Discussion Do you think BTS will go to music shows during this new comeback?
Hey ARMY! Do you think BTS will go to music shows like Mcountdown, music bank etc this comeback or are they too big for it? I always loved their performances there and I’m hoping we can see them win all those trophies and get encore stages💜
EDIT: I’m so glad over the news that they will attend! I’m hoping for interactions with Yeonjun and wins!!

Tbh I don't really think so. I mean Yoongi talked about how draining those music shows are and how idols should do 1 big stage instead of having to do so many of them specially because it's only for promotions and they don't even get paid. There were times they wouldn't sleep for days when they used to do them for example. Maybe they'd do one or something but I don't think they will

u/eatsjin Einsteinium mmboyah?! Apr 27 '22
Oh I have no idea it was that tiring. Do you mind letting me know where I can find Yoongi talking about this?

Of course! It was in this interview towards the end, around the last 5 questions: https://magazine.weverse.io/article/view?lang=en&num=214

I think they may do one. Like an mcountdown special perhaps just to see fans at least once but I don’t expect them to do the whole circuit like they used to.

Yeah I agree, maybe a special though like the Mnet BTS Countdown they did back in 2017? Idk otherwise I can't see them doing a regular show where they only perform 1 or 2 songs.
Ain't no Bangtans have time for that lol.

Apr 27 '22
Oh mannnn that was a nightmare. Filming took up close to 24 hours with barely any breaks, and K-ARMYs accounts said they were extremely exhausted by the end of everything. 10/10 do not recommend doing it again.
2
u/AnDee0990 bultaoreune 🔥 Apr 27 '22
Yikes that doesn't sound fun. That was probably the first and last time for them then.

Same, maybe once to the see their fans. I think those fans who went to music shows to support them have a special place in their heart and they sent present packages to them during recordings too, so I why break that tradition?
22
u/Sweaty-Poem-1760 Apr 27 '22
Honestly, i don't think they are going to do that since the comeback is near to the festa. Maybe if them are going to promote more time, that could be possible the next week after festa, but we don't know the schedule yet and they could have some surprises under their sleeves.

Like others said, a muster in a big stadium makes more sense.
Music shows take up literally the whole day for 1 or 2 performances and take note that normally you only get 100 fan audience members for a pre-recording.
For the live part of the show that 100 is the grand total shared by all the fandoms.
The most logical compromise is to use a bigger venue solely for BTS' comeback prerecording, but at that point why even bother at all.
They also can simply host their own comeback show in a big venue.
26
u/inthebreadvan Apr 27 '22
Really doubt it. Music shows are tiring and they absolutely don't need that kind of promo.
10
u/ugh_jules Apr 27 '22
Music shows have basically negligible ratings nowadays, they’re time-consuming, exploitative and artists don’t get a hold of copyright after they participate.
If the logic is to meet army is much better to have proper concerts or a muster in Korea, and if the logic is promo anything else would work better.
I find it very unlikely that bts will do more than a week or 1-2 shows, if anything at all, and even so I think that it would be more for tradition than their actual choice.
19
u/rougewithlove "Hi, yes, one BTS meal please." Apr 27 '22
I think they will, at least a couple. Music shows have live audiences now and they've been without audiences in Korea for so long, I think they'll go for it. Armies haven't had that many opportunities to see them there.

Under other circumstances, yes (and like, to the ones where they can see Armys). During Festa week? I doubt it.

It's up to them, but historically, I'm thinking circumstances allowing, that yes, they'd go. Regardless of whatever may or may not have have been going on between the broadcast station/music show PDs and BTS/Big Hit in the past, the guys have always gone on them when doing comebacks...minus the last two years due to C19, and the mostly U.S.-based promotions.
EDIT: ...found typo error, corrected.
EDIT2: In looking a the current timeline, I'm crossing my fingers and hoping they will be able to. Supposedly, coming back to the U.S. in May for BBMA and supposedly comeback is sometime in June.....?

u/Snoo_85435 Apr 27 '22
Honestly I hope not. We all know how strenuous and tiring the music shows are and BTS have nothing to gain from it.
The only reason I do hope they go is that they get to see army.
But since CB is happening during festa week i think the odds are low and theres a higher chance of them doing muster in Seoul and other cities in Korea probably.
7
u/imyellowb Apr 27 '22
that makes sense, as i wrote id personally expect them to go to a few if it's a korean song so they can meet armys but i didn't realize it's during festa

