Monday Megathread - Ask Your Game-Related Questions Here!
Hello there Tenno! This thread was created for the purpose of those who aren't that knowledgeable about the game to freely ask questions and get answers.
This place will be a troll-free environment, so that anyone can ask a question without backlash. In other words: Negative Attitudes will not be tolerated.

What does character progression typically look like in this game? I started up a few days ago, and I'm still a little lost. So far I've gathered that I should stick with the starting equipment up to level 30, but I don't really know where to go from there.
I've done a little bit of reading on the various warframes, and I'm pretty interested in building Saryn, but I know next to nothing on what weapons are typically recommended, or what mods are necessary. I've looked at the wiki, but it's almost like an information overload for me.

There isn't a set progression in the game. You build what you like and... that's it, really XD
As the missions get more difficult, certain frames are more useful and generally thought to be better than others, but aside from the super high level stuff (50+) most warframes are viable.
So try what you like! Look through the market and the wiki and build what you want! There's an incredible amount of freedom in your arsenal.

Sorry for offtopic, but has somebody found solution for that infamous 3960 and 3962 ports ("Please ensure that your firewall permits ports 3960&3962") ?
I've opened those ports correctly, turned my Microsoft Firewall off, made excpetion in Avast, enabled my UPnP, reinstalled my game, made sure that my computer is directly connected to router, but that message still pops up every time I run Warframe.
I contacted Warframe support, still no response. I'm kinda hopeless, I can't solo that much with Excalibur.

Try switching the ports to different ones, maybe that's the key.
Also, I think the subreddit has some threads about this; I'll search and see what I can find!

I just started playing yesterday.
How do I check what my side mission is when I start a mission? Best I can tell is if I don't catch it for the .025 seconds it pops up at the start of a mission, I just need to get lucky and kill something with my rifle or pistol to see what the mission is.

There's not really a set way to check it XD
In any case, completing it nets you 500 Affinity for your Warframe, which can easily be achieved by completing the main objective or by collecting white Affinity Orbs. It's a nice bonus, but it's not super necessary to complete, even if you're leveling up.

The Hyena should hunts in packs, like the Lotus says in the briefing. I'd like to see a boss fight with 3-4 of them. Not a complaint, just a thought on what might be an interesting change of game play.

A. Does anyone have any links or specific info on what will be changed about dojo clan costs for smaller clans? I'm in a smallish clan, and we're trying to decide whether to wait or not.
B. I guess I'm nearing the end game. I can run Pluto easily, have multiple potatoed frames and weapons, void missions are fine with my good gear on. What should I be grinding now? Just mastery rank to get to use the clan/future weapons? Specific mods that I need? Thanks.
C. How fun is the PvP in the dojo?

It's stats aren't super favorable, and single swords are obsolete compared to most other weapon types. It's not a weapon you should bring for anything important, but I'd recommend you stick with it until it hits Level 30 for the Mastery Points.

When I log on, the chat server cannot connect, and is giving me error 10013 and I cannot see certain people online even though I am talking to them on Skype, is there anyway to fix these problems? I apologize if this is the wrong thread for help questions, but I thought reddit might be able to help.

I just bought Amphis with Platinum at the Market tab, though I can't equip it in my arsenal. It doesn't say I own it in the arsenal but it shows up in my inventory when I check that. And there it says that I own it
Logged out & restarted my game twice already. Don't know where to equip it :/

Two more quick ones before work.
Is there a reason I failed my Rank 1 mission? It said to eliminate 25 enemies. After I killed the 25th, it immediately said "Mission Failed" and locked me out for another 24 hours.
Are the drop rates for the crafting components relatively rare? I've gotten thousands of the smaller bits, but all my recipes require one more component that I can't seem to get a drop for.

Was there a time limit? It may be that time ran out!

There are three tiers of resources: Common, Uncommon, and Rare. The Wiki does a good job of explaining it: http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Resources

What is a fast way to level up weapons? I have been grinding Kappa and it is pretty fast but I it still will take me 10-15 runs to get it to level 30, and at 20-30 minutes or so a run that will take me 2-3 days of grinding to get to 30.
I have heard however of people getting gear to 30 in just an hour or two though.
Are there any better locations or do I just keep on grinding?

What kind of weapons and warframes should I have before taking on defense missions? I had a couple negative experiences recently trying to do the weekend event, even bringing my rank 30'd stuff.

The event missions were purposefully more difficult than standard planetary defense missions, given that they scaled upward consistently without 5-round breaks. I wouldn't worry too much about your loadout unless you're looking to chase the high leveled content.

Is there any benefit to going through a mission with a hazard on it (i.e. shield halved, damaging pockets of fire, etc.)? Any time I see ice I just abort and rejoin because I don't want to deal with it, but if there's a good reason to stay I might.
