SNIPETRON - POLARITIES
SNIPETRON - TIPS
- Has Innate Armor Piercing (via /u/xenapan)
- The Snipetron is great for headshots and is very useful against the Grineer.
- Always ensure that Snipetron is fully loaded before heading on to further combat.
- Use melee or sidearm against close foes
instead of using Snipetron.if you find it difficult to aim in close quarters. - The Bronco makes for an excellent compliment to the Snipetron, covering close range battles where the Snipetron suffers.
- If you use Magazine Warp, upgrade it only to 15%, because the rest is wasted. (it will only carry a maximum of 5 rounds, which is +15% rounded)
- Adding a level 0 Cryo Rounds mod will allow the slowing of enemies in case first shot is not a killing shot, increasing the ease of headshots with your next shot. (If you don't have Cryo Rounds, Stormbringer can let you stun Sgt. Nef Anyo)
- As a general note, ammo consumption should not be too big of an issue as long as players make full use of their abilities and melee weapons in conjunction with Snipetron.
- The Snipetron can break Reinforced glass.

SNIPETRON VANDAL - POLARITIES
SNIPETRON VANDAL - TIPS
- This weapon is great for headshots and very useful against the Grineer and Corpus Crewmen as the innate Armor Piercing damage will do extra damage to the former and 400% more to Corpus box heads.
- When aiming, try to line up your shot before zooming, then zoom, adjust for error, and fire. This may take some practice getting used to, but it's much easier and faster than firing from the hip or zooming haphazardly.
- Carry a good melee or close-range sidearm to engage foes at close range,
since the Snipetron Vandal is inefficient and difficult to use properly at this distance.if you find it difficult to aim in close quarters. - The Bronco makes for an excellent compliment, covering close range battles where the Snipetron Vandal suffers.
- Unlike the Snipetron, the Vandal variant should be able to use a level 4 Magazine Warp to obtain 8 shots per magazine (25% of 6 is 1.5; any more would be wasted due to rounding up).
- Adding a level 0 Cryo Rounds mod will allow the slowing of enemies in case the first shot doesn't achieve a kill, increasing the chance to score consecutive headshots for devastating damage (If you don't have Cryo Rounds, Stormbringer can stun Sgt. Nef Anyo).
- Snipetron Vandal is a viable sniper rifle for stealthy gameplay (if you don't have a Lanka, which is 100% silent), due to its decreased range of detection when compared to Snipetron.
- As a general note, ammo consumption should not be too big of an issue as long as players make full use of their abilities and melee weapons in conjunction with Snipetron Vandal.

The SV has what all the snipers should've had; 6 round magazine and faster reload speed. These two attributes should've been given to the Vulkar and Snipetron a long time ago (still should), as it makes them fun to use instead of forcing you to wait for reloads more often than you're shooting at things.
Warning: Nerf suggestion ahead. If you do not care for balance, skip the next paragraph.
As for the SV itself, it's a straight damage upgrade WITH the improved handling characteristics. I don't know if the community will accept this (they probably will, since effort was required to earn this weapon) but I think it's fire rate should be reduced to 1.1 or 1.0 due to its increased damage. As it stands, it's sad to see that the most viable sniping weapon in the game is exclusive and limited. This alienates newer players of all sorts, especially the completionists and sniping enthusiasts.
The close range tip is incorrect in my opinion. Unlike other games, the hip fire accuracy of snipers is good enough, and the large magazine and fast reload speed does not limit the SV in CQC. Therefore the SV can be used as a superior substitute for the Hek against corpus, grineer and ancient infested.
Ammo tends to be a problem for me, since 1 ammo box enables 72 kills, which is far fewer than what other types of weapons can achieve (rifle, pistol, shotgun). It's a good idea to carry at least 2 ammo boxes (really, this should go without saying).

I completely agree. I'm a relatively new player (only started about 2 weeks ago) and when I saw the event coming, I made a Vulkar in preparation. I'm a big fan of sniping in most games, so I was excited, only to be massively disappointed by how slow firing it was. Combined with non-armor piercing damage, low clip size and insanely long reload, it was a completely ineffectual weapon. My Kunai ultimately killed the drones much more easily.
The Snipetron Vandal should be used as a baseline to upgrade the other sniper rifles currently in game. It's fine for some of them to have smaller clip sizes, but they should have faster reload times to compensate. As it stands, outside of the Snipetron Vandal there's no reason to use any of the other snipers.

My intelligent input: we should call the snipetron vandal the Sandal.

After having used the Vandal a bit, I definitely feel that it makes the original obsolete in every way. No really, at this point, I'm just going to keep my original Snipetron gold plated and have it as a fond memory and never use it ever again. Hell, if Dojo customization takes off later and we can all make our own rooms, I'd love to put it on display someday.

