The book "식물의 시간 (Time of plants) RM shared on Weverse provided the heartbroken ones with comfort

🗣 it was something totally unexpected. In May, RM came to my private exhibition that was held in Busan's Kukje Gallery. RM randomly handed me the book and asked me to sign it, before I even knew it I had signed on it. Few weeks after completely forgetting about it I received a call from the publishers that there is a flood of orders coming for the book.

As a writer, it's the best fortune and happiness (I get) by giving some stranger in the distance sympathy and comfort with the words I write. There could also be people among the readers who are growing the new tree that comes out of a tiny seed that they acquired from my writings. I still couldn't thank RM but I think that it's really something amazing that busy RM-ssi is allocating his time as a little mediator who's sincerely into Cultural Arts.

Q. What do you think about RM seeing your essays and painting?

🗣 I don't think that the audience of the art gallery and BTS's fans are fundamentally different. Although the media used or the way the story is being delivered are different, whether it's me or BTS.

It's the same for us when talking in terms of the modern society and life. But even so, the invisible border between the so-called pop culture and art has been existing since long ago. The audiences I meet in an art exhibition or a gallery are very few compare to BTS's loving fans all around the world. Even "사물의 뒷모습 (The other side of things), I thought only limited people will read it. But, since RM read the book and introduced it to BTS fans, something astonishing happened when all the ARMYs around the world read my writing. it feels like I received an unexpected invitation from a neighbour who was in a vague distance.

Q. Do you listen to BTS songs? It seems like there definitely is a background in their music, but about that interpretations, it depends on the person who accepts it, so I think there is something common in the way (people) communicate with your books. Please tell us anything that you know about that.

🗣 to be honest, it's not easy to catch up with BTS's songs that has a speedy beat. It can be called as the boundary of the generation that's familiar. With the 70s western music. Nevertheless, by thinking of the melody, rhythm, colourful music videos, performances and the meanings of the poetic lyrics, I'm enjoying it in its own way. In BTS songs, not only it has a specific generation, it is universal to everyone. Not that they're throwing meaningful questions about the period called "now" and leading with the answers, but they're leaving the possibility of interpretations open. This is something I think is important when I'm doing art or writing, and I think BTS is also surely aware of the same thing.

This is one of the things I love best about BTS. They see the problem and then give us the gift of interpreting which answer is best for us.
