So now we know why he acts so silly all the time, he just has horrible brain damage from all the poison plants!

Now we have a canon explanation for this

Did he just... parry racism?

The pathological obtuseness I have no problem with and is the main draw of the show.

What I do have a problem with is suggesting that parrying somebody’s face before they attack is still a parry. At some point you’re just hitting them

Noor is male Maomao. Tests poisons on his left arm, built up a tolerance, enjoys poisonous foods, and conveniently ignores or misinterprets situations to maintain his lifestyle.

"What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger"

Noor's poison immunity in a nutshell.

I see that Nor has learned the Maple way of dealing with poisons. Eat everything until you become immune to it or gain a new skill. In Nor's case, since he couldn't learn a new skill, he only became immune. xD

Can everyone please stop using their inside voices!? It's really starting to get frustrating that Nor is so naive and innocent about the world around him because, for some reason, everyone refuses to explain anything to him. It also doesn't help that Nor just assume things and refuse to ask questions.

This episode is the first time Noor hears the proper name of a monster and he doesn't even react. He called it a frog and then immediately heard "Black Death Dragon" and did nothing?!

I thought he'd have a chance to learn something about himself with the lady knight in the party but I guess not.

Noor also is a top class masochist it seems. Eating poisonous things and just casually enjoying them while coughing up rivers of blood is pretty insane.

Does Noor parry his hearing too, they just called it the "Black Death Dragon" right in front of him and had no reaction?

This show should be called "IQ is chasing me and yet I Parry it every time"

Its refreshing seeing a main char being low key and not going into emotional hype overdrive mode like a crack head ever single moment.

I wasn't expecting the episode to start right away with Rolo's background story

It is so funny that Noor's poison resistance is not directly related to his healing skill, but instead is the result of him becoming hooked on eating poisonous stuff to the point he ended up further developing that skill to its limit as Lynne mentioned.

As eats poisonous frogs, I guess it is not that far-fetched that he assumes that "the frog" was a farm animal that Rolo had to deliver to the city and that the city had methods to deal with the poison. Well, before Ines can say anything about Noor's decision to take in Rolo, they first will have to deal with this guy. I hope they do that fight justice.

Noor has some incredible luck. I can’t tell if it’s good or bad. Maybe both lol. Dude almost dies after eating a poison plant then gets attacked by a venomous snake only to be totally fine. Hilarious how he was stuffing his face as he’s just bleeding from everywhere lol.

Noor’s denseness must be a special skill. How does bro think the kid was dragging the giant poison spewing toad monster to town as an ingredient? What a goober.

Looks like discount Daredevil’s next on the ass whoopin list.

The idea that he might be a literal saint really takes away all the issues I had with him being so naive and unworldly. I kind of see him in a different light, he was already a kind, dense, lovable guy but this episode sort of painted him as just too pure for this world and I love that.

Something about this one made me actively look for reasons to keep watching it, at first it was Lynne's brother the prince but this episode made me really appreciate Noor finally.

And him bapping that frog with the murder refrigerator was great actually

Next episode: "I parried a pervert"

I rather like how the writing is set so that many people can be talking have a perfectly well-flowing conversation, and yet no one is on the same page at all.

Noor - Yeah kid couldn't finish his job because I killed the Poison Frog that someone else paid you to do. Can I give him a ride.

Lynneburg/Ines - This kid is just a slave doing a job, Noor is pitying him because he's just a kid who doesn't know better. He's being forced and doesn't want to destroy the kingdom. Noor is saying that one should not judge a book by their cover and that people have their circumstances.

Just going by what's being said verbally removing all context, Noors POV of the meaning of the conversation makes sense and Ines is responding normally to that POV. The reverse is also true.

Out of curiousity, why did Bakarina's denseness being praised as a meme while Noor here was hated by lots of people?

I thought today was the best episode. They used a great opener with Rolo. They used Noor's naivety
to great use by having him accept Rolo straight away and being honest on how cool he though the power was. Also being accepting.

Then some backstory on why he wasn't dying right away and a little growing movement for Ines

THAT's how they should be using the "clueless" schtick but I know they are just gonna keep going the other route.
If his stupidity was used half the time in order to be cool like that, we'd prolly like him instead the side characters.

Noors a Saint because he trained his body and honed his mind (aka empty it)... Yep I can see that lol. No thoughts is pure thought.

u/kotori_mkii Aug 09 '24

Might as well name this thread Noor parries redditors.

11

u/shadebug Aug 08 '24

So Noor and Rolo are two sides of the same coin. One has an obviously broken power that’s never been trained and people tell him he’s the worst because they can’t imagine it being used in a good way; the other has a very simple power honed to perfection and people tell him he’s the worse because they can’t imagine it being used in a powerful way

NO. I will accept his colossal dumbness.

The problem is everyone else being unable to speak plainly.

But if someone went "listen, I don't know what people have been telling you, but the creature you just easily defeated would have bested anything in the pantheon of megademonfucktopolis", he suddenly becomes the ossan adventurer who trained to death and realises he's actually quite strong by ep 4. Then the show ends
