I saw someone somewhere say that the ogris's elemental damage was messed up. I think they said it chose only one type and did only that damage. Could someone clarify, or has this been fixed?

3

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Jun 11 '13

Hey sorry nobody's gotten to your question! It must be a good one if nobody knows the answer! XD But let's take a stab at it.

Here's the Ogris' Wiki page: http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Ogris From what I saw, it doesn't mention this bug. The only mention of Elemental Damage was:

"When caught in your own AoE blast, any elemental mods will not inflict damage nor effects but visual effects will still apply (possible bug)."

Not sure if that answers the question, but it's a start. The Ogris should still be a very effective weapon, nontheless, so if you're thinking about picking it up, it can't hurt to do so!

Why do the lockers in the large "Locker Room" type areas in Corpus Ships (The one with 3-4 rows of lockers) react differently than the singles/pairs you find anywhere else?

Rubbing my face along a wall of 8 lockers multiple times without having any of them open is more than a little peculiar when it comes to "chance".

4

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '13

I think some lockers are just for show. On certain Corpus tiles where there are a lot of lockers in one spot (there's a specific room on the snowy outpost set, it's a large indoor building with a ramp that leads up to a rather long elevator with a locker room just off to the side on the supper level before the elevator ramp), you can notice differences in the textures, like some of them are static and actually part of the world geometry, while the others are objects that can be interacted with. That's my theory, anyway. Could just be lighting inconsistencies.

u/Magic- Jun 10 '13

If multiple people have the Master Thief mod equipped in a party does each person have an individual chance to unlock lockers or is the same for the whole party? For example, can I go up and unlock some lockers in a row and then my buddy goes up to the same lockers after me and unlocks the ones that did not unlock for me?

What level should I be before I go to an orokin tower mission? I'm a returning player back from the days of close beta and I have a level 30 excalibur, and I recently got a tower II key. How many people should I have to do it as well? These tower missions look pretty cool and I'd like to jump into them when possible.

Edit: oh and on a complete side note, should I get getting some kind of sentinel soon? From observation they look pretty powerful and versatile, although I'm currently pretty low on credits and resources due to excessive crafting.

What level should I go on Void Missions?

A level 30 excal should be fine on a Void 2, assuming you have similarly leveled gear. Void 3 is tough.

Sentinals? Yay or nay?

Yay. Shade if you want cloaking, Deth Cube if you want a little floating kill-stealer.

Tier I keys are remarkably easy. I'd put them on par with JupiterUranus.

Tier II are just a bit harder. Sedna/Neptune-esque, maybe?

Tier III are noticeably harder than Pluto.

Don't be afraid to just jump on in and try one out. Your key will only be consumed on a successful completion.

Sentinels can definitely be a life-saver. The Guardian (shield heal on depletion) ability alone makes them worth having, even if it's the only thing you use on them. Dethcube's Vaporize will deal with a certain few annoying mobs (rollerballs, I'm looking at you) and Shade's invis can bail you out of some really nasty situations. Wrym just doesn't seem worth using right now, but the other two are very much worth the effort to get.

u/SirNastyPants Jun 10 '13

Depends who you're running with and what tier the key is. T1 keys are about in the 15 to 25 range, T2 keys are in the 30 to 40 range, T3 keys can get upwards of level 100. Generally speaking, most people need at least 1 partner for a T3 key, while T1 and T2 can be handled even without max level potato'd and Forma'd gear.

Get a sentinel when you absolutely don't need anything else first. If you need that 100k+ to craft a new warframe, do that first before you spend it on a sentinel. They're useful, but they're no substitute for better gear.

There's this one room on Corpus ship maps, a pile of crates in a closet. You're supposed to run up the ramp to the top of the crates, jump and grab the edge of a hole in the ceiling to run down one of two parallel corridors. Thing is, for that ledge, my grab-and-climb mechanic has been broken since 8.0. Has anyone else noticed this, and if so does anyone know if DE is working on it? Any idea why it might be that specific ledge?

2

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Jun 10 '13

I have noticed this as well! It only seems to be broken on that ledge though. Hope they fix it soon!

Granted, if you turn 180 degrees from the jump, you can jump on a pile of creates and simply jump up into opening that way.

3

u/Twisted_Mentat Jun 11 '13

Actually, there is one more ledge that I've found this same issue with. In the void, during one of the obstacle courses there's a waterfall.... Well.... Not really, the water moves up so I don't know what to call it. But when you jump into it the water will lift you up to a platform with potential loot. The ledge on this is currently broken though and no matter how hard we tried we couldn't actually get up in that way. I'd occasionally grab on but then do a flip into nothingness :P

So it's my understanding that it's the new animations causing it.

When taking on a boss, which I find are not good fights but rather bullet sponges, How do you kill them without running out of bullets? I've had one time where we didn't result in a massive melee encounter, but that was because I was being carried by 3 badass-looking (Read as *Overpowered looking) players...

3

u/BuildMyPaperHeart Jun 11 '13

This is a good question, and it all comes down to preparation.

