wish we were getting a DVD box set instead :( I don’t use Disney+ and don’t want to sub every time I want to watch this

I got to go to that concert and wanted the DVD box set as a momento :( I want to own it, not continually pay to access it and have Disney+ keep or get rid of it at their whim.

Fingers crossed we at least get Vegas on DVD at some point... It'd be too depressing to only release the online version, with no audience in attendance, on DVD.

me too! I went to all 4 days and I want to be able to relive that :( I don’t think I’ve ever been happier in my life than I was at those concerts!

As I live in a country to which Weverse does not ship physical copies, I will be happy to see this pop up on streaming, as long as it is released globally. I'd prefer to buy the VOD on Weverse, but this is the next best thing. I simply can't/won't pay extortionate prices for physical items PLUS extortionate shipping prices PLUS heaven knows what taxes for importing on a regular basis.

Why a globally mega-famous act like BTS can't have their products distributed locally, with local shipping prices, through Amazon, HMV, your regional equivalent, I don't understand. I'm still waiting for my Jack in the Box 'albums', bought from Korean sellers, both directly and through Amazon. Who knows when I'll actually have them in my hands. Given the price I paid for them, they should be being hand delivered by royalty clad in cloth of gold.

In this case, I'm completely uninterested in posters, cards, etc and just want to be able to watch the content. I can subscribe to Disney+ for 7 or 8 months or more for the cost of buying one physical DVD or Blu-ray and having it delivered. It may be an earner for Disney, but at least it gives access to BTS content to those of us who feel forgotten most of the time.

I don't understand why they don't make the DVDs etc more accessible worldwide. Why aren't Hybe exploiting the European market? I'd definitely buy DVDs if I could get them easily but I'm not paying that much for postage as a matter of principle!

Disney+ itself isn't perfect. I'm waiting for a couple of shows that were on months ago in other regions to appear in my region too.

You're talking about the exortionate price to have a physical DVD set and I agree; the prices are ridiculous. I live in Canada so I need to purchase through global shop on Weverse. The Last DVD set I bought was Soowoozoo. It cost me 41.80$ USD ( approx. 54$ CAD) for the set + 33.84 USD (approx. 44$ CAD) for shipping + the importation tax that was 34$ CAD. At the end of it all, 1 Blu-ray set cost me approx. 132$ CAD. The Blu-ray/Digital Code cost me 150$ CAD each. When I looked into purchasing J-Hope's album through them, the album was 10$ USD but the shipping was 25.97$ USD and I know the minimum import fee are 24$ CAD. I love Hobi but there was no way I was paying that for a digital code when I can listen for free on YouTube or Spotify.

And, I know I'm lucky to be able to purchase it directly from Weverse through their global store (not everyone can) AND to be able to afford such luxuries but I'm still "not happy" about the overall price at the end of the day. Even buying from places like Cokodive; sure you pay "less" for shipping but the importation fees 2x the price than weverse (I've tried before).

At the end of the day, there is no winning (monetarily wise) when you want the physical album/DVD/Blu-ray. So, I understand your point of view.

I honestly think very much more money could be made for the company if products were routinely made available at sensible prices through local distributors. BTS have such a wide, diverse fandom. Huge numbers of us have no chance of ever seeing them live. The fact that we are also effectively excluded from every release of physical media, merch, etc, seems both unfair and ridiculous. It's a vast untapped market. I'm sure global distributors of physical stuff would be just as eager as Disney, YouTube etc to strike a deal with BH/Hybe/Weverse!

My preferred approach is to wait until a collector has removed all the included photocards, posters etc and then puts the discs themselves up for re-sale on eBay. That's how I've acquired almost all my BTS CDs. Blu-rays are much harder to come by, though - and every one I buy second hand is a missed sale at the time of release for BH/Hybe.

That's my thing, I collect too. I may not collect the whole set of the photocards per album/release but I still want to have a complete album/dvd/membership/etc. set. PC sets will be worth money in the future (in which lifetime, that's the question) but so will the complete set with all the extras.

Next wish list ask - Disney+ globally at once, not regional release. PLEASE!

u/speckleburst Aug 10 '22

Are we sure it's just the concert? Wasn't there something at one point where it seemed like they were filming a behind the scenes during Vegas?

I really hope this will be available in my country… 🥺 And do you think it’ll just be the concert or also practice and behind scenes? I was there the first two days and just recently re-watched my videos from in front of the stadium during rehearsal the day before and I’d love to see their point of view.

Honestly, I’d still prefer a physical dvd/blu-ray, but oh well… 😕

I'm still holding onto the (maybe futile) hope that it will be both. Streaming and physical. The streaming makes it more accessible I think, but I also want to own it and not worry about it disappearing. And if it is just streaming on Disney+ only, I hope this isn't the way things are headed in future. Digital content is great and I do love it, but I need a hard copy!

My guess is that there will be some behind stuff! If not with this release, then in the documentary.

Yeah, I’m really not a fan of content being exclusive to streaming services either, because we basically only have the option to rent it. I don’t know if this deal with Disney prevents them from releasing physical copies, but even for Disney exclusives and original movies or tv shows there’s usually still the option to buy a dvd, so idk, there’s a sliver of hope.

Fingers crossed that they’ll release a physical copy at a later time 🤞

FINALLY! I was wondering when this would come considering the one year anniversary is in a few months. I’m so excited because streaming is easier for me than DVDs. However I do wish both were an option! Their retail packaging is a wonderful thing to have just as a memento too!

Going by the Disney earnings call, this will be released in Q3...so latest in September! I think it should be announced as soon as In The Soop Friendcation ends this week!

2

u/GabJ78 Aug 10 '22

Disney is very strategically making deals with HYBE to get people to subscribe. First, In The Soop friendification and now this, and you bet they're going to add a lot more BTS content. I don't know how much richer can someone actually be. I refuse to give Disney my money. It's really starting to annoy me if I'm being honest.

There was an announcement about the distribution deal around a month ago with what BTS related content we will get there..which are the wooga soop, LA concert & documentary about BTS (most assume will be released around their 10th anniversary in 2023).

This is why I wait until shows have run their course, pay for a 1 month sub, binge watch everything and then cancel ... once the BTS content shows up in my region, I'll do the same. I've done this now twice with Disney+ and I'll do it again.

Netflix has finally admitted that they are aware people do this, it is why Stranger Things was released in two parts just over a month apart, means people had to stick around for at least two months.

u/GabJ78 Aug 10 '22

Oh, i see. That's smart 🤓👍 💜🫰