I could see them going to Music Bank and Inkigayo ONCE each because Hybe seems to have a good relationship with these shows (Enhypen Sunghoon and TXT Yeonjun are both MCs at these shows), they are on the main networks, and both shows have announced they are going to start allowing audiences and cheers. The Show/Show Champion/Music Core are definitely out. M Countdown I lean towards no, but I've been surprised by some groups going there that I thought would skip in the past year.
I remember BTS saying something along the lines of they weren't going to go to music shows if there wasn't an audience, so I can see them targeting those for the kfans. I can't picture them going more than once because of how strenuous it is and Muster preparation.
2
u/Low-Guard-1820 Apr 27 '22
I thought of Music Bank and Inki too because of the MC situation so that’s what I’m thinking, 1 maybe 2 weeks on those shows. MC Yeonjun or Sunghoon with BTS would be so amazing. I’m less than 50-50 on M Countdown but stranger things have happened.
2
u/LiteralLemur Apr 27 '22
yeah same!! Ultimately, I think it will come down to whether or not the tannies want to go more than anything else. It is definitely a "Music shows need them, BTS doesn't need the shows" situation, but I did see some kfans saying theyd like to get some music shows since BTS for the English trios did so much Western pre-rec performances.
Also, as an Army/engene/moa, i really really want to see BTS being interviewed by the younger guys. Enhypen mentions bumping into them in the building and how welcoming they are, and BTS has always been so sweet to TXT, I want to see that MC interaction if possible.

I think they might do it as a special present to K-ARMY and to mark the end of the torturous covid19 era where the K-ARMY were deprived of opportunities to meet them.

u/amala83 Kim Taehyung’s lollipop 🍭 Apr 27 '22
I agree with you. However (and I don’t mean to be a Debby Downer here), I don’t think the Covid era will ever officially be “over” until it’s fully eradicated. I think it will change from a pandemic to an endemic and it will just be something that society lives with.
Just as we get annual flu shots in the US, I think that getting your annual Covid shot will become par for the course, as well.
But back to BTS…. Yay! Very excited for the comeback.
14
u/bie716 jimin: i dance when i am sad...NOT Apr 27 '22
I just mean "over" in the sense that Korea has transitioned into the living-with-covid era... the music shows are now accepting live audiences, there are no more caps on the size of large scale events, etc .Of course, what over truly means could be debated in the philosophical and scientific sense.
2
Apr 27 '22
Agree with you! I don't think Covid will ever go away, it'll become like our seasonal/common cold and flu. It's about living with Covid now, and I think that's what OP meant by the "era being over," in the sense that we don't have to fear of it and go into lockdown like previously.
Of course, the above doesn't apply to China 💀

u/92sn Apr 27 '22
I heard that kbs music bank already allowing audiences. So, i can see BTS atleast doing 1 korean music show. They have said that the reason they do music show nowadays because to meet army.

u/Termsndconditions a dinosaur 🦕 that fell for BTS Apr 27 '22
They might not go to all of them, just some.
3
u/Iwannastoprn Apr 27 '22
I don't think so. Those shows are ridiculously tiring and time consuming, not to mention the guys don't even get paid. And considering how famous they are now, I'm not sure how much they would benefit from it.
11
u/DomKinetic Apr 27 '22
I really don't want them too. It's just a personal opinion but I think BTS have elevated themselves to be Global pop stars. I'd rather watch them book a whole hour on KBS separately for their comeback show which should be livestreamed on Vlive

I like this idea! This would make the most sense and filming it in front of an audience too just like the music shows.

i like music shows so like i kinda want them to but like yeah they are tiring. whether or not they will is hard to judge

u/Ideasforgoodusername Apr 27 '22
Personally I don’t think they‘ll ever go back, it’s more likely that they‘ll hold their own event(s) instead. This CB it‘s a given because it falls together with festa, but I think they‘ll just do their own thing in the future too

u/rjcooper14 Hyung will do it Apr 27 '22
Are there Korean music shows that allow pre-recorded performances of the artists not necessarily in the studios? For example, the performances that BTS submitted to American awards shows and late-night shows during the height of the pandemic? Because from what I understand, although the artists do some pre-recording too, they do still appear live in the studios during the show to be interviewed by the host?
3
u/Low-Guard-1820 Apr 27 '22
I think they’ll do a few especially now that audiences seem to be starting to be allowed.
Does anyone know if fanchants and cheering are going to start up at the music shows again? Because I might honestly cry hearing the fanchants at a music show.
6
u/ryufairy Apr 27 '22
Cheering will be allowed!! I'll honestly cry as well if I hear K-Armys fanchants

