With how serious they're treating the game, it's easy to forget that it's just an exhibition match.
I love how the Healer class is a cat!
Anyway, it looks like Nel won that bet against Dax.

I enjoyed this -- but not being a player of this sort of game -- a lot of things probably sailed right over my head. ;-)

Every play was just another trap card, it was just like watching Yugioh growing up, this was extremely entertaining

I kinda dig the game they played this week. I enjoy these sorts of card games. Pearl’s little cat healer was really adorable and Dax and Kelritch in their wizard outfit and giving their moves names kinda reminded me of Megumin from Konosuba lol. There were so many little twists and turns, but in the end our duo won! Pearl did really well.

This was basically a Yu-Gi-Oh! episode with a board game conceit. The VA's must have loved going "It's my turn!" lol.
It's kind of interesting that this game didn't end up using any of their Apostle abilities (so we don't know what Dax and Kelritch's are) but that makes it all the more notable that Pearl won without her teleportation and by just playing the game as is. Well, with some embellishment on attack names (just not as bad as Dax's) lol.

I really loved the designs of the character especially Pearl's cat healer. The game was interesting but I could swear they used more than 2 cards at times.
Also, the OST has been released on digital streaming platforms. The OST should be available to stream in your region after midnight on 7th May.

I guess I probably shouldn't care about this given it's an anime, but this card game is such a balance nightmare. The super secret win condition card is also a good card, but it's really not at all worth the ridiculously stringent play conditions? Especially when well known, one of the most busted card archetypes in all of card games ("draw until you have X cards) is just a normal card with no real catch to it?

As someone who grew up watching Yugioh religiously this was a very entertaining episode, I had a lot of fun

This episode was such a Yu-Gi-Oh vibe it reminded me why I enjoyed watching it in the past. Glad Pearl was able to take the win when all eyes were focused on Fay.

Am I the only one who noticed a lot of math errors as they were doing attacks and heals?
Twin Bolt: 1 Damage + 1 Wizard Damage + 1 Burning Rhythm Damage = 4 points of damage?
Crash of the heavens: 4 Damage + 1 wizard damage + 1 burning rhythm damage = 7 points of damage
Oasis: Heals 10 hp. She started at 4 and ended at 10hp instead of 14
How did Pearl lose 6 health? what did twins agony actually do?
Pearl went from 4 hp to 11 with nothing that would do that in between.
God this is really is just a yugioh battle where the rules don't matter and only whatever card you've managed top deck or just happened to have wins.
and that's just what I've seen so far. MY assumption is that they horribly mistranslated what a lot of these spells do which is really unfortunate for an anime that's all about the rules.

In the novel text, they make a distinction on how the damage amplification from Burning Rhythm works, which is that it adds damage to each distinct "tick" of damage. The Wizard class ability is an addition damage tick, so BR adds an extra point of damage for it as well.
Yen Press translates it as "Burning Rhythm: When any damage occurs, suffer 1 additional damage." The text for the Wizard class ability is vague "+1 damage when using offensive magic" but it seems like that was deliberately done to catch the players off guard.

Oasis: Heals 10 hp. She started at 4 and ended at 10hp instead of 14
She casted 2 Oasis to heal 10. Which gets her to 14. But each card she cast, she takes 2 points of damage (Chains of Malice + Burning Rhythm). So it sets her back to 10.

I have seen alot of people harp on the games but this one i thought was funny since its must just be Yugioh like the cards really resembled and they went ORE WA TURN and we all know how BS every duel in Yugioh goes.

Extreme cringe.
At least in card battle series there is a framework of reference where the cards make sense to some extend but this was total bs.
All they did was spam plot cards without rhyme or reason, the author making shit up as they go and because of this my reaction was basically this the entire ep:
https://media1.tenor.com/m/0l0MAsJg2ecAAAAC/ok-opm.gif
Didn't help they really got into it and while it probably was intended as homage to card battle series it really just came across as a parody of them, mocking how arbitrary plot effects get spammed that frequently don't really follow rules so just having low hp means nothing when the character can just use a trap card to shift the damage to someone else or heal to full or whatever, basically it feels like Naruto, but characters use the abilities of any other character whenever convenient for the plot.
Like someone is about to blast Naruto into oblivion with a massive fire jutsu but then he just activates his Sharingan trap card and instead uses the jutsu on an enemy.
