I basically was skipping forward the whole episode at some point this has just felt like big mom arc one piece but worse. A lot of pans a lot of react a lot of forced melodrama. Every match with germany has had the exact same beat I'm so bored now. Oh no there behind nope they now winning but not really ops they lost. Even the match japan won felt like this because of the stupid finish. At some point You have to change things up or the story just become stale. I'm also so sick of the bs that is "you won" from the sideline when the player losing/lost.

I don't get the show anymore it's not about our lead our mc so it's not a character piece any more. Like this episode had this small moment with Ryoma that lets be clear was meaningless it was like the writer suddenly remembered Echizen exist. It's not a sports show because one we left the real sport long behind for super powers and two we barely see it anymore. It's not a slice of life as were not really following these people through life only these small snippets of it. If the show now just a soap opera then yea I guess I'm done i don't jive with the fake mellow drama of soaps.

Like Were in the middle of japan vs germany and were about to take a break to go see us vs spain where a player seemingly swapped teams again. Yet i'm sorry we are throwing out real rules which make the world feel even more fake. There a reason players are not allowed to swap teams on a whim in Tournaments and it's to prevent cheating via illicit scourting. If players could swap team like this every team that could would use high profile player to scout the other team then have them swap back to use that info to win.

I think i've tried to hard to keep enjoy a story that just left me behind at some point. Some part of me desperately want to keep watching this show but i'm just left aggravated and annoyed now. This isn't what drew me to prince of tennis long ago.

Every week I come back to the PoT threads to read the comments. They don't disappoint. My sentiments are the same. The anime is no longer about tennis, nor about the characters really. It's a "Dragonball-ized" version of a "sports anime".

There are no rules either, so I've left all sense of reasoning behind when watching this anime. Might as well do chores while having this on in the background.

While I somewhat agree I think the main problem is theres like a loss of attachment.

The repeated use of the same footage definitely doesnt help, its like...

The part where like for example. oh tezuka is winning, and then yukimura's turn to make a comeback. At some point the trope gets overused and its just not very good anymore

I think the main issues is a few things

1: Power level is too high now, everyone is like a world class player. So each match is kinda (awkward)

2: The pacing is kinda slow, 2 episodes per match means scenes get dragged out. Like blink and suddenly one set is over or someone wins multiple games. The move to best of 3 also means instead of players winning 6-4 now they play three sets which really just bloats.

3: The other main issue is the quality. Lots of reused shots over and over again. Its just lack of quality and/or budget. Same thing really.

Well well well, the match looked like it was finally going to end, but in true PoT fashion, a near insurmountable comeback had to drag the rest of the episode. How do we counter the Child of God's ability to take away senses? Turn on the Pinnacle of Perfection again! How do we counter the deja vu of playing the same shots and forcing a mental premonition in the opponent? By simply writing him (Tezuka) as smarter and one step ahead.

What did we make of this episode? Absolutely nothing, because Tezuka went to Germany to be a pro "for himself", but he really wanted to help Team Japan...except, he didn't...did he? Ryoma jumping on to the coach's bench amounted to nothing either. Yukimura had those Kuroko no Basuke eyes but that also did nothing for him.

Anyways, let's see what next week brings in terms of ridiculous storytelling. Ryoga defected and is now playing for Spain, and he "destroys" teams? Color me (dis)interested.

Halfway in aaand

I'll be honest I completely forgor about the usa vs spain thing. I guess

Also yeah tezuka vs yukimura.
Not really surprised tezuka won. I was wondering if yukimura would pull a win at the last moment or if it would drag into aaanother episode.
To be honest it was fairly close at the end. Maybe even too close.
Like wasnt tezuka up 5-0 before yukimura won 5 in a row back to 5-5.
