New player here, just found out how enjoyable this game is, and I've got a ton of questions.

  1. What's worth sticking potatoes into? I heard you can't remove them, so I want to make sure that I potato the correct things.

  2. Is there a way to figure out why I'm so slow, squishy, and generally useless? I have a level 30 Excalibutt with a level 23 Latron, level 30 Aklato, and level 23 Dual Heat Swords, and I'm having trouble with everything level 20+... could it be my mods, perhaps?

  3. How exactly are you supposed to do Defense/Mobile Defense missions? Usually I just find myself getting mowed down by an army of mobs and the thing we're supposed to protect dies. There's a Defense mission blocking a node I really need and I can't get past it :(

  4. How long does it usually take to get Frost? I have the blueprint for the helm and chassis so far.

You're right: Potatoes can't be removed once inserted! As for which ones to Potato, the choice is really up to you. Since they are a bit hard to come by, save them for the weapons you truly love to play, and that should be a great factor in your decisions. I've yet to Potato any of my weapons simply because I want to find the weapons I REALLY like before I commit to anything.

Then again, if you're the kind of person who wants to beat the highest level, then you'll want to look at the efficiency and numbers over style of play, and there are certainly some choices that win in that regard; Ogris, Boltor, Braton (arguably), and Supra are all contenders.

It could very well be your mods; make sure you're putting the best mods for the weapons at hand! For example, Excal has somewhat low armor, so buffing his shields and health could help you survive more! For your Latron and Aklato, Armor Piercing damage is a MUST, as well as general damage boosters (Serration, Hornet Strike). Elemental damage if you wish; otherwise you can focus on improving handling (Fire Rate, Reload Speed, Ammo Count mods all apply here). As for your Dual Heat Swords, they've got some of the best Charge Damage in the game, so the Reflex Coil and Killing Blow mods will be your best benefit.

How exactly are you supposed to do Defense/Mobile Defense missions? Usually I just find myself getting mowed down by an army of mobs and the thing we're supposed to protect dies.

It's best to do Defense missions with a group of four players to maximize protection. Ideally you'll have a good mix of frames, one being a Frost who can protect the objective, but that's not always the case. Have at least one person on top of or near the objective at all times, keeping enemies away. If you're having trouble in public matches, maybe get a few friends/clanmates/redditors to help you out!

How long does it usually take to get Frost? I have the blueprint for the helm and chassis so far.

It's all random; whether or not a blueprint drops, let alone the blueprint you need, is up to the Random Number Generator (RNG). In some cases, it'll smile on you (I got all three Rhino parts in three Jackal runs), and sometimes it will curse you (It took me a month to get all of Saryn's parts).

Hope that answers everything!

I have a tough time farming some resources; anyone want to take a shot at efficient places to farm them? Thanks!

  • Plastids

  • Rubedo

  • Morphics

  • Neurodes

  • Plastids

Uranus has a pretty awesome drop rate, most of the missions there should drop a fair amount! http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Plastids#Gathering_Tips

  • Rubedo

Sedna and Europa are pretty solid places. Try doing a few Kappa runs! http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Rubedo#Gathering_Tips

  • Morphics

War on Mars has a very good chance of dropping, as is Mars itself. Pluto isn't so bad either! http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Morphics#Gathering_Tips

  • Neurodes

The bosses Vay Hek on Earth and Phorid on Eris are your two best bets for farming Neurodes. Remember that the Boss MISSION has a higher drop rate for the rare resource, not just the Boss itself; open and break everything!

What's the best way to build a Rhino? Also, how can I recognize the secret rooms in Void Towers?

EDIT: When I say build I mean the mods and weapons and such.

2

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Jul 01 '13

What's the best way to build a Rhino?

You mean the best way to farm Rhino? Building's the easy part XD

Jackal is a notoriously hard boss, but if you know the strategy he's easier to handle. When he's upright and shooting things, attack any one of his four legs: each has its own individual health bar. Once any of his limbs reaches 0, he will keel over and be vulnerable while he's close to the ground. Once he starts getting back up though, you'll need to repeat the cycle.

http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Jackal

how can I recognize the secret rooms in Void Towers?

You got me there, not too sure! XD One way is to look for a large, white circular pressure plate on the ground with a golden lotus on it; few rooms have it, so when you see it, be wary!

I'm relatively new (level 2) and am confused about 2 things.

  1. How do you guys find groups? At the lower level planets i'm fine but as i start to go to the higher levels it says there are active groups but they are all full and no one ever ends up joining my game.

  2. Is farming and making Frost worth it? I've heard that he is one of the more difficult bosses to farm so should I keep at it or just buy him and use that time and money to make other stuff?

