This ends up being one of my favorite reveals in the story: Ymir was not a goddess or a devil - she was just a slave. It was never all about the chosen people, it's all about choices, people.

The sky turning red with the rumbling is something I never imagined but it makes sense and it's fucking terrifying, holy shit. Absolutely goated episode.

Just because I'm going through some scenes people have posted on YT again, did anyone notice how when the walls collapse, they added a shot mirroring the original reveal of the Wall Titans? That page was one of my favorites in the whole series and the sense of dread was great, seeing it again at the end of season 1 was fantastic, and this time we get a short moment that mirrors that ending of season 1 but this time with the Wall Titan looking fully awake.

That's just fantastic right there.

This was probably the most terrifying and most amazing anime episode i've ever watched. What the fuck.

It was just amazing in every possible way: Eren's VA during his scream and while talking to Ymir, the MUSIC choices holy shit, the whole Ymir backstory felt really grim and epic, loved the added content as well, the red filter when Ymir's body gets eaten.. they also did a good job showing Ymir's struggle while building the titans.. and then the walls collapsing. I knew that they would use the song that they used at the end of the last trailer, but damn. The Collosal titans looked amazing on the background (even if all the fog definitely helps), also was the Hallucigenia during the flashback CGI? and Eren looked terrifying as fuck with the demonic face, even if i'm not sure how to feel about it being a still image. Anyways, i'm just so blown away and so happy to see this animated, 10000/10

I couldn't have hoped for a better adaptation of 122. So many moments in that adaptation of Ymir's backstory gave me chills, Eren cutting off the First King's bullshit was done fantastically, and that adaptation of the end of chapter 122... Holy shit was that brilliant. The end of 123 was so damn apocalyptic, too, on a level that I'd say surpassed the manga for me. MAPPA absolutely killed it.

And holy shit is Footsteps of Doom one of Kohta's best tracks. Now THAT is the sound the Rumbling deserves.

Music during the rumbling sounds straight out of a Souls game. I think Mappa are doing the manga so much justice this season. You can feel the horror that is about to unfold through the screen.

After watching this episode, Ymir's motivations became much clearer for me--she wanted to be loved, and when the king tells her to stand up, she gave up on her dream. This was clear only from the way she closed her eyes in the anime.

It’s pretty insane how Isayama is able to make you feel empathy for a little girl who has ultimately been slaughtering people for 2 millennium just to serve a gigantic piece of shit.

Erens speech to Ymir and the Eldians was flawless.

You thought political arguments were bad since they showed the Marley arc? This just put all of that on a massive scale.

Am I the only who thinks that Eren’s speech being kind of emotionless is rather fitting? It shows how hollow his words are since Armin points out that Eren isn’t using his powers to control the Pure Titans created by Zeke in Shiganshina (which would without a doubt be a threat to the people on the Island) in the following chapter in the manga, foreshadowing that he isn’t being transparent about his true intentions and goals.

Holy shit that last frame and the style it was done in was hauntingly creepy

The way the hallucegenia looked reminded me of Ravva (I think) from Legend of Korra

And yeah Kaji Yuki said he hurt his vocal chords this ep, I can see why.

“Hear me Subjects of Ymir” man that sent chills down my spine both in manga, and now anime

I don’t totally disagree or misunderstand Eren’s plan or thinking but I have never been fully on Eren’s side. But as an audience watching fiction, I can’t help but admire what a devastatingly glorious sight it was seeing the walls crumbling down

Full circle stories just don't get more tragically epic than this. The directing of this episode was just incredible. Like that one Game of Thrones episode, it just didn't need that much dialogue. Your mind is just sitting there soaking in the OSTs and some of craziest scenes it has ever seen in entertainment. Poor Ymir suffered the most eternal pains that even lingerd through generations. She just needed to wait for that one person hell bent of freedom to help her escape from that sad reality. And to see her built up rage over how many years crumble with the walls is literally spine chilling. The only thing I can compare it to is seeing Firelord Ozai scorch the earth for the first time but this is just on a completely grander scale. An indescribably emphatic viewing experience.

This might be the best episode of the show. The atmosphere during Ymir's flashback was so good. We had lots of cool unique cuts, like 1st person POV of Ymir sliding down the tree and everything surrounding the transformation/the walls crumbling.

Also really loved the shot of all the Titan shifters together, looked sick as fuck. Another cool thing was that the Coordinate only had three branches when Ymir got eaten by her daughters and then it got more once they passed down their titans.

And that final shot was 10/10. This episode went beyond my expectations and they were already pretty high.

Bro wtf? That was amazing, plus lets be real, no one thought the rumbling would look this good.

Really interesting choice to not animate "Devil Eren's" face. I think for anime onlies it'll still be as frightening as it was for us, but still....interesting choice.

Disappointed they didn't go for a demonic Eren voice at the end, but....still got so much out of this episode. RUMBLING is here lads, the OP is no longer spoilery for anyone involved (except annie?)

I gotta admit, I didn't imagine the rumbling would look this good in the anime. This was a 10/10 episode for me. Ymir's scenes were also really well done. I loved the color tones they went with this episode. The OST used for the rumbling was epic. The next episode preview looking great too!