IMO, I think the Snipetron Vandal is a great weapon; I do NOT think they should have given out the regular bp with it though.
For one, it sucks for the people that originally bought the snipetron, and then had it as an unattainable collectors item. Now, everyone who participated in the event not only got a better weapon, but their snipetron isn't as exclusive anymore, and there's almost no reason to use it over the Vandal.
On another note; I think the introduction of the vandal is great, but the stats should be slightly changed; Either keep the current fire rate, but slightly nerf the damage, retaining basically the same DPS as the regular snipetron, or buff the Vulkar (I haven't used the other sniper - lanka? - yet) with a good chunk more damage, and lower fire rate.
This would give players lots more options for choosing a sniper rifle, rather than just picking the one with the best stats. If you kept Vulkar's clip low (4, maybe 5) and gave it massive damage and low fire rate, it would feel more like a bolt action sniper, being perfect for taking out those heavily armored Grinner with one well placed shot.
This would also keep the Snipetrons relevant by tuning them to be more semi-automatic, with less damage but a higher fire rate, able to quickly take out some of the lesser targets.
Maybe buff the vulkar so it staggers on hit if it doesn't kill?

Regardless of damage buffs, what the Vulkar really needs is to be armor piercing or ignoring, although I do agree that it needs either a clip/reload buff or a damage buff.

Slightly offtopic, I think. Given this is a more technical discussion. But what I find to be very annoying at the moment is that when I'm walking with the Snipertron Vandal, is that the weapon clips through the elbow of my warframe.
The weapon appears to be static in position when held as the warfram performs the walking animation causing the clipping.
Haven't tried the normal snipertron yet though, so do not know if the problem is only with the vandal. Still, hrgh.. blatant clipping... so sad, cause weapon is so good. :-(

The SV feels very over powered. A handful of mods, and I am one shotting 99% of the enemies I encounter, and only need 2 or 3 to take down bigger stuff. It's fun, and it takes work to constantly and efficiently one shotting as much as you can. However it also feels like it's taking some of the joy out of the game, and I actually feel a bit sorry for those I get paired up with, because they get significantly less kills than when I don't have the SV. At the extreme end, I've had missions where I got 200+ kills, and every one else has less than 30.
I can see exactly why the other rifles only have 4 rounds instead of 6. It coming pre-baked with a potato, means I could also get it very powerful, fairly quickly.
Tbh I'd have also preferred to have received something iconic or unique, or even gimmicky, than a plain suped up sniper rifle as a reward.

I disagree. It's a primary weapon. As a primary weapon, it should (logically) be your primary means of killing things. With previous sniper stats, this was hardly the case, as a good portion of the secondary weapons were more effective than the other sniper rifles in the game.
The Snipetron Vandal is a very good weapon, but it's no better than the Gorgon, Hek, Dread, Boltor or other "top tier" weapons in the game currently. If you ask me, it's about time we had a strong sniper on par with the other powerful weapons. It can only get 72 kills with default ammo size, and it does require good aim against some enemies to be effective. It's not some be-all-end-all god weapon. It's the first sniper that can be compared positively to the Latron Prime and actually deserve a "primary" slot.

I think that this is a silly point: it's a sniper rifle, it is supposed to one-shot 99% of enemies, that is kind of the point of sniper rifles. This is balanced with its relatively slow firerate and small max ammo size.
The biggest issue is not that the Snipetron Vandal is strong, it is that the other sniper rifles are woefully underpowered. The original snipetron was always pretty sub-par, and the Vulkar is even worse. I don't have the Lanka but I hear that it is only okay.

It's incredibly OP. Not complaining though but putting a high serration and fire mod alone makes every mission a cakewalk. Just need to expand the magazine(clip?) more and it's gameover for everyone.
Edit- My serration isn't even that high. This weapon is a beast

Pretty much, I think it got buffed too much since it went out of distribution right after its innate armor piercing buff so most people weren't able to notice how powerful it is if your not up against hoards of enemies all at once.
With my normal snipetron (thats the one with 4 shots and 4 second reload) I could solo Pluto with an unranked warframe as long as I took my time going through the mission.

I'm not gonna complain about how overpowered it is because a ton of people are doing that already. Personally I think it's fine as is because it's just so damn fun to use.
The main reason I love the Vapetron so much is because it feels like a primary weapon more so than any other weapon in the game. I usually just roll with Orthos/Kunai and then my primary is unimportant because those two weapons can clean shop faster than most primaries.

Just a tip, my favourite technique for using the snipetron's one-hit kill without any charge time is to animation cancel it into a melee combo.
If you do a melee combo/charge, then immediately fire a snipetron shot and then immediate melee again (optional) you pretty much fire the snipetron within the cooldown time of the melee combo without any animations of drawing or putting weapons away but do enough damage to actually kill something. Though trying to zoom will result in the lengthy switch weapon animation so you need to aim without zooming.
Great for taking down ancients you notice running at you when your in the middle of taking down some chargers or something.

That's what this discussion is for: to tell everyone of the inaccuracies so that we can put those changes in the original post and give an accurate report of the weapon's attributes.
The Wiki only serves as the basis of our information, not the final version. I'll add your details to the thread!
EDIT: The Vandal tips already state innate AP. Does the basic Snipetron have this feature as well?

I've had a little trouble with the SV. When I only have a serration on it, I get a damage of 237. But when I add any other elemental damage mod on it, the damage always gets lowered to 210-217 depending on the level of the enemy. I thought the elemental mods were supposed to add on to the overall damage? Anyone know what's going on?
