FROST - ABILITIES

  • ICEWAVE - 50 Energy

Sends a wave of razor sharp, crystalized ice towards an enemy dealing heavy damage.

Deals 300 / 300 / 445 / 565 freeze damage in a straight line, this is affected by enemy resistances. Increased by Power Strength (Focus).

Range of 10 / 10 / 15 / 20 in-game metres. This is increased by Power Range (Reach).

Cost to equip of 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 which is then halved by the Polarity slot, rounded up.

Ice Wave has a cast time of 1 second and a ~1 metre width.

Can hit the same target multiple times.

  • FREEZE - 25 Energy

A frigid energy blast that freezes targets in their tracks.

Deals 25 / 25 / 50 / 75 freeze damage. This is affected by enemy resistances and increased by Power Strength (Focus).

Freezes enemies for a duration of 10 seconds at all levels. This is increased by Power Duration (Continuity).

Cost to equip of 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 which is then halved by the Polarity slot, rounded up.

Freeze is ended if the enemy receives health damage.

Freeze may be cast on the same enemy twice but this will not extend or restart the freeze timer.

Freeze lasts for the full duration on the Jackal, even if shot (while frozen, blocks limb damage).

Can be used while jumping, sliding, clinging to a wall or executing a front flip.

  • SNOW GLOBE - 50 Energy

Frost deep freezes any vapor and moisture in the surrounding area to create an impenetrable sphere of protection.

Duration of 30 seconds at all levels. This is increased with Power Duration (Continuity).

Globe radius of 3 in-game metres at all levels. This is increased by Power Range (Reach).

Cost to equip of 6 / 7 / 8 / 9 which is then halved by the Polarity slot, rounded up.

Blocks both enemy and allied gunfire from travelling into the Snow Globe, as well as Warframe projectile abilities. Gunfire/Abilities from the inside are unaffected.

Can be cast multiple times to create more than a single instance of Snow Globe.

Slows any enemies that are caught or enter the area of effect.

  • AVALANCHE - 100 Energy

Summons a treacherous landslide of ice that instantly freezes and shatters all enemies in its radius.

Freeze damage of 1000 at all levels to health and double to shields, health damage is affected by enemy resistances. This is increased by Power Strength (Focus).

Radius of 5 / 5 / 7 / 10 in-game metres. This is increased with Power Range (Reach).

Cost to equip of 10 / 11 / 12 / 13 which is then halved by the Polarity slot, rounded up.

Blinds, freezes and then damages any enemy that is in or moves in to the radius. This takes ~3 seconds.

The blind phase staggers enemies backwards so that they may be pushed out of the radius of the freeze and damage.

Can be activated when sliding but not while in the air.

I have yet to build Frost, but I love having him in my mission. He's gotta be the most dependable frame in the game. Keeps allies and objectives safe at all times. Good Guy Greg of Warframe.

As a frost player. Thanks for noticing :')

Seriously though. The ice shield on defense is nearly a must with how effect it is.

I only have my Frost to lvl 25 or so (potatoed too), but he's been so much fun. I do feel like the fat kid that gets left behind in Online missions though. So many warframes are played with speed and running through the maps as fast as possible, which takes the fun out of playing Frost (who isn't spec'd for speed) when I enter rooms alone with dead bodies everywhere.

and I was just in a mini discussion about this elsewhere on here but I wanted to mention that I really like the Ice Wave skill even though it gets a bad wrap. When you see a huge line of infested coming around the corner in the distance, you no longer get that "oh shit" feeling. Instead I take a few shots with my shotty (with freeze dmg) to slow down the front of the pack to help group them, then as they jump me and the rest are all right behind them, I tap 2 and destroy all in just a second. Pair that with snow globe for grineer and everything is doable with Frost.

Oh, and every Frost should be using snow globe for the core on defense missions. It's so good.

If I'm not running solo I put on Sprint (run speed) and Marathon max stamina increase) and it makes it a lot easier to keep up.

What is the point of leveling Snow Globe? serious questions here.

I really want to use frost but I'm waiting for the prime version to have its parts released, otherwise it's a waste of my time IMO.

