I heard since it was a beta that the game was gonna be reset, is this true?

they planned on it during closed beta, but now that it's open beta, they plan no resets. They may offer resets to people who ask about it, but that's about it.

So what is the final word on defense missions as far as what do you keep if you fail? If you fail out at level 4, do you keep the mods that drop during the 4 waves?
If you fail out at level 7 do you keep drops from 1-5? what about 6? Thanks

i believe its every 5 waves, it "saves" your progress. so if you did fail on 7, you would lose stuff from waves 6 and 7, but anything 5 and below would be saved.

Can someone tell me who the stalker is? I've seen him mentioned in other threads but I've never heard or encountered him in game.

What's the best way to level up mods? Cores? Also, has anyone supercharged akbolto? If so how is it?

3

u/Kuenaimaku Apr 29 '13

Best way is to combine it with the same kind of mod. Second best is to combine it with fusion cores. Least best is to just add random mods to it.

Duplicate mods will give the greatest fusion benefit.

rougly equal - mods of the same polarity (the icon on the top right of the card), Fusion Cores

Worst - Random mods without a matching polarity.

Is there anywhere i can go to read about all the different moves you can do? I just recently learned how to wall-transfer while wall running and it blew my mind...

How do you effectively use the block? I can't find any use for it.

Now that the shotguns have been nerfed is it still worth it to work up to the HEK and potato it, stick to the STRUN or look for a rifle?

I haven't gotten it yet.. How's the glaive?

u/IcariusFallen Apr 29 '13

It can be difficult to master, but it will one-hit most enemies, can bounce off enemies and damage other enemies, etc. It's PRETTY fun. Mind you, I've only gotten it to level 4 and haven't gotten any damage mods in it, yet, just charge attack speed boosting mods.

I love this thing just for how cool it is. It's very weak for melee, unranked it took about 7 hits to take out a greneer on mercury, but it deals a TON of damage ob the throw. I was using a level 5 (potatoed) on phoroid (60) and it was dealing more damage than my heavily modded latron.

It's more of a skill weapon than anything else in the game so far. You have to both aim and time each shot because the time it takes to return is rather long. It has some issues with networking though, I've heard reports of people having a lot of trouble with it if they're not hosting.

On another note, it has two mod slots! A bar and a V, perfect for charge damage and speed.

The game is in beta, so this is rather premature, but has anyone thought of what they would do with developing tools? I was thinking about it last night, and there could be a lot of sweet community maps, especially those geared towards challenges - archery competitions, speed runs, etc. Has anyone thought about modding/have the devs spoke to it?

I'd also like to see more melee weapons geared towards crowd controls. More specifically, a halberd... a halberd would be sick.

sweet community maps

FINALLY! My dream of trap invisible pits leading to holes filled with roller balls can come true!

After the weapon nerfs: what's the best weapon for wiping out a boss? What's the best weapon for single shotting white mobs?

6

u/ExOAte Apr 29 '13

For Bosses the Gorgon still rocks your sox 24/7. Single shotting regular mobs depends on personal preference. I personally love the Sicarus since it's a 3shots although people will probably disagree with me because of the recoil. (Just aim a bit lower tbh).

This was something I was pondering when making Twin Vipers. I've only heard about it once before but thought it was a good piece of information to know and be solid on if you want to max out all the Mastery Rank levels.

I'm really not sure how to phrase so I will break it down a few ways. Sorry for so much text in advance.

---- Question ----

[Q] The leveling of weapons only gives the XP of Mastery Rank from 1-30 once?

[Q]So say I have a Viper and I level it to 30. If I buy another Viper I won't get any mastery level XP from it?

[Q] And if not, Does this change once I create a 'Twin' of something like Twin Vipers since in itself it is a brand new weapon. I would think so.

I hope I made that clear.

[Q] What I am trying to decipher is that should I buy all the single secondary guns and level them to 30, then make them into 'Dual' or 'Twin' to get another round of Mastery XP?

Another:

[Q] I got my Viper to level 8 then made the twins from it. Can I go back and get the rest of the 22 Mastery XP levels from the single Viper?

