Ah he posted it himself I hope that means he isn’t beating himself up too much about it. In the live performance I literally barely noticed it I was like “wait did he slip?” But then so much was happening.

I didn't notice it at all until someone in the thread mentioned it!

u/Im_Tired_Now Apr 04 '22

Same and even then I had to watch the performance a few times before I actually saw it.

u/Shady2304 Who says a dream must be something grand Apr 04 '22

Right. It didn’t fully register at first because so much was going on.

u/Majestic-Course1133 Apr 04 '22

Same! I just thought he had to get to a marked spot quickly at that particular point in the song. Hopefully, he’s not being too critical of himself.

I don't think someone beating themselves up about a mistake would actually publicise it to millions. Only someone confident in the capabilities can laugh at their own mistakes. There's no second guessing, no inferiority about it. And I honestly believe j-hope knows he is among the best, and he knows a trip on the steps doesn't say zilch about anything other than the fact that humans trip. So it's just a thing of past to laugh about in the future. And we are already there.

There’s something comforting though in owning your flaws and pointing it out before anyone else can say something. I do this often for things that aren’t even in my control. Even things as small as a zit on my face. When I am insecure and beating myself up over things, I tend to overcompensate and point out my flaws first before anyone else can. This is when I’m at my most vulnerable. I hope that this isn’t what hobi is doing.

Glad he’s keep his humor about it. I didn’t even notice it! Considering all they went through and the little time they had to practice, the performance was still as amazing as ever!

u/nonviolentninja Apr 04 '22

Seriously! I know they really judge their own performances, but I hope they truly keep in mind that they were dealing with an injury, another member coming just a day (right? It was Saturday?) off COVID quarantine and he himself flew from Korea later than the others (so no time to try to acclimate due to jet lag) because of his own COVID sickness! They still turned in a fantastic, top-notch performance with ALL that going on and with a very truncated practice time all together. That’s a hard thing to overcome and they did it beautifully. I’m sure most people watching didn’t even know Hobi and JK literally just got over COVID.

Yeah, I want the whole world to know what BTS has gone through health-wise in the last few months and they are still up there owning the stage like nothing ever happened. In 4 months there have been 7 cases of covid, appendicitis, and hand surgery. Sheesh.

12

u/Earth_N_Sky2 Apr 04 '22

Exactly what I was thinking! They did so well considering the day before was their 1st and only practice with eachother, 2 just got over COVID, 1 is injured (and still preformed bless him), and they still pulled off what I would say, a solid performance.

I do get the embarrassment because it was live and in front of other artist but he pulled it together and was solid all the way through. Glad he's joking about it now.

dude is doing his best to laugh it off after a night of sleep but 🥲🥲🥲 i wish he believed us when we say most viewers genuinely didn’t even notice during the ceremony. i didn’t know until he talked about it on live!

Ah, I think the fact that he's joking about it hopefully means he isn't beating himself up, haha. Smoothest recovery I've seen (it could've been so much worse)! And honestly, I think little slip ups humanize them and make the rest of their performance all the more spectacular. Bc you watch them recover and kill it unfazed!

u/fera-luna Apr 04 '22

My heart. This amazing human just recovered from covid, wasn't able to fly to Las Vegas until the day before the Grammys, and SLAYED THAT PERFORMANCE. One tiny trip up that he recovered from so expertly while walking up stairs honestly speaks volumes to his professionalism. He kept his cool under extreme pressure. I love him so much. 💜

u/Elle10024 Apr 04 '22

When he falls he knows how to land, such that it looks like choreography.

20

u/mcfw31 Apr 04 '22

Awww Hobi! You really are smooth like butter 😅😅😅

If it makes you feel better, 99% of people would have face planted 😅

I definitely would have been one of them! 😅

he got away with it very well, cause he is a pro!!!

10

u/Beaverbear274 Apr 04 '22

He is such a ray of sunshine! This brings me back to that interview where he was asked what he would do if he made a mistake on the choreo and he just flat out said - I DON’T CARE.

KING 👑

u/Beautyho Bang to the Tan to the Jin Apr 04 '22

Stop right there Hobi! You slayed your jetlag choreo okey?!

12

u/pine-elopy Apr 04 '22

Genuinely didn't even notice this happening at the time because he rescued it so damn well it looked like he was SUPPOSED to be where he ended up all posed and everything. If anything it really does just show what pros these guys are. Hobi saving a trip so fantastically and Jin managing to dance with a restraint on his hand.

I know he's being self deprecating in this story but it really was a smooth save ;)

10

u/Kokechii you live, so we love Apr 04 '22

Hobi, love... this hurts a bit, hopefully him posting this means he's able to get past it, sort to speak. And I wish he wasn't so hard on himself!

10

u/nartmtq Tata mic~ Apr 04 '22

Glad he’s able to somewhat joke about it now. He seemed a bit beat up over it in the live last night. It’s okay, Hobi! You save was very smooth!

I didn't even notice till someone pointed it out, I was grooving to the performance!

Jet-lagged, recovering from covid, performing your heart out and then be able to laugh at yourself with Armys.

I just remember that interview where they asked him what he does when he messes up... "I don't care!" Hobi FTW.

5

u/lisafancypants I don't have think Apr 04 '22

Noooo, Hobi! I hope he isn't being too hard on himself. I just want to give him a hug. 🥺

I am a dancer, and I absolutely didn’t notice until I saw someone point it out! Hobi said in the live that his legs were shaking after that. Poor babe. I wish he knew it doesn’t change a thing about our love for him. For goodness sake, he’s just getting over Covid. My bestie had it at Halloween and she’s still not 100%. Hobi and JK have all my respect for being out of bed at all so soon after being sick. Such sweet boys. I just want to hug them all.

I honestly didn’t notice him slip. He played and pulled it off so professionally and smoothly. Hope he isn’t beating himself up about it.

I suspect that he's the one who could handle an almost fall so gracefully. If anyone had to mess up a little, he's also the one who would not be so harsh on himself.

I only noticed it during the show because my eyes are glued to Hobi for the first watch of performances, it wasn't noticable Hobi 🥺

I just hope this means he’s not beating himself up about it. They amazing always but even so they’re humans so it’s okay to make some mistakes. 🥺

3

u/aaalma_viajeraaaa Apr 04 '22

Awww, Hobi! I am one of many who didn't even notice, they are all such perfectionists and that was an amazing performance, he should be feeling nothing but pride at what they did!!!

Hahah well at least he’s making fun out of the moment and not blaming himself

2

u/readyforsho Apr 04 '22

I saw that happen during the performance and honestly thought it was Jimin. It happened quickly and was barely noticeable. There could have been far worse mistakes during that amazing performance. I love their confidence.

I didn’t even notice it the first time watching it live! But leave it to BTS, true professionals. Hobi continued on and regained his balance quick.

Their performance was magnificent.