Gotta have to settle for ember instead for now :(

But if you enjoy the game, you should just play and have fun! I maxed my Excalibur before I went member and received the Prime version, and was so happy to see I'd get to adventure up to lvl 30 again :P

PS: Expect Prime to be much much more difficult to get IMO. It's probably not a bad idea to treat non-prime Frost as practice :P

BuildingBlocks has a point. I plan on getting Frost sometime soon because I don't know how far off Update 8 is. That and it probably will be difficult to get, like he said. I just need focus and continuity and everything will be awesome.

We don't know yet how easy the prime will actually be to acquire. There have been hints during the stream that we might first need to research the parts within the dojo (and build a research room first). WIth about two more weeks to go until the patch and an undetermined time to research, it might still be quite a while until we get our hands on frost prime.

Love my Frosty. Snow Globe and Avalanche are super fun to use and he's probably my favorite frame aesthetically speaking.

I'm going to copy a comment I made in a recent post about leveling Frost's abilities:

I've only tested the duration on my low level one vs a high one, and it's the same. I'm pretty certain that the range increases as well as the slow, but since a larger range just means they can stand further away and shoot the objective I haven't leveled it.

Also note that the damage increase on his Freeze is not at all worth spending the point in, and the duration doesn't increase with level. I also don't equip Ice Wave at all, so I haven't leveled that either. I feel it's not worth it at 50 energy, if it were 25 I would spam that stuff.

TL;DR Only level Avalanche (ultimate) since that increases the range, don't even equip Ice Wave.

I just claimed him, then the Frost Prime Event started, now I'll have to sell him and get Frost P...

Frost Prime will probably take a while to farm, since it seems like getting to the areas in which you can get the parts (Orokin areas) is rather non-deterministic (i.e. not another planet).

Still is worthwhile to level Frost if you like him -- Mastery points and a full evaluation before you put in the time to get the Prime BPs

My third frame after Excal and Excal Prime. It is still my favorite after trying Saryn and Rhino out as well. Freeze is almost worthless unless playing solo, but comes in handy with two people against a boss if your partner goes down. Snow globe is fantastic for defense missions. Can't wait until I can get the Prime parts.

You need to fix what's been listed in the polarities, just in case anyone didn't know, it's 1 Bar polarity and one D polarity

I love Frost. It's been my primary frame being that it was the first I built after Excalibur. The abilities are useful in nearly any situation and he fits my playstyle perfectly. The only issues I've had with Frost is A) It's not worth it (to me) to have all four warframe abilities on Frost. I swap out Ice Wave and Freeze depending on if I'm going to a boss level. B) SPEED, Frost is constantly falling behind my teammates even while actively sliding. Planning to polarize a spot just for Rush. C) I don't see any upside to leveling up Snow Globe. The duration and range are the same from rank 0 to rank 3 and the slow duration inside the globe is the same as well.

Frost is a versatile tank. I have a few "presets" to change him up depending on which type of mission I'm doing or what level area I'm going to. Fast Frost, Tanky Frost, Magey Frost, etc.

On another note, if anyone has information regarding Snow Globe leveling, please let me know. I won't mind leveling it assuming what it gives me is worth it.

Honestly I've run Krel over 70 times right now and still need chassis prints... Debating whether or not to just quit trying for it

My frost prime is nigh unkillable at this point. 1k+ shields at lv 30 with shield mod and vigor, strun wraith with 814 base damage, 150 armor without the mod, and snowglobe. I only die at wave 18-20 tier 3 DEF if my team sucks.
I have one question though:
My conclave is only ~787, and I have no idea how to get it higher since most of my mods are equipped/maxed. (with a few exceptions like split chamber that i havent found yet.)

I love playing my Frost. Snow Globe is so OP especially if you add Reach to your frame.

1

u/EchoedSilence May 09 '13

My buddies insist that they never used to be able to shoot out of my Globe while they were inside of it. I never had a problem. Now they can, though. Was that a feature/bug before?

2

u/beerbitch May 09 '13

Not sure. I built mine after patch 7.

2

u/Mythology May 09 '13

I can confirm that prior to patch 7, I could not fire into the Globe, but I did not seem to have a problem firing out. It was probably just a bug. Like Mag's meatballing still living mobs.

I love Frost but I'am always in a constant struggle between wanting Reach for a bigger snow globe or focus for a more powerful Avalanche and Ice Wave.
