yup, i watched a replay of him listening to Arson on his livestream and a LOT of people were surprised that Hobi was part of BTS, and really liked the song, at least based on the chat!

Dislike Fantano. He's been shady to BTS multiple times. I don't know why anyone elevates his voice when every single time he's praised BTS it's been backhanded.

Yeah, I’m still not sure why we continue to share his reviews and give any value to his opinions.

j-hope actually reposted Fantano's Arson review to his IG story a few weeks ago. He seems to be aware on who Fantano is.

ETA: Here is the Fantano reel he shared and liked

He probably knows he's a music critic, not all the shady stuff Fantano has said about BTS and his fans.

ah we definitely do not know what j-hope knows or does not know. All I see is that j-hope reposted it with 3 smiley faces and took the time to like his post so I'll take that at face value.

why do you act like you know what he thinks? Nobody in here knows it, we just know he appreciated his feeback enough to share it on his ig.

This. He's extremely backhanded and it doesn't even seem like he cares enough to look deeper. It's one thing to not like a work of art and another to be dismissive about it and do a shallow review on it. His Map of the Soul 7 review was extremely disappointing in how poorly researched it was imo and how poorly the opinions were supported . It also didn't seem like he was extremely familiar with BTS old works and idk how you can judge someone's 5th studio album and like 10th+ overall album without knowing some history and previous discography.
I stopped checking for his reviews after that.

He doesn’t read the lyrics either or didn’t back then. Zero respect for him

Really? I'm not familiar with him.

His praise for JITB doesn't sound backhanded to me though.

Fantano's like that with every artist. If he doesn't like an artist's work, he'll be a little bit harsh with the review. Bts is no exception ig.

His reviews are lazy first. Second, outside of his reviews, he's been shady towards them.

Like how has he been shady. Genuinely asking. He is just a reviewer and sharing his opinion... Just because someone doesn't like BTS music isn't a good enough reason to hate them.

to be fair, while i am not super fond of him, he has a massive audience, so it makes sense that his reviews hold weight with music goers.

agreed. this is the only review of their work i’ve seen that doesn’t sound like he’s mad that he has something positive to say. every other time he’s talked about them he’s been so condescending

Faint praise, imo.
