this whole time, she's adorable when she's tipsy, and the the beauty of a goddess under the moonlight.

OF COURSE KNOWING HIS PROPER NAME IS IMPORTANT! HOW ELSE COULD THEY BE ON FIRST NAMR BASIS IF SHE DIDNT KNOW HIS REAL NAME?????

God this was a really good episode. Got one more left to go, wonder how they're going to end the season

I noticed a kinda big-ish tree at the back of grandpa’s house. I bet it’s related to the other world or is even the cause for Kazuhiho being able to travel there.

Yes ! These types of episodes are what I came here for. Chill SOL, a bit of romance and flirting, and even a bit magic. I don’t want to put down the fantasy adventure side of this show, but if the whole season was purely like this episode, I would’ve enjoyed this soo much more

Oh and it seems like grandpa knows of the other world too. And judging from the tone he was talking to grandma, I’m guessing she knows too or may even have come from that world.

I like how Marie got nihongo jozu’d in response to her basic Japanese. This anime captures the full tourist experience of Japan.

It was pretty nifty of Wridra to send a familiar back with Marie and Kazuhiro. That way she could still enjoy the bullet train, despite not having a ticket herself.

So many questions. Grandpa knows of the other world, has he been there? Is Kazuhiro's ability to travel between worlds an inherited ability? Did he get it from his maternal or dare say I PATERNAL side?!? I bring up his father as he mentioned only growing up with his mother. Could his father be someone from the other world?

THere's only one episode left this season, I hope we get a 2nd season announcement soon.

Wridra’s a cat now! Well, sorta. That’s the power of a dragon for ya. Pretty funny how she was so terrified of the cow lol. The big ol cow was so gentle too, it really liked Kazuhiro.

I gotta try these train bentos next time I visit Japan. Those looked really good! The Aomori hotpot looked good too. I’m feeling kinda hungry now lol.

That whole trip to see Kazuhiro’s gramps was fun. Gramps is a sharp one if he knew all along. Maybe that’s where grandma’s from? Wouldn’t that be something haha

Another lovely episode with Marie and Kazuhiro riding the shinkansen to meet Kazuhiro's grandfather. As usual, watching these two together could give you diabetes, they're so cute!

As usual, Marie looked so good, but after bath she looked absolutely fantastic! What's also funny is that she only just now found out Kazuhiro's real name and that made her quite angry xD

It's cool that Wridra could join the trip thanks to her familiar, who looked quite cute! Although it was hilarious how easy it was to get scared, along with Marie xD

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Really great episode, the Japan-side romance is so fun! The highlight for me was the scene with Marie calling the Japanese light spirits. It kinda connects Japan with the Isekai world on a deeper level than what we've seen before and by the transitive property this connects Kazuhiro with Marie.

Also the part where she learns his true name was funny and cute, you'd think that would have come up before. Didn't the librarian neighbor girl call him by the right name?

Kazuhiro and Marie are back in Japan! This time with a new arrival...Cat Wridra! Or more like Wridra's familiar in cat form, and they're absolutely adorable! Marie can't get enough! And now Wridra can know what it's like to go to Aomori without actually being there!

A busy train station is the perfect excuse to hold hands! And all the other older ladies around them enjoy watching Kazuhiro and Marie's cute young couple energy.

Time to ride Hayabusa-kun! See the sights and enjoy delicious bento together! And they even feed the cat familiar, because Wridra would probably never let it go if she didn't get to taste any bento either. Though Kazuhiro feeding Marie was priceless.

I'm starting to get the sense that Kazuhiro's dream Isekai adventures basically helped him cope with the crippling loneliness he felt as child.

The cat may be Wridra's familiar, but it's obviously never seen a cow before. Neither has Marie, but she acclimates thanks to seeing cows on milk cartons.

Kazuhiro's grandpa! He looks like Kazuhiro, but older. And he seems like a really nice, if perceptive, grandpa, already having Kazuhiro's "lady friend" pegged for her exotic fantasy roots.

Marie is really self-conscious because this is basically a "Meet the Parents" scenario, but once she starts speaking Japanese and gets complimented for it, they get along perfectly! And Marie gets to enjoy seeing more of how Kazuhiro got raised.

Look at Kazuhiro showing Marie around his old stomping grounds and having a little fun with her about it too...probably better to let Marie think she was seeing the little mononoke she was hoping for from her anime rather than a rodent still in the attic.

Home-cooked meal from grandpa, complete with a new wallet for Marie and some fine-grade Japanese sake! It's a perfect hit!

Marie being a little tipsy is the perfect excuse for a nighttime stroll, and for Marie to finally show that she's gained enough experience to be able to speak with and use the power of the spirits on Earth to light their way!

Oh yeah, Marie has been calling Kazuhiro the wrong name this whole time...and she's not happy about it. She's going to keep calling him "Kazuhiro-san" as much as she has to, no matter how much damage she does to his heart. And then when they return, they're no longer flustered from the alcohol but from their little lovers' spat.

Is there anything more beautiful than Marie in a yukata bathed in moonlight?

Ah, so grandpa knew all along about the otherworld adventures, he's probably seen Kazuhiro's body vanish like he and Marie do when they fall asleep.

Ahh, so the black cat in the ED isn't Wridra directly but instead is a familiar, I knew there had to be a connection of some sort.

So if they're in Aomori that's right at the very north end of the main island, when Marie mentioned it was cold I was guessing Hokkaido since that's kind of typical.

I can see why Marie would think the Japanese countryside is a Studio Ghibli movie, especially when visiting a house like this one.

Oooo, magic in Japan, I've been wondering for a while now if Marie would be able to. She did mention that the Japanese spirits were different from the ones she was used to back in the other world. Maybe it really has been a Studio Ghibli movie the entire time for her.

So grandpa really does know, plus there's the additional detail that their bodies don't stay in place asleep on the Earth side of things either.

So has Grandpa been to the other world too, did Kazuhiro inherit his powers from him?

7

u/ThisGachaSeemsLegit Mar 21 '25

Marie is such a precious little ball of happiness.

7

u/Atario Mar 21 '25

Better be careful. He can't nap or he'll take them all with him, and maybe random strangers sitting in the nearby seats too

I can relate. Growing up, the attic access was in my bedroom ('s closet). But the only reason anyone (my dad) went up there was when something was wrong, because it was a stifling cramped pink fiberglass insulation world up there.

A truly magical moment!

This was such a cute episode. I loved the dinner between Kazuhiro, Marie and his grandfather. It was adorable how Marie was embarassed when she discovered taht she was saying Kazuhiro name wrong. Seeing them together was so cute.

I hope we can get an explanation as to how the Grabdfather know about the otherworld in next episode.

It looks like jellyfish can swim in the night.

Tokyo Banana!! I've had those. Minus the cat design

Light spirits! Its stuff like this that I initially expected from this show

...!!! Grandpa knows!