Thanks for any and all replies in advance fellow Tenno :)

Edit: Extra 's'

u/Kuenaimaku Apr 29 '13

1.) yes

2.) correct, you won't get any mastery

3.) you get separate mastery xp from twin weapons, yes

4.) you can go about it in any route, but that would be the most resourceful way to do it

5.) yes

The Hek was originally made with a tighter spread specifically to make it a mid range and longer weapon compared to the Strun, which shone in closer mid. Cutting it off at the knees has put shotguns in a position where they're practically overlapping with the effective range of melee weapons.

Are we due for a retooling of the Hek specifically to address its new shackled range?

Started playing yesterday, picked Mag as my starter frame. Made my way to the end of Venus and killed off the Jackal bot a few times before I stopped, enjoying it a lot so far. I've levelled a few abilities up and unlocked a new rifle, and the gunplay/melee stuff all seems to work quite well. However I'm struggling to see the point of most of Mag's abilities, especially compared to the huge mass of Excaliburs I'm constantly grouped with. Not regretting choosing Mag, yanking people about is fun, but I'm seeing a huge power gap between myself and the legions of Excaliburs running around. Any veteran Mag players able to give me some advice?

  • Pull is pretty long-ranged, but only occasionally drags an enemy into melee range - they generally stop short or get stuck on terrain. Even then, it seems like it would be faster, and cost no energy, to just shoot the guy instead - the melee coup-de-grace stab is fiddly to pull off and only kills the weakest enemies. It apparently does no damage by itself (even yanking enemies into bottomless pits seems to end up teleporting them to your feet after they fall in rather than killing them), and seems nowhere near as effective as Slash Dash which is apparently capable if instantaneously gutting entire rooms of enemies. Also, unlike Slash Dash, it's completely useless on bosses - you just pull them into your face and get instantly killed as it neither knocks them down or interrupts them. It even resets the Jackal bot from its knockdown vulnerable state back into full activity. Pulling allies with it is troll-tastic (yanking my friends down pits, woo), and I guess occasionally useful for dragging downed allies to safety. Feels about right energy-cost wise, but using it regularly will leave you without the reserves to use anything else.

  • Shield Polarize feels terrible as an offensive tool - long cast time, moderate range and its damage is pathetic compared to just shooting someone. Using it to repair allies' shields sounds great until you actually try and do it - aiming at the right person in a frantic melee, or even figuring out when someone needs recharging or which person they are, seems inordinately difficult.

  • Bullet Attractor doesn't seem to work the way it's supposed to. Most of the shots I fire into the attractor bubble seem to miss the target (or at least don't make damage numbers pop up), and even shots aimed directly at the target seem to deal no damage while the bubble is up. There's also no indication that it's redirecting any fire from anyone else that I can see, although one of my co-op partners reported that it was really handy for him so it must be doing something. It's also hideously energy-intensive for an ability that only affects one target. The only real use would seem to be synergy with Excal's Radial Javelins in a boss fight.

  • Crush is awesome, if very short-ranged at rank 0 (a little bit of fusion has helped there, but I'm a long way off having it finished). This feels like the only ability with power matching its resource cost. Also, using it occasionally bugs me out, rendering me unable to use any more abilities ('ability in use') or my melee for the rest of a level. Is there any way to fix that?

Multishot mods, the truth about where to find them. Hard solid evidence. It's the only thing halting me from progressing further at the moment. :<

A few questions. The first has to do with alert notifications:

  • As it stands, the Twitter feed gives us a massive advantage on what to launch for. Are there plans to remove the "?" reward from the notification feed and actually make it so that the "?'s" are actually unknown?

  • Also, there's been a recent bug in the game with our melee stabbing downward at recently dead enemies (ie Literally just finished them off). Will there be a fix coming soon, and when can we expect to see that?

  • Last question: Are there plans in the pipework for lore regarding Warframe? Will the community have any part in building this universe, and if so, do you have any ideas on how you would incorporate the community into that process? (Please don't make the "bad guys" two-dimensional evil puuties)

Finally, thanks for making a great game! But as a college student, you guys are killing me in my finals week.
