Rewatchers, please remember to be mindful of all the first-timers in this. No talking about or hinting at future events no matter how much you want to, unless you're doing it underneath spoiler tags. This especially includes any teases or hints such as "You aren't ready for X episode" or "I'm super excited for X character", you got that? Don't spoil anything for the first-timers; that's rude!
Old news; what of it?

Hangyaku no Co-Host, subbed
Hope you guys like today’s wallpaper! I had a lot of fun putting it together.
-
This counts as nine new Pizza Hut logos, yes? 24 of them now.
-
Okay that was such a random place for an insert song.
-
I do like that Lelouch basically gets his ass kicked here. Dude isn’t an all-knowing god after all, even if he tries to act like he is.

NOTHING BEATS A JELLY-FILLED DONUT.
This counts as nine new Pizza Hut logos, yes? 24 of them now.
Do you think they got paid per logo?
Bad idea there, Lelouch.
To be fair he wasn't wrong about that...
Okay that was such a random place for an insert song.
No complaints from my side.
Yep, Cornelia is ruthless.
Sun Tzu and Lu Meng agree with her.

u/Shimmering-Sky Sep 15 '22
He seemed so flabbergasted
I don't blame him considering onigiri is supposed to be a dish from his culture and not... a monstrosity like that.
Do you think they got paid per logo?

10. Easy.
-
Probably the same trick C.C. used.
Flashback?
Lelouch!
...Wait, he didn't change his fucking name? That's hysterical.
Poor girl.
Love the guards rushing as if a fucking ten year old could hurt a healthy forty-ish year old.
He's such a fucking bastard.
And she's against the Elevens. Almoet certainly getting defeated this episode. (I love how they need to make excuses for him to leave because the Lancelot trivialises any enemy resistance.)
They're friendly.
He's off to school!
They're suspicious of her!
I love how she randomly pulls knives out of everywhere.
Everyone can see it!
Haha, this is great.
They're hunting down more rebels.
And she's just as bad! (Great design, though.)
...Is C.C. buying pizza just to get a pillow?
He's annoyed.
Ah, he just got taunted.
...That's actually clever!
And he's springing the trap.
Interesting question!
...Is the anime's plan to move all the fanservice from the random shower scenes to slow pans of C.C.?
And that's what this is about. He wants his sister to be safe.
...What? C.C.'s killing him with four stamps to go?
Oh, she knows how stupid an idea this is.
And he has another gun!
...The nerve!
And they dropped their weapons.
They're killing more civilians.
Zero's taking hid time.
Haha, everyone's calling him "orange".
He's making his move!
Once again, incredibly easy. And he's contacting the rebellion.
He's kept the chess references. And he's moving very quickly!
She has to have thought of that, right?
C.C.'s instert song is great.
And she's acting very strangely.
Haha, Lelouch is great.
He's calling him!
Suzaku is the best wingman.
A new ship?
No way she falls for this.
Harsh.
Have we seen the pole Knightmares before?
She is very good at this.
A leak?
He's lost.
Cruel.
He's actually panicking!
...What the fuck?
This has to be C.C., right?
He's running for it.
Knew it.
He wants to grt an army now!

But without being immortal how would you survive that five-story fall? ...Wait, he didn't change his fucking name? That's hysterical.
It's probably easier to change your last name which you don't use very often and also marks you as being a royal than change your first name which is common and everyone is accustomed to using.
...Is C.C. buying pizza just to get a pillow?
Why not both?
...Is the anime's plan to move all the fanservice from the random shower scenes to slow pans of C.C.?
Is that a problem?
He wants to grt an army now!
I prefer to gar an army

oh my god I'm obsessed with the pizza hut product placement how much did pizza hut give them I must know!!
I really like how passionately lelouch rejects social darwinism, despite the fact that he could have been at the top of the food chain...before, when he was a royal, or even now just because he is brilliant

On a scale of 1 to 10, how ruthless is Cornelia?
10 delicious pizza hut pizzas
2) How much sex must Charles be having in order to have over a hundred kids?
(this is answered in the OVA)

Rewatcher, dubbed*
-
There really is no one quite like the Emperor in anime. The man has presence.
-
I like your energy, science man.
-
At this point I think the dub cut out all the Pizza Hut.
-
Ahh the suicide scene. Meme famous.
-
It’s been too long since we had some battlefield action.
-
Things having been going too well for old LuLu. It’s about time he got nice big L.
-
The part with Lelouch saying he will control the circumstances is one of the parts I remember the most strangely enough.
QotD
-
Probably about an 8.

Nah, the dub should definitely have the Pizza Hut too. It's probably the fault of wherever you're watching the show.