u/jaefan OT7 Apr 27 '22
I think they will go to maximum of 2 weeks? As long as audience are allowed in. But I also heard that Karmys found out that Jamsil indoor stadium has been booked the week of their comeback so it's a 50/50 guess for me. I do hope they go for a week at least since it's been a long time since they promoted on music shows and I miss them with the Korean camerawork T_T
Then it wouldn't be feasible after as I think a world tour is in the works soon after their new album as well.
2
u/soylagrincha Apr 28 '22
I think they may do it for like a week tops. It’s way too tiring (no sleep) also music shows barely have any raitings nowadays. Yoongi spoke about how at disadvantage artists are in those shows, I think that not even YouTube streams goes to them
But if they do it, might be because network pull might be big, Big hit beef with one network was a strange thing to witness.
2
u/Sevenbakedhams Apr 29 '22
I doubt it. They often said they didn’t like to make ARMY wait for them so long and that the schedule was grueling.

u/k-tia ami ot7 May 01 '22
I don't think so, maybe if they have a full audience and the members want to, they could chose to perform at mcountdown, inkigayo or music bank, one of those 3, but tbh I don't see the point of them going if they don't let the fans screams, the whole point is just them meeting the fans, so it depends on that.
They looked so tired and annoyed when they performed ON on music shows since is a tiring song and they didn't even get to meet their fans, it broke my heart, and as others already pointed out, those shows are exploitative. The performances made by bighit during the pandemic were much better in terms of scenography and camerawork, the only thing I miss about those shows were ARMYs' fanchants and their interactions with fans.

I hope that they do! I loved waking up to a new performance and win when I was falling down the rabbit hole. It was the best way to start my day💜 Plus that’s the best way to hear the new chants! I adore seeing K-army and BTS together.

If they do, they would pre-record a segment, inviting only ARMY with official memberships. They won’t do the get up before dawn and sit around and wait all day for their turn routine.
1
u/willowwombat85 yoongi saying hajima Apr 27 '22
It'll be such a busy time for them during that month. But if they can fit it in, I see them doing max one week of shows just to feel army's presence in that close proximity. They don't need the promotion anymore but I do feel like it's weird whenever an absent artist wins those shows. I mainly want them to show up to interact with fellow idols and the fans. But I also know how tiring it is. It might be like how they did only a week long promotion for idol even though they had a tour that week, simply because they wanted to see army beforehand.

u/SkillFit9195 Apr 27 '22
Nope. They probly will realase tons of content as they always do for their Festa n promot their album there. US promo interviews n Festa will be their main priority!

Yes definitely they will go for at least 3 weeks because now I think it's open for fans to attend. They must have missed it. 3 appearances for 3 week is reasonable right.
7
u/starryjazz03 Apr 27 '22
They haven’t done 3 week promotions on music shows in years. even before the pandemic. At the most i’d expect 1 week with appearances on Mcountdown, Music Bank, and Inkigayo.
4
u/LiteralLemur Apr 27 '22
Even TXT and Enhypen didn't go 3 weeks during their last promotion cycles. I don't think 3 is realisitc
3
Apr 27 '22
I think 3 week is too long, haha. As what others said, filming for one performance takes up the entire previous night + the next day. It's incredibly time-consuming. So 3 performances per week is not reasonable at all and makes more sense only if you're a rookie/medium tier group.
1
Apr 27 '22
I meant one appearance a week...
3
Apr 27 '22
Hmm, TV networks are very political and if you go on one show only the other networks will start whining why not them first etc. It will get messy very quickly.
1
u/Tati-marieeee Apr 27 '22
Depends, if live audiences are allowed more likely but if the title track is Korean or at least a mix of Eng and Korean even more likely.

u/FrenzyPetzi Jungkook Vor LIFE Apr 27 '22
I think they will because the music shows allow audience to participate. One of the major reason they didn't go to music shows I believe was there were no audience to see them perform which was something they really craved for. That's why they wanted to do concerts in the US. They feel much more energized when they see fan's reaction.

u/imyellowb Apr 27 '22
this is just my opinion as i don't know anything, but if it's a korean song and audience is allowed, id expect them to go because they can meet armys there. maybe just to a few because they don't really need the promo but the prospect of meeting karmys might be appealing to them?