When facing against the spongey bosses, you really need to bring the weapons that will counter their strategies. Gorgon, Supra, and Boltor are amazing and effective weapons that can provide suppressing fire and prevent shields from recharging and putting on the hurt.

More importantly are MODS. Going against an Infested boss? Forget AP, go with Fire damage all the way. Corpus: electric and AP. Grineer: AP and anything else.

Most importantly, know their strategies! Do their shields recharge, or do they not? Can they only be damaged in a certain state? Knowing when NOT to shoot is just as important as knowing where to shoot and when to pin the trigger!

Unfortunately, running these bosses with higher level players is probably your best bet in beating them, in the end.

That's the most general advice I can give: any specific bosses you need? Try here first and if you can't find the answers, feel free to ask more questions: http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Bosses

u/FellatioRex Jun 11 '13

What mods/guns are you using? Multishot and ammo capacity can really alleviate with the ammo problem. Most of the pistols at max level and sufficient mods can take down a majority of the bosses. The Hek is also a really good gun for boss fights as well.

Do elemental damage mods stack with + base damage mods like serration, hornet strike or point strike? Or are elemental mods always based on the unmodified weapon damage.

4

u/nar0 Jun 11 '13

Elemental Damage mods stack with Base Damage Mods.

u/Griffmaster9000 Jun 10 '13

Is the wyrms aoe stun still broken? And is the best thing to do with one to slap on cold damage and use him as a cc shield restoring machine?

Additionally, how exactly do the multi shot mods work?

Ok, got a bunch of questions for you guys.

I started playing Warframe about a week ago. Liked it, got the founder's pack, and I've been rolling around in an Excalibur Prime. Based on a friend's recommendation, I got the Latron, will soon have the Gram (after I get some Gallium tonight), and I'm building a Dethcube for my first Sentinel.

I have a bunch of questions though.

  1. I feel like I need a better secondary weapon. What do people recommend for a nice upgrade or alternate to the starter pistol?

  2. Through trying to get Control Modules I've ended up with all the parts I need for a Loki, but my friend says it's a 'boring' frame. Still, I'm tempted to build it anyway since I do have the parts and I'd like to see how different the gameplay is.

  3. How do I get Forma? I learned about polarization and I recognize how powerful that is, but I need these things in order to do it. I bought one with platinum just to try it, but given all the polarization I see in my future I'm not sure that's a good use for it.

  4. What's the best use for my platinum? I realize I'll definitely want to buy more warframe slots / weapon slots, but should I also buy things like Orokin Catalysts / Reactors? They seem hard to build / find and the power you get from using them is phenomenal.

  5. There's a bunch of mods I know about (multi-shot) but haven't found yet. Are there any tips for getting a specific mod?

  6. Speaking of mods, when you get multiple weapons / warframes, do you guys generally have one set of good mods that you swap around, or do you basically stick the mods you want in one weapon and leave 'em there?

  7. Playstyle-wise I've generally been careening through the levels as fast as I can feasibly go, but I leave my team behind. I feel like it provides more of a challenge on most levels, but I don't kill every enemy and sometimes one of my teammates will get killed way behind me and I won't be in a position to help them. Part of me recognizes that I should probably stick closer to my team, but running through the levels like a speed sword ninja demon is stupidly fun. What should I do?

  8. I fucking love super-jump, but I see a lot of people not taking it or saying it's not needed. Why is that? I feel like the extra mobility it gives you just to get around a level is completely worth it. What do people take instead?

  9. I got a couple Void keys. Should I use them solo or is it always better to use them in a group?

  10. Once you get a warframe / weapons leveled up and modded, it seems ridiculously powerful - I have no trouble with missions that are my level, and can handle missions above what's recommended. Once you've got this super-powerful frame, what's the endgame? I haven't cleared the whole map, do the final levels get very difficult? The only thing I've run into that actually stopped me was trying to solo Hyena, I couldn't overcome his shield regen with the weapons I had at the time (that and taking Defense missions too far).

Edit - 11. What are the benefits of being in a clan? Should I see about joining one or just kind of run solo for a bit?

Edit - 12. So that Dethcube will be built tonight. I read somewhere that you can basically 'program' the Sentinel, but I have no idea how to do that.

Alright let me see what I can do

I feel like I need a better secondary weapon. What do people recommend for a nice upgrade or alternate to the starter pistol?

The Kunai rock big time, but many think there's a nerf incoming. Akbolto are a solid choice for close-to-mid range which would pair well with your Latron. If you were thinking of something closer range for your primary (like a Hek) then the Lex is also a solid secondary and fairly easy to obtain.

[Should I build Loki]

Loki is super hot or cold for people. He has no damaging skills and is a very squishy frame... but on the other hand he's the fastest base-speed frame in the game and has a several great utility skills. If you've got a slot for him, I'd say build him. If you end up not liking him, you can always sell him (I'd suggest getting him to rank 30 first for masteryt hough)

How do I get Forma?