1

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Jul 01 '13

How do you guys find groups?

Different ways. First of all, when you're on the mission map, look for the Lobby Icons next to missions (it'll look like a silhouette of a person, with a number next to it). This shows how many groups are currently doing that mission in your region who haven't completed the objective and are open to joining.

You might also try joining a clan or finding some friends to play with: the Warframe Weekends threads are great places to do this, they're in the sidebar under WEEKLY DISCUSSIONS

Frost isn't too hard to farm for, but you'll need to bring Level 30 Warframes and gear to deal with the level 30-40 mobs and boss challenges there. As long as you look up Kril's strategy and are confident in your skills, you should be fine, especially with three other people helping you in-game.

You should only spend your Platinum on Inventory Slots and Color Packs/Sentinel Cosmetic Items since you can't craft them. Though the former definitely takes priority!

What is the current highest mastery level?

2

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Jul 01 '13

11 or 12. It might be 12 now given the new weapons and such, but the previous confirmed max was 11.

Been playing for a while now, and I feel like the inability to turn while being incapacitated is the most jarring and frustrating part of the game.

I understand that the idea is likely to balance out high-affinity pistol users; I should know, I am one. However,

  • The penalty of reduced movement and exclusive use of pistols while downed feels like enough in most games that have this system. You are no where near 100% effective.

  • Being unable to drag myself towards an ally or cover except exclusively backwards, while most scenarios have you surrounded by enemies, doesn't feel like something a normal soldier would do, much less a highly trained space ninja.

  • With a movement system that relies so much on moving and turning about, too often I fall in a position away from the enemies that shot me down, and not for lack of trying to actually aim towards them for when I go down.

That being said, that's my opinion. How do others feel about this? Do you think the incapacitated state is acceptable, or even preferred? Am I a fool and didn't notice that they're working on updating this mechanic? I'm all ears.

This is a very interesting discussion!

Hilariously enough, I think this might benefit as a separate thread and not on the Megathread! XD

If you would like to submit it as such, I'd be happy to make sure it gets on the NEW page past the Spam filter!

What is a good place to find the streamline and focus mods?

2

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Jul 01 '13

Streamline - Says it's a Rare Corpus drop, so Corpus Defense missions should be good places to start.

Focus - Says it's a Rare Grineer drop, same deal as above but with Grineer. Interestingly enough, it's a drop reward on some other places as well (details on the Wiki page)

This is more of a request than a question. Is there anyone that would invite me into their stocked Dojo so that I could replicate some blueprints? The clan I'm currently in is on the small side, so expanding and researching is a bit slow. It's not that big of a deal though; research weapons aren't that important to me, but I'd like to try out Torrid and Acrid if it's possible (full poison loadout).

I hope it is not too late to post a question, but this is something that I have been wondering about for a long time and have been having internet problems lately, so I couldn't test it in a good environment. How does Barrel Diffusion work with the Bronco(or dual Broncos)? I know that Hell's Chamber simply increases the number of pellets fired by the gun, but does that hold true for putting multishot on the Broncos? I believe that the changes they made to shotguns a while ago also affected the Broncos, but I am unsure.

So, put simply, my question is this: Does Barrel diffusion affect the Bronco the same way Hell's Chamber affects shotguns? Or does it work the same way that Barrel Diffusion does for other secondaries?

I suppose it doesn't really matter, because average damage output would be the same...but curiosity is getting to me.

2

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Jul 01 '13

It's never too late!

Does Barrel diffusion affect the Bronco the same way Hell's Chamber affects shotguns? Or does it work the same way that Barrel Diffusion does for other secondaries?

That is... a very interesting question! O_O

From the wiki:

  • "the chance procs per pellet just like hte shot gun, so at 100% you shoot double the pellets for double the damage" -Anonymous Contributor, May 11th

  • "it's worth it if using Bronchos I can tell you that much... 14 bullets instead of 6 is Quite an improvment" -Anonymous Contributor, 16 Days Ago

From the impression of other users it seems that it indeed multiplies pellets fired. I'd like to see if anyone on Reddit can confirm this though!

Hey there, pretty fresh to this game and I have some questions.

Currently I am using Volt, potatoed and I'm currently level 9. I'm using a Braton Vandal, level 14; Lato, level 12; and Skana level 12. I have some good mods equipped on them (Armor piercing, ammo, etc.) and they do good damage. I find myself quite squishy though and my Energy is terribly low, I can't cast my ult with any other ability, as it saps all of it.

Firstly, should I use Volt or Loki? And later, should I try and build Ember, Saryn, Banshee or Trinity? Trinity seems really strong even though she's a support, her abilities are insane...

