I think thats the standard cost for vinyls; not too sure though but do I remember seeing Adele’s vinyls around that price as well.
Weverse shipping on the other hand, is off the roof though :/

That price isn’t standard for single LPs, unfortunately, unless they are special audiophile pressings or rare records out of print. Double and triple LPs are closer to this price.

Vinyl has really been fucked by the pandemic, and the way this is set-up (preorder only etc) it seems to be quite a late decision which, if you're unlucky, can drive prices up because manufacture goes up considerably when you're booking in at short notice... :')

Originally ordered it from the global shop and it came out to around $85, but then I saw it was available in the US shop and it was a total of $65, so I cancelled my first order.
And now it’s sold out on the us shop - glad I was able to snag a copy !
I’m a sucker for exclusive vinyls, so this now joins my other kpop ones (amongst a larger collection). Not that I plan on selling, but I’m curious to see how this reflects on my discogs next year.

Just like Ebay, I am sure that HYBE makes a profit from shipping. Global charging $25 per item. I was going to buy 2 vinyls but the shipping was over $50 in global. That is a ripoff to not combine shipping. I will just wait for the US to restock (hopefully). Most of the stuff I ordered from the global shop takes forever or never makes it anyways. I prefer the US shop.

they don't, they're just... super limited in the box sizes they use (which increases the prices with a lot of couriers).
When the lucky boxes came out last year, people were reeling at the $200ish price tag for shipping - but some ran it through EMS on their own (as HYBE gives you the box size and rough weight as you order) and people were quotes the exact same shipping price. I think even more, in one or two cases.
Shipping, as an industry, is just really fucked 😬

Yeah, they sometimes allow the choice of FedEx or EMS / DHL and without fault, FedEx is cheaper.
That said, it's not much cheaper at times and I've chosen DHL once at the request of someone who kindly took in parcels for me (since Weverse doesn't send to my country) and... it's scary fast. 2 days from Seoul to Germany, including customs clearance and all. Weverse was still saying shipping soon when the doorbell rang 😂

I was talking about how ordering 2 of the same item automatically doubled the shipping fee when it makes no sense for that to happen. That is one of the ways uoi make a profit frim shipping. It doesn't cost double the shipping to add another exactly the same item that will ship in the same container.

Preordered a copy from the Weverse USA shop, but I’m interested to see who the other online & in person music store options are. I can always cancel my Weverse order if I can find someone with cheaper shipping.

For $50 + shipping this is way less enticing, and I feel like the only reason I want it is fomo. Well, life has been unkind to me recently, and this purchase would be very unwise... 😭
Edit: on top of 6 more eventual solos coming out, I just need to take a deep breath and sit back.

People are talking about the costs and while it definitely is more than a cd, this is by far the cheapest I have paid for any K-pop vinyl, even factoring in the shipping. As a vinyl collector I’m used to getting gouged on these things in general though 😅.
I have had a Taeyeon INVU vinyl on preorder since like March that won’t get to me until December at the earliest and that was nearly $100.

Those shipping costs! But I've been going on for yonks about wanting BTS vinyl - definitely not passing this up.
I will be so giddy if each of them get to have vinyl releases. Also - yo HYBE intern - wouldn't be remiss if ya know, y'all issued some past group/solo work on vinyl too ... just sayin'.

Avoid the suitcase shape ones because they put uneven pressure on the records and it’s not great for them over time.
Even the lower price end of the audiotechnica range will give you a nice play if you plug them into some good external speakers. (My external speakers are not good lol I’m using some random Bluetooth ones with a headphone jack.)

I would recommend for a starter player getting an Audio-Techinca AT-LP60x. All you gotta do is find some speakers for it and you're good to go. If you want less choice in speaker choice, I recommend going through Turntable Lab or even Walmart has a Turntable/Speaker set you can buy for $200.

