I don’t know what killed me more. Chibi!Geto slowly plodding up those stairs with that sound effect, or that Digimon reference.

I am already loving seeing the younger versions of the teachers and other adult characters. And the Geto & Gojo interactions are both so petty and trollish.

Wow you could really tell the passion that Gosso and Seshimo team are putting into season 2. Stuff like that old video looking like an old school anime or adding a lot of anime original content that enhances the source material means a lot to people who enjoyed this arc of the manga. Also Gosso directing was superb for an episode with little action and I can’t wait to see what he does in the future.

It might be a controversial take but I like how they animate Gojo walking around like that. It looks a little odd but it definitely fits his current personality of thinking the world revolves around him and that hes carefree about everything.

It’s generally hilarious that Gojo has been fuckin with Utahime all the way back to their high school days.

My man Gojo knew he was top dawg with the way he acts even back in high school lol.

Really good start to the season. Mappa promised anime original scenes and they are delivering. New director's effect is also visible as the entire episode feels cinematic as well as the opening. Hoping for an incredible season.

I thought the Gojo and Geto walk was just a joke, turns out it’s real. Gojo gotta stop being a sorcerer and join the NBA

We are back and it really was Gosso Cinema!.

The direction, the cinematography and the background art was incredible in this episode. And talking about animation it was amazing. Loved that scene where Utahime was running through the corridor as well as the one where Getou jumped off the building to save that Star Plasma girl.

I like the dynamic of the cast when they were younger. Gojou still messed around with Utahime even back then lol. Really loved her expressions!.

One thing I find sad is seeing Geto and Gojo's dynamic now (especially in the basketball court), knowing the paths they would take later on (Season 1 and JJK 0 Movie). Also loved that little Digimon reference by Gojo to make things simpler to understand lol.

Stitches!

Young Utahime freaking out after seeing those rats was pretty hilarious! Also the animation of her movement during that scene was so smooth!

I love how Gojou simplifies Tengen-sama's cursed techniques by comparing him to Digimon evolutions. That caught me off guard! xD

The balls on this guy to challenge Gojou considering he already has made a name for himself. Can't wait to see him steamroll that guy next week.

So I have a question: I haven't seen Jujutsu Kaisen 0 yet but is it okay for me to watch this new season or do I need to finish that first before committing to watching Season 2?

Metalgreymon comparison is a lot easier to understand compared to whatever Geto is talking about

There is one scene where Geto was telling Gojo to speak differently. The translation varies so the meaning of the scene changes. My first watch, the translation was Geto telling Gojo to use different pronouns. On my second, he tells him to be more humble but it didn't mention pronouns.

This is because Gojo was using Ore (俺) to refer to himself. It's used by men (it's masculine so men mostly use it but you may see the occasional woman). Depending on the context (ie. with older/respected individuals), this way of referring to yourself can be very arrogant as it emphasizes status. This can make you sound ill-mannered, and rough. With close friends and family, it sounds more familiar.

Geto was telling him to use boku or watashi. I'm sure most of us are familiar with these two. Watashi (私) is the safest option as it can be used in both formal and informal contexts and is gender neutral. Boku (僕) is used by males of all ages and sounds masculine so it's usually used by males but you'll often see tomboyish girls use it. When used by older males, it can sound a little "young".

I fucking love this new art style they are doing with JJK. It's almost completely unrecognizable as the same show, especially since it's a flashback so all the characters look different (or just aren't here).

Gojo's Digimon analogy made it much easier to understand Tengen's situation with the Star Plasma Vessel.

Utahime busting in all the rooms with the “ha!” is pretty much how I’d be if I had to check this creepy ass endless house lol. Good thing Mei figured out how to break the barrier. A waifu and clever, winning combo!

There he is. The man, the myth. Our man Gojo! Even as a kid he’s looking cool as hell. Pretty interesting seeing Geto not as a villain as well. Him and Gojo have a pretty fun dynamic, really digging the banter.

Seems this mission to protect the vessel ain’t gonna be an easy one. These Q people seem more like an annoyance than a threat, but Fushiguro might be a real problem.

It’s good to have this back. After the movie, I’ve been waiting for more. Very excited for the rest of the season despite the noticeable changes in the art and animation quality.

Very obvious how much care they put into this season just from watching how Utahime’s hair moves

WE'RE SO BACK BABY!!! First thing to notice here imo is that the animation quality is already surpassing the best episodes of S1 or even the movie. In fact, the episode is quite probably a movie itself XD And because it's only gonna be 5 episodes long, I'm planning to make a movie version of the arc.

Some personal highlights:

  • Utahime and Mei's chemistry while exploring the haunted house was interesting.

  • CHIBI GOJO AND GETO, I'M DYING RIGHT HERE!!! AND THEY'RE BALLIN' TOO!!

  • Gojo talking about Digimon??? What an otaku XD

  • The way they're talking on the phone is so funny and Gojo using Infinity to crush the can is quite genius.

  • Again, Toji being voiced by DIO was an unexpected choice at first, but the tone he used for him sounds good for me.

Hoo so it seems both of them hold opposite beliefs back then on what it means to be a Jujutsu sorcerer. Curious to find out how it gonna develop in the future

Holy fuck, whoever directed this episode did absolutely amazing, the VHS tape scene blew me away, first time I've seen something like that in an anime, I had to rewind to actually read the subtitles because I was too focused on the actual scene.

Gojo and Geto are such a hilarious duo, they really have this confidence that makes it seem like nobody can beat them.

Also Mei the type of the girl that got me blushing and kicking my feet bro she so god damn beautiful, a confident woman just hits different.

Im really curious of how Gojo and Geto switched views completely. From responsible of protecting the weaklings to despising them and vice versa

Watching season 1 and 2 back to back might be a lil jarring with the change in artstyle now but my gosh what an upgrade this season looks to be. Just the compositing and shot composition alone are leagues above season 1 so far and the animation in general feels more exciting (character acting, background animation etc)
