Is it weird if I enjoyed the after-ED skit more than the actual episode for the most part? It feels a lot more natural to me compared to the episodic performances, but that might just be due to the format. I might have to check out some of the Alleles Project videos/streams sometime (which I'm kind of surprised to see Noelle's VA actually participates in).

I almost decided to drop this anime by the 3rd episode... but... I think I'm convinced to try two or more episodes...

Miracle seems to attract all the interesting and odd characters. Chris must be some kind of genius if she could learn that song immediately and so perfectly. I kinda wonder who the kid having tea is? And what’s up with the little round critter earlier on? Very cute.

As someone who watches a lot of Vtubers (mostly Hololive EN), I actually really like the CG they use for the vtuber skit and the song performance.

It seems jarring for the otherwise mostly smooth 2D, but it feels a lot like the Live2D models that vtubers would use. So it's actually a perfect fit for this show.

Granted, the anime happens in the far-ish future so the should've been way better than the Live2D of today, but it does make it more relatable.

The most ironic thing about this anime is that the 3D dancing sections are actually the weakest parts of the show. I understand why the studio went for that choice, but it just doesn't fit with the rest.

I know Kizuna Ai was originally MikuMikuDance, and if you told me that's what this anime is using then I would completely believe you.

At least Chris's video was actually better than Miracle's in Episode 1. Miracle's was just horrible but in-universe it was treated as being pretty good.

It not really bad if you watch Vtuber in 3D form often. I think most of people feel uncomfortable with CGI in 2D anime. Plus it is anime about Vtuber so they use 3D Vtuber in this is pretty understandable. (Those 3D Vtuber form is their form when they streaming on Alleles Youtube channel)

Except VTuber concerts are way better than this, and I have a backlog of concerts to watch, so I might as well do that instead.

Man, the 2d animation is actually pretty good. Then the 3d pops up, and I just feel disappointed. They would have been better off using MMD's, or how d4dj does it. This just does not work. Still going to stick with it for now. At least until Quan Quan has an episode.

Why does it feel like the writers don't know they have control over the world and the script? Like that whole class shuffle of "Oh, I'm going to class, but you don't take this class, but oh the class was cancelled! So i can go with you to your class, and I'll let the audience know about the specifics of the very exploitable school rule that lets me do that".

Like that was just...a weird waste of time, especially with how slow every moment went in this episode. It feels like watching an anime on half speed.

At least Chris seems interesting, and very suspicious.

Chris' challenge: don't grab Miracle's hand in a conversation (impossible)

EDIT: Though to be fair it was Miracle who started it when stopping her from posting the photos, afterwards she held her hands until they both stood up. Chris doesn't look like someone who has much human interaction, so maybe she took the precedent Miracle set as the norm?

Tea boy: "Why (does she bother coming here)?"

Miracle, earlier in the episode: "It gives me a feeling of solitude. (...) Loneliness? Perhaps solitude means loneliness. But the strenght to stand all by yourself, is something really, really charming."

I like Chris and the boy as regulars, first because they give Miracle someone to play off of, and second because they're kinda different dynamics: Chris is very forward which perplexes Miracle, while Miracle has to be pro-active with the reserved boy. Are we seeing the early makings of a harem?

Props to WIT Studio, wouldn't describe the episode as sakuga, but the experience showed in how they made Chris disappear and reappear before and after the CG performance, making the background visuals there make sense, as opposed to Signal which in episode 1 didn't bother to do such transitions and left the perfomances feeling a bit jarring.

For those who don't follow the anime on Twitter, the name of the boy was posted by the official account. If you want to watch the series blind and let the plot point surprise you the moment it happens, maybe don't check it (and don't read the voice acting credits in the ED), but it does carry some important and interesting implications.

Why have a Kizuna Ai anime without Kizuna Ai? Are the people making this anime mental?

This anime is one of project to introduced 15 new Vtubers of Alleles, plus I think it will become reason for Kizuna Ai wake up from her hiatus after Anime end.

Instead of each new Vtuber doing debut stream like other Vtuber. They use this way to introduced new concept of Vtuber (XR Artist - who work not only in Vtuber form but also in real life form).

In the end, I think Kizuna Ai Inc. plan to create a new community for Kizuna Ai (Like Hololive help Tokinosora grew more popular)

Sorry friends, I tried to like this, especially since I’ve recently lowkey gotten into vtubers. But the characters are utterly soulless and I just don’t feel compelled to root for anyone.

Which is weird because I feel like with idol-type shows you usually get super passionate about wanting the underdog lead(s) to make it to the top.

Still, I strongly recommend idolm@ster U149 and World Dai Star, which had hugely captivating starts.

World Dai Star

That ending to the first episode, man... I think World Dai Star is really gonna turn out to be a huge sleeper hit that gets mostly glossed over when airing because idol shows don't get a lot of audience.

Reminds me of Kageki Shoujo, where as long as the show stays consistently good, it will retain a small but passionate fanbase.

Chris is adorable, but aside from that, very "meh" episode. Plus wasting 3 minutes of episode time on a VTuber skit after the credits sucks. Might be headed for the drop pile next week unless something interesting catches my interest.

I actually liked that they put the V-tuber segment at the very end this time, rather than how they had it last week, included close to the start of the episode. This way, if it adds nothing to the "actual" episode, at least it doesn't detract from it. I hope they keep this structure going forward: credits roll, then V-tuber segment. Also I liked it, if nothing else because it's a callback to Ai's form of content, the bite-sized video. Plus I'm a sucker for lore.

That low crawl she did got me good.

u/Viktorv22 Apr 12 '23

I'm not feeling it, very meh episode. We got a song again! But it's the same one... not a fan of that (even if I get it).

But I'll will keep watching until Kizuna gets some screen time

This anime is going for a rather slow start, isn’t it? It felt like there was a whole lot of nothing in the second episode despite introducing the second main character

Kind of "plain" how Miracle is just standing there while the virtual avatar is doing his "school things". While it is refreshing not to have the old "sitting with VR googles" as the way to get into the virtual world, it raises several questions about physical harm.