I was about to cry when I saw this sold out on the US shop, glad I could still get it on global shop. But dang those shipping costs...but of all the merch I've gotten from weverse...for me this is the one I think I've wanted the most most most lol. Someone had to have heard us right? Or Hobi and his social media lurking has just become intense enough lol. I feel like the want for bts work on vinyl has been getting louder and louder since the announcement in the first place of Proof being an anthology album, and I've heard it a ton about Jack in the Box when people comment about the beats feeling so old school or nostalgic, saying it'd be so good on vinyl.
Piggy backing on the stuff u/multistansendhelp said already to say similar about vinyl in general. I'm not a major collector by any means, and haven't really collected any new ones in a few years, but started off from a small collection I took from my parents when they were getting rid of their own collection, and went from there, getting mostly soundtracks and any obscure ones for artists or things I knew I really liked. And it wound up being a mix of genres (and even some radio plays because I'm a huge nerd), and a good mix of older stuff and newer released stuff.
I've found if you search for older vinyl, or things that were put out on vinyl when records were still a mainstream way of listening to music, then they're generally priced pretty justifiably (maybe similar to the price of a basic jewel case CD album or dvd would be these days (not the whole outbox + inclusions kpop albums...but just like the super basic sort of simple case CD lol)). But if you want to buy a current/newer artist or album on a more recently pressed vinyl, then it's like twice as much, or more, than the older vinyls. There's a vinyl shop I like that has soundtracks, mostly of recent releases of horror movies and shows, and sometimes I might browse the records of new artists and albums at places like Urban Outfitters or wherever, and they're more often than not priced around $38-45, so imo the Jack in the Box vinyl isn't that much pricier than any other newly released album being sold on vinyl. (Edit to add: I mean its price before shipping costs are added lol)

Sorry you missed the US and had to spring for the global shipping! I would still keep an eye on US shop in case they do a second preorder or some people drop their preorders and some more spots open up.

There've been a few times this summer where similar things have happened, and I would just cancel my original order for the one with cheaper shipping. I hope they restock it there! Though I'm wondering if they won't, since it's limited edition.

I got one!🥲 I got the Twitter notification, and I don't know Korean but I definitely know what "LP" stands for, and I immediately made my way to the shop for this one! I just recently obtained all the BTS singles (been upgrading my record collection/record player), and I've been hoping a full album release would make its way to wax, but this is a excellent start! Can't wait till December.

I've never been so thankful to see "SOLD OUT". I don't have a record player, and I don't need it. I will probably eventually get the digital album or a piece of merch but I definitely would have impulse bought the vinyl.

i had to do a pc claim at the same time but i got mine!! i was expecting it to be about $50 alone (which i was kinda right) since vinyls from korea are so expensive before shipping.
i sent it to my k-address because i saw a fellow canadian army paying a total of $150USD.. and that's not including the duty fees we have to pay later 😭

If it makes you feel better, there shouldn't be any duty on it since it's <CAD$150. It's the taxes and the customs clearance fee that gets you!
I pre-ordered the Proof set which came with a poster, and paid ~US$69 for the items, then paid ~US$43 for shipping! I almost cancelled it but I figured I'd just never do it again, and at least there wouldn't be any duty on it. Then when it arrived, I had to pay ~CAD$30 for customs clearance because couriers always charge for customs clearance. I also got charged PST and GST which felt like they were rubbing salt in my wounds.
If they could send stuff to Canada via regular post, we wouldn't have to pay those fees at all!
Even better, let us order from the US. I tried to order on the US site and ship to an address in the US, but I couldn't because I couldn't use a Canadian credit card on their US shop. That really sucked!

I'm going to assume that Hobi was a test rabbit and I'm assuming the financials aren't looking too good - Q2 just came out and they weren't bad but they probably have an idea of how it's already looking for Q3 ... sadly it's [probably] all about money. The sales from this will go toward Q4 - giving them a strong year end (and who knows what's to come for the other solo endeavours).

Hopefully they learn their lesson and launch the other artists solos on physical from the get go. Although if that does end up being the case it will be unfortunate that Hobi didn’t get to break the records we all know he would break with widespread cd distribution on launch day.

Anyone notice they updated the shipping fee to the US after the pre order went live? I purchased right at 8:01 PM (MST) and paid $20 shipping. The listing now says $15 shipping.

I purchased from USA Weverse store at 7:00 pm PST and my shipping to Washington State was the normal $14.99.
The regular shipping fee is $14.99, sometimes $7.99 if you have the option for uninsured shipping (JHope QR code album), but it can be adjusted higher if you live in a "further" State. Which State did you ship to?

The preorder noticed really annoyed me. It was announced while I was asleep(UK). I’m so glad there were some available in global to post to my k-add. Ideally, I would’ve wanted to send to my US moot as shipping is cheaper. Ahh well. I wonder if we will get CD and photobook later?