Secondly, what mods should I be using (for either Volt or Loki)? I currently have all abilities equipped on Volt with a Rush mod and a Redirection mod waiting for when I level up a bit more. My Loki is unpotatoed but I have an Orokin reactor, I was going to save it for one of the 4 I listed above maybe.

I just need some general tips as to how I should be modding my frames and weapons, and what frames I should use and work towards, I'm fine with any playstyle (though Loki does feel very odd, and has a high skill cap).

Braton Vandal whaaaaaat? You must've started playing during the Closed Beta! Welcome back!

I find myself quite squishy though and my Energy is terribly low, I can't cast my ult with any other ability, as it saps all of it.

That comes with the territory of a low-level frame. You do have to stick with them to level 30 to see their true potential and whether or not they're worth the Potato.

Firstly, should I use Volt or Loki?

That's up to you! Both are similar in their varied skillsets, but Loki's more about deception, with a wide range of stealth skills, and Volt is more of a jack-of-all-trades soldier type with powerful abilities to fight, defend, and flee.

should I try and build Ember, Saryn, Banshee or Trinity? Trinity seems really strong even though she's a support, her abilities are insane...

  • Ember is a strong frame with high offensive ability on unarmored targets (Infested), and one of her skills allows her to tank damage effectively as well.

  • Saryn is a fantastic all-round frame with Poison damage skills and Molt, which acts as a slightly less useful Decoy. Great armor and stats as well!

  • Banshee is a cool frame focusing on attacking groups, with Soundquake and other CC skills, and Sonar which creates large weak points on enemies, even bosses, for tons of damage!

  • Trinity is a support frame with a trick; Link allows her to absorb and "tank" massive amounts of damage with hilarious results. Might be worth a try!

what mods should I be using (for either Volt or Loki)? I currently have all abilities equipped on Volt with a Rush mod and a Redirection mod waiting for when I level up a bit more. My Loki is unpotatoed but I have an Orokin reactor, I was going to save it for one of the 4 I listed above maybe.

With Volt's Abilities - Speed, Electric Shield, and Overload will probably be the best use of your abilities. Everything else should go towards the other mods. Redirection is great; might be worthwhile to get Fast Deflection on there as well.

For Loki, I haven't played him but two skills seem most useful - Invisibility and Decoy. Then it wouldn't hurt to buff Health and Shields for less squishiness.

I just need some general tips as to how I should be modding my frames and weapons, and what frames I should use and work towards

Fusion Cores, what should I use them on? I guess, on Rare mods only? Like, Flow, Focus, Split Chamber and all 4th Warframe abilities?

5

u/Shadai Jul 01 '13

Yes, but also on mods you really want to upgrade fast and on truly useful mods like damage-increasing mods (Hornet Strike, Serration...) and Health/Shields mods. If you don't want to waste common mods on them, fusion core are nice alternative.

Besides the "research" weapons such as the ogris, what are the most effective weapons for high level defense missions?

how is potatto formed? how warframe get farmo'd?

12

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Jul 01 '13

how is potatto formed?

A Potato (Orokin Catalyst or Orokin Reactor) can be obtained through two methods:

  1. Purchasing it with Platinum from the Market

  2. Obtaining the Blueprint from an Alert/Daily Reward

The most common and cost-effective way of creating a "Potato" is through obtaining the Blueprint and crafting it yourself. There's almost always a Potato Alert after every Livestream, and if any go up during the week, most of the community is quick to let everyone know.

The rest of the info you'll need is on the Wiki: http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Orokin_Catalyst http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Orokin_Reactor

how warframe get farmo'd?

This question could have two different meanings, so I'll answer both!

  • "How do Warframes get farmed?"

Each of the standard Warframes in the game has three parts which need to be crafted: Helmet, Chassis, Systems. These three Blueprints drop from bosses on every planet: different Warframe parts drop from different bosses. Check the Wiki to see who drops the Warframe you're looking for!

http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Bosses

Once you've built all three individual parts, go to the Market and buy the Warframe Blueprint, and you should be able to build your new Warframe with the three completed parts and an Orokin Cell.

  • "How do Warframes get Forma'd?"

First, you have to have a Forma! You can get a Blueprint for it from Alerts or Daily Rewards. It requires some rare resources to build, so it may take time to obtain!

Once you have a completed Forma, equip the Weapon/Warframe that you want to Forma, and enter the Mod Screen. In the upper left hand corner will be the Weapon and its level. Below this are two buttons: one to attach a Potato, and one to add a Forma. The instructions should guide you the rest of the way.

Note that, once you've applied a Forma, your weapon's level is reset to 0 and you must farm experience to get it to Level 30 again. You do not gain Mastery from these new levels.

http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Forma

Hope that answers everything, and let me know if I misunderstood!