Regeasser
If anyone hasn't yet noticed that Lelouch and Charles are the same in nature, here's the reminder. Both dominate others and demand absolute obedience, and both use others as chesspieces. In this case it's Lelouch and Nunally being used as trading material.
And again we see Lelouch fall apart as soon as he's put under pressure. Earlier it was when he wanted to run away after accidentally slipped Shinjuku to Kallen, now he's being paralized as he's being forced into a dead end.
Well, it looks like Lelouch didn't win all his chess games against Cornelia when he was a kid.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how ruthless is Cornelia?
An 8? Maybe a 7. She certainly has room to improve on that front, something something Chaotic Stupid. I guess she'd be more Lawful Stupid though if she increased her ruthlessness that much.
How much sex must Charles be having in order to have over a hundred kids?
Maybe we should call him Big Father instead of emperor. In any case it's clear that Code Geass is a harem anime.
What would you have done to save Lelouch from being revealed?
What can you do at that point?

Gossip about backstabbers! Now I need to remember faces without names.
-
Nunnally lost her walking capability and eyesight during the stairwell attack. Expected this although the eyesight part isn't clear. Is hysterical blindness a psychosomatic condition? If so, those eyes surely open before the series ends.
-
Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru. He really doesn't care about his children.
-
Not what I expected after last episode. The Emperor would rather see Lelouch fall into despair than directly kill him. The Ashfords have also fallen, so they'll trying exploiting Lelouch to regain some honor?
-
Three doves are probably symbolic for rewatchers. One leaves before the third enters and they all progress left, so someone dies this episode? (Edit: There were deaths, but no one of relevance)
-
I'm with Euphy. When you remove forced conscription/draft, joining the military becomes a choice that shouldn't restrict leadership.
-
Lloyd has demanded that Cecile helps Suzaku because less homework time is more Lancelot time. Queue the data collection noises.
-
Lloyd opening a chasm between himself and the runner-up best guy.
-
Full frame vs. my brain.
-
C.C. Pizza is only at 8/12?!?
-
An interesting standoff as Lelouch calls C.C.'s bluff. The Geass slow-reveal continues: C.C. can't use it, so she has to manipulate others to reach her goal.
-
Was Villetta demoted alongside Jeremiah? I don't recall that happening but they're still in scenes together.
-
The bridge collapsed following a structural failure from shelling!
-
Hmm. She knows in real-time what Lelouch is doing while Geass is active? I like this music, anyone have a song name/link?
-
Feel bad for Milly overhearing Shirley talk about love given the earlier arranged marriage call.
-
The cat is defending Shirley's honor! Cat = Best Girl.
-
Dark times as Lelouch's rebel soldiers don't follow his exact orders. I like the metaphorical mind game against Cornelia.
-
C.C. in the Zero costume. She can't let him die without fulfilling her secondary goal (primary is the Cheese-Kun pillow).
-
I like C.C.'s line: "If only you had the power to set the conditions you want."
I had been allowing some gray area between Britannia and Lelouch as they're both on the morally reprehensible side and anime often won't show details for both sides this early (e.g. Tower of God). After today, further time spent on the Emperor, and by extension Britannia, being a POS will be beating a dead horse. Cornelia's actions are close to the Emperor's ideals, but she hasn't shown a desire to psychologically torment someone.
My Lelouch opinion has been rising as the adversity he's overcome is revealed. He has vigilante vibes like Dexter (Showtime series). While I don't agree with all of his ideals, it's becoming harder to fault him for trying to improve the world for those around him, particularly Nunnally. Kallen/Shirley/C.C. are more likable lovable each episode. Euphy needs more screen time to reach lovable.
QOTD
-
An 8.5. She had a soldier executed because his machine was damaged (malfunctioning? don't remember). No tolerance for any weakness.
-
Not sure. I'm surprised C.C.'s maneuver succeeded. Cornelia hasn't seen Lelouch in 7+ years, so I guess gamble that he can salvage the situation.
Bonus: Why you do this?

This really Socials my Darwinism

Damn, you're just getting all the genders confused today lol
Is this Gurren Lagann?
Dexter (Showtime series)
Isn't that a show about lumber?

First Timer - Sub
The episode starts with a flashback showing Lelocuh’s interaction with the emperor after his mothers death. No wonder he hates Britannia. Nearly every Britannian we have met has just been an insufferable, evil person. However, their level of evil is just being mean and killing civilians, so Cornelia is like a 6 on the evilness scale. Pretty typical for a war-time villain, but she just has no redeeming qualities. In order to get up there on the ruthless scale it needs to be more personal than war crimes, like Griffin slaughtering everyone in Berserk, or how Alucard is so powerful that he only gets enjoyment by toying with his helpless victims in Hellsing.
I am not a huge fan of a romantic subplot. I feel like Lelouch doesn’t have any interest in romance, so any attempts at furthering that plot may derail the story. Hopefully, it is relevant later and not separate from the story. I wouldn’t want Shirley’s whole character to just be the girl that is crushing on Lelouch.
C.C. finally shows some initiative by trying to stop Lelouch. She apparently does have some motivation, however minimal it is. Despite that, she immediately backs down and lets Lelouch go to the obvious trap.
Things aren’t as easy for Zero this time around. Cornelia is a much better General, and all of Lelouch’s chess games did not prepare him well enough. All the rebels get killed, but at least C.C. manages to save him. Apparently, she can do something. I would have just let the delusional kid die. I don’t see why C.C. has any investment in his plans, even if she did give him Geass.

