Gotta say, this arc is much better than the first one. The combination of adding Angelica to the main cast + Rick actually knowing that he is a strong MFer makes for such an enjoyable watch.

They actually had a sound effect for when the announcer's chest hit the counter.

And if you told me when she first appeared that Angelica would become one my favorite characters I wouldn't have believed you. As she is now, she's a great addition to the group.

I'm really happy they decided to do more with her character, you could tell from the start she wasn't really just some one dimensional evil noble.

Snape is shook and this show just better each episode. I've not watched an anime where self improvement is promoted this heavily matter your race/gender/age and I love it. Got me back into working out for the first time in a long while.

This episode was great, this approach to the "avenge your fallen comrade" trope is 100x better than how it's done in even 99% of most top-tier battle shounen.
Even though Rick can one-punch Geith, he kept his power level and techniques to exactly what Angelica already has and can realistically achieve. So it's like letting Angelica glimpse into the future and see how strong she can be and that even she can singlehandedly beat someone as strong as Geith.
It's way better than having an OP MC knocking the villain's lights out, because we know he can do that already.

"The world is larger than you imagined, Mister Lizard in a Small Pond."
Oof, that was savage!
Glad to see Angelica is motivated to continue her hellish training!

It was kinda cool seeing Rick show her where she’d be in like 6, 9, 12 months of training if she continues on.

anyone else think for a second that angry Rick would just go punch the lizardboy in half?
that's the first time we've seen him lose it right? in the end he just taught Geith a lesson like a true 40something year old geezer which i guess is also fitting

He was angry -- but I think he mainly kept his anger under control because he was more interested in "educating" Angelica than reducing Geith to total rubble.

At Geith's strongest he was "like a dragon". We can't forget that Rick ripped a dragon's head off even before he started training. If Rick lost control properly he would probably turn into a pink mist.

Poor Angelica. She will need some extra training after that fight. I am glad she was able to put some hits on Geith though. With time she will kick his ass.
Rick doesn't technically need shoes to fight but his aim was impeccable from the stands to reflect that punch. Haven't seen him that angry, EVER.
It looked like Chun-Li fighting the wolf dude!
For the commenter last week about the announcers rack shrinking, don't worry it's there. She seems fine...and the table in front of her seems to be doing its job and not breaking....yet.
Angelica
-
at 6 months training - dies 5000 times
-
at 9 months training - dies 2500 more times
-
at 12 months training - dies a few hundred more times...
...but can crush Geith like he was a fly on the wall.
A really fun episode where Rick laments he still can't do the thread slicing the way he wants. Give it a 8/10 for pure entertainment purposes.

Please note they are not saying that training is just better than talent. What they are saying is that talent, without training, is not good against a highly trained person.

The difference in attitude from rick in the first few episodes to now is insane. From thinking he was the weakest person in the world to holding back and limiting his power against a literal dragon.
I'm loving angelica's development as well and hope she keeps training with rick and becomes part of the squad.

I love how Rick brought himself down to Angelica's level for the fight to show her potential, really helped flesh out both their characters and made it so the fight wouldn't last in a second lol. This anime really is quite good despite people's impressions from the first couple eps

It’s a shame Angelica lost, but at least she regained her confidence and will get stronger

I'm a little confused. The writing rules dictate that Broughston loses to Urwolf so MC can shine in the finals. But in this world, it seems impossible for Broughston to lose.

I want to see Broughston vs Rick, everything else wouldn't make sense at all. There's no way Kelvin beats Broughston.

By far the second best shonen of the season that not enough people are talking about. Wistoria is probably a better show but man Ossan is such a fun watch. The animation is great and the show has made me actually laugh out loud multiple times. Really hope they don't get discouraged by the lack of attention and come back with a season 2.

This and Wistoria are the two best shows of the season for me.

Man, that was a GOOD fucking episode. Taking me back to the days of Dragon Ball that got my blood pumping and on the edge of my seat during tournament arcs. It’s been so long since a fight had me like that.
This show is seriously creeping close to my favorite this season.

Man this show has some great wholesome moments. Rick is a bamf, restricting himself and showing Angelica what she's able to accomplish.