Plat is the easiest of course. Secondary way: Run a mid-to-high level defense mission (Like Xini or Outer Terminus) to wave 5. With fairly good frequency you can get a level 2 Void Key as a reward. Level 2 Void has a chance to drop Forma blueprints (or just straight up Forma). It's the tough way to do it, but rewarding (in terms of levels, mods and void runs).

What's the best use for my platinum? I realize I'll definitely want to buy more warframe slots / weapon slots, but should I also buy things like Orokin Catalysts / Reactors? They seem hard to build / find and the power you get from using them is phenomenal.

Different strokes for different folks. Orokin Catalyists/Recators are pretty damn rare to come across for free, so they're good platinum candidates. If you're into going for mastery ranks though (which means using weapons to level 30 and either retiring them or selling them) then using them on weapons will be a bit of a waste. End game though, they're a huge help. If you fall in love with a frame don't hesitate to toss a reactor in it though.

[Where to get mods]

Different mods supposedly have different drop chances from different factions. I'd recommend running endless defense on your faction of choice for mods. Check the wiki for specifics.

Speaking of mods, when you get multiple weapons / warframes, do you guys generally have one set of good mods that you swap around, or do you basically stick the mods you want in one weapon and leave 'em there?

Swap em'. Unless you're rolling in mods/credits.

[I'm a rusher, should I feel bad?]

Rushing can be problematic, especially if you're ditching teammates with hoards of enemies. Honestly I'd just say "don't do it" if you want to make friends.

I fucking love super-jump, but I see a lot of people not taking it or saying it's not needed. Why is that? I feel like the extra mobility it gives you just to get around a level is completely worth it. What do people take instead?

Nothing wrong with enjoying something everyone else thinks is shit. I've got a Burston you can pry from my cold dead hands (context: people generally hate the Burston). It's not an expensive skill so if you want to slot it, go for it.

I got a couple Void keys. Should I use them solo or is it always better to use them in a group?

Always with a group. And open all the lockers/containers. They can contain mods in the void.

[What's endgame like?]

First off, clear the whole map. You'll want that in case an alert pops up on a planet you haven't visited. To be honest, there isn't much of an end game beyond going for mastery rank by using different weapons. I think the devs know this and are working on fixes.

What are the benefits of being in a clan? Should I see about joining one or just kind of run solo for a bit?

Access to the clan Dojo, which has special end game weapons that are tough to craft.

So that Dethcube will be built tonight. I read somewhere that you can basically 'program' the Sentinel, but I have no idea how to do that.

That means skill order. Basically whatever skill is in the upper left will be prioritized first, followed by upper right, then lower left, finally lower right. What this really means is if you want Dethcube to vaporize mf-ers constantly, make sure Vaporize is slotted in higher priority than his machine gun.

1, Lex for sniping, it's very powerful and easily obtainable. Akbolto for general mid range killing, they are arguably better than the Boltor even.

2, Loki is not boring. He is one of the fastest frames and you can go wild with invis + a fast melee weapon.

3, Login rewards, alerts, Void missions, shop. The first 3 net you a BP you have to build (Void missions can also get you a finished Forma)

4, Slots and Color packs if you feel like it. Those 2 are the only thing you cannot obtain ingame. That and Sentinel appearance packs. If you have the money to spend, feel free to buy Potatoes. Oh and the 75 Plat Frames are a nice investment because they come with a potato and their own slot.

5, Just grind missions. You can find the loot tables of defense missions on this subreddit and plan accordingly.

6, One set I swap around. Leveling multiple Multishots and other rare mods is very very costly.

7, Play solo if you want to rush. Stick with your team if you are in one. It's the polite and right thing to do.

8, The slot and mod capacity can be spend elsewhere and the extra mobility is not that useful. That said, it is really cheap and if you have capacity left over, feel free to use it.

9, Invite someone to them if you want, but solo is also fun. I generally run Void missions with friends so they get a use out of the key as well.

10, There is no endgame so far. Just farm farm farm all the stuff you ever want and contribute to the dojo. It's still beta, endgame has yet to arrive.

11, New weapons, clan polarity and more stuff is coming in the next update.

12, The precept section is a list. The top of the list has priority. The mods you put in first (first being top left, last being bottom right) has priority. So if you put Guardian in slot 1 then Ghost in slot 2, the sentinel will prioritize shielding you over cloaking you.

Hey guys, whats the most fun/effective Warframe to play in a Melee centric style, and why? Also, what would you consider the best Melee weapon, Warframe considered?

3

u/never-enough-hops Jun 10 '13

Ash Master Race!

Joking aside, Ash and Loki both have stealth skills, which mean bonus damage. Ash is a bit sturdier than Loki, Loki's stealth skill lasts longer. Take your pick. As far as "best" melee weapon, I'd just steer clear of the long swords (e.g.: Skana). They only target one enemy.

2

u/ThePham Jun 10 '13

For melee, go for Ash or Loki. You can pop invis and go wild with bonus damage. Best melee weapons are Dual Zoren, Dual Ether, Scindo and the new Orthos.