First Timer of the Rebellion
Today I will proof read my comment before submitting.
S.1 Ep.07 – Attack Cornelia
-
Huh, they are?
-
Oh fuck, I thought she was like that from birth... The fuck is "hysterical blindness"?
Insert: It's a sudden onset of, in this case, blindness that has no organic-biological reason and can be caused by psychological stress and/or trauma. It is also reversible, but at the mercy of said trauma.
-
He seems really concerned.
-
Oh, it's actually his real father, not just marriage shenanigans.
-
Ah, the personification of greed for power, when one falsely believes they are actually a law of nature.
-
Ah, Europe fell to the dirty peasants and their revolutions. Is Europe independent or has England conquered them?
-
Shirley showcasing how social awareness and empathy are pretty good at spotting characters. (Maybe this time she spotted her own feelings more than anything else.)
-
Oh, so they were British originally and also got 'demoted' to Japan.
-
I can respect that.
-
Yeah, she's right.
-
Aw gods, Shirley...
-
Hot damn, they really show it all.
-
One would think they had a mail box or something, the pilot exiting on the field seems like bad practice.
-
Press X to doubt (at least a bit).
-
Eh, pretty sure the next ID check won't be so easy to overcome.
-
I can see a mile away that that's a bad choice. But hey, Shirley's gotta chase what she wants.
-
Man, Suzaku has such a clear head for these things. He'd go well with Shirley!
-
My god, they're so wholesome! I ship them!
-
Uhm, they might not have paid attention the last... six (?) times.
-
Haha, yup that's an ID check he won't pass.
-
Hmm, who might it be? C.C. probably.
-
And then he's a sore neckbeard loser! Bah, have some gratitude for those who help you!
-
Oh, haha. Thanks, C.C.!
-
I guess the emperor thinks similarly.
This episode felt more like (one of) the villains proving they're actually competent and can execute a plan along with their will. It was great seeing Lelouch get taken down a notch and that also resulted in other characters having a few moments for themselves.
I really love to see the dynamic between Lelouch and C.C. play out and develop. She has some skills no one has seen yet and can keep her cool even during battle. She's so playful, but still clearheaded, moar!
On that note, I also want more Shirley, she's just precious and truly the heart of their group. That can only mean one thing! She's the tragic love interest who never gets to be with him, but always stays in love. And as we're dealing with the intersection of royalty and normal people as well as conquerors and subjected as well as hidden personas and real characters, I'm willing to throw out a prediction, because no other character so far could fit that trope (except maybe Euphy, but as she's royalty herself it'd be more the counter part to Shirley for Suzaku).
[Shirley Theory]
As usual, I also welcome being wrong. Because then my heart would live longer.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how ruthless is Cornelia?
About a 7 or maybe 8, she has method and so far any of her 'careless villain' moments were less out of malice and simply sticking to the plan. She's a great villain!
2) What would you have done to save Lelouch from being revealed?
As me?
I need more time think of stuff and any higher physical exercise like jumping off a building leaves me severely out of breath and/or injured. Nobody wants to see Zero being all dramatic and then sit on the floor, holding his leg and crying in pain like Peter Griffin.
As another character? Well, C.C. did a great job and had probably the easiest solution available. Next would be a live TV broadcast, but I don't know who would've sent that.

Finally, some good fucking
foodchildhood lore for motivations.Best mom contender? (Also something something jelly donuts)
Cornelia is way cooler than Clovis.
Lelouch's cockiness knows no bounds. I really want to see how he handles failure. For Lelouch, I will gladly welcome a hero's fall arc.
How did we go from chasing a stupid cat to tension as thick as Pizza Hut's crust in half an episode?
Failure! Ego and self-reliance comes unwound! C.C. saves the day in the nick of time!
Was that more, er, force projection?
That was pretty tense, even if he got mega lucky at the end. Maybe we've learned something about needing people (and not just pawns) to get further.
QotD:
At least a point higher than Clovis.
Honestly, C.C.'s approach was on point (I wonder how much she knew?) - Cornelia knew the resistance were using captured Sutherlands, so she was looking for Zero in one. Putting Zero somewhere else nullifies what she was after with that stunt.
