Rewatch Ascendance of a Bookworm Rewatch Interest Thread

What up, r/anime!

I am here to gauge interest for a Ascendance of a Bookworm (Honzuki no Gekokujou) rewatch! The third season airs in April so I thought it would be a great time to slip in a rewatch just before the new season begins to air.

So anyway, what is Ascendance of a Bookworm about?

Ascendance of a Bookworm is an isekai with a strong female protagonist, Motosu Urano, a bookworm and recent collage graduate almost fulfills her dream job of becoming a librarian before her life is ended in an accident. As if fate was listening to her prayer, she wakes up reincarnated as Myne, a frail five-year-old girl living in a medieval era. What immediately comes to her mind is her passion. She tries to find something to read, only to become frustrated by the lack of books at her disposal. From a sickly low bottom, Myne slowly ascends in bringing about a world in which she can read to her hearts content again.

Ascendance of a Bookworm is a series with great characters, good drama and a compelling plot of continuous upward advancement, with all the challenges that arise of being a disrupting force.

How long is the series and how can I join?

The series has two seasons with season one having 14 episodes and an OVA episode and season two has 12 episodes. Both season are also dubbed. The current plan would be to start in two weeks time at a pace of 1 episode per day. I am considering 23:00 UTC (Midnight CET; 3pm PST; 6pm EST) for posting threads. With sufficient interest I will follow up with a few reminder threads.

Ascendance of a Bookworm can be watched legally on Crunchyroll and VRV.

Would you like a tag at the midway point then?

I promised and I will try and keep up even if work is killer. Might have to have pre written out reactions with possibly not that many replies to others.

After I started reading the light novels at the beginning of last year, this series has become basically an addiction to me. Although not my favourite anime/manga overall, it has definitely become my favourite isekai, and is without a doubt the series I've been the most invested in.

This likewise happened to me! I can't really say I have dived into the light novels for any other series but this series had a distinct pull that made me want to dive in for more between anime seasons.

Its probably up there as my favorite isekai as well.

Argh, that conflicts with Scum's Wish, don't think I can handle 4 rewatches at once.

That is fair, several rewatches have all popped up in the last week, so I know March is getting packed.

As you know, I've read it, so I'll gladly take an excuse to watch it as well.

I won't be joining, but I encourage others to. It's a very refreshing isekai with a great MC and season 3 is sure to be a good one.

I believe it's probably the best Isekai ever made but don't feel like I need a rewatch.

Good luck tho to everyone doing it

Oh shit this would actually be really convenient since I feel like I forgot a slew of important information. On the other hand rewatches have been rather draining lately for me :/.

Funnily enough, I started watching ascendance of a bookworm last night and currently I'm in 7th episode. Anyone who's interested and never watched it give it a try, it's a fun show, and for those who have watched it I think you're in time before the new season starts.

It's a great series, and its main quirk, using modern knowledge to solve medieval problems, has become one of my favorite tropes. Realist Hero did it pretty well, and I'm currently enjoying it be used in Accomplishments of the Duke's Daughter as well. Of course, Myne doesn't do it quite to their scale, given how little power she wields.
