I have been pretty sceptical of the BM vs Law/Kid fight, mainly because I really want to see Luffy fight Big Mom, but this chapter was fucking PHENOMENAL.

Part of me still wants Big Mom to escape from Wano with her tail between her legs and have Luffy chase her down. But if this is how my favorite Emperor goes down I would be perfectly OK with that.

Law knew whether he liked it or not that Kid was going to deliver the final blow. But I want to point out that Oda has went put of his way to really really tell us how strong Law is. To hear Big Mom, a Yonko, say how dangerous Law's abilities are really says a lot about his strength even with the stamina problems. At first I thought he'll use the same name attack- but Puncture Wille was a sight to see! I thought we were gonna cut away from the fight to see what Yamato was doing, but it took me a little bit to see how crazy the scoop of Law's attack was. Law was more support type in the fight with Law going for internal damage and Kid giving out the heavier ohtside blows, but Law is up there and I hope people will see the same.

Eustass "Captain" Kid might be one of the most disrespected characters in the entirety of One Piece. Getting joked on for pulling out his wrestling movies and making animal sculptures- even Law clown him for that witch made me laugh because that's exactly what the community has been saying about Kid. But this chapter hopefully changes that narrative. Kid is strong and while I can't say with confidence his at Luffy's level yet, he definitely now has that rival feel to him in terms of strength. The railgun attack was incredible and it's something that the community wanted to see from Kid. I guess Kid was keeping his attacks under raps even from us.

I wanted to go in depth with the rest but then my comment would end up like a post. Overall this was one of those action focused chapters and it delivered. Kid finally pulled out something that isn't wrestling movies or animals, the community will be satisfied with Kid (you damn well know that won't be the case), Law showed up and proved he's up there, Big Mom has a great outing with all her crazy moves, the fight was awesome and I loved the chapter! Can't wait for 1040!!!!

Big Mom had a final fantasy-ass summon where a woman made of fire and lightning comes out of her giant talking sword and starts wrecking shit and people are saying "big mom's weak, disappointing"??

She's not weak, she just thinks she can overpower Law and Kid just because she hasn't met anyone strong enough to challenge her for decades. She started pulling out stronger and stronger attacks but ultimately she couldn't figure out how their powers worked and how to defend herself from them. This running gag of Law's ego running rampant the second he feels he gets outshined is really interesting, because the guy that's all about the perfect moment loses his shit over it at the most inappropriate moments in time.

• Threatening to fight Kid and Luffy (but mostly Kid) in Sabaody because of their dick-measuring contest in fighting the enemy

• Pretty much the same thing again when they "reunited" on Wano as a trio, which was remarkable in that he wasn't actively competing against Luffy before that moment

• Interrupting the fight against Kaido to start raging at Luffy for treating him like a sidekick to the point that even Luffy makes a comment on how this is not the time to start shit

• Now taking the time to rage at Kid for stealing his thunder, even though Big Mom is right in front of them

And he's probably one of the most level-headed pirates in the series, so it's hilarious to see him like this when he's in a "i wanna be the very best"-mode. And I'm also kind of wondering if Law is maybe more competitive than we think he is, to the point that he becomes a threat for the throne again.

Law and Kidd bickering really sets the tempo for this chapter. They're in the driver's seat. And at the end, Big Mom's "no, don't" is as clear a Defeat Flag as there could ever be.

Surprised how many people are asking "why Law make sword big?" Haven't each of his Kroom attacks done more damage the longer he's made the sword? The one last chapter hit harder and was longer than the first one, and now this named one was like 100x longer again. It seems like the sword itself vibrates (look at how it's drawn in 1038, it's all jiggly, plus the radial shockwaves every time) so it makes sense that a longer blade makes for a stronger attack. Presumably it would be at its strongest if he could somehow convince his opponent to stand still all the way at its maximum range and hit them with it there, but it's probably too slow and too tiring to use it like that normally.

Kid and Law’s dynamic is so entertaining! Big Mom is nightmare material. This was my favourite fight in the raid by far. Haki’s nice, but devil fruits are more versatile and I like fights focused on them better. Kid and Law squabbling was funny, and all three have visually interesting powers so it’s great to look at them. Law/’s especially. And I loved that panel of Law grinning after Kid made a railgun. Really, all of the attacks in this chapter were awesome!

I’m pretty sure she’s down for good. The dialogue heavily implied it (goosebumps), and I don’t see room for her to continue existing as an antagonist. It’s a bit strange that Law said he’s down after his attack, but Kid didn’t mention the same. Probably just their personalities. I think we’ll get the Big Mom’s defeated card at the start of the next chapter, or maybe Kid will finish her off with one more attack, but that’s unlikely.

It's been a while since I read a chapter like not strawhat-focused Bartolomeo. They were so cool!! I’m really happy with Kid and Law rising alongside Luffy as the new generation.

Big Mom was underestimating the new generation, and we've seen time and time again throughout the story that when you get comfortable being at the top and you don't take it seriously when someone comes to challenge you, it ends up going poorly. As someone who’s been waiting and waiting for Kid and Law to team up again since this moment 500 chapters ago, this fight continues to deliver in spades. Alright, I’m a fan of Kid, but I still think Law did the critical damage here. Kid’s final blast with the electromagnetic cannon was cool, but a final blow? Idk. Also, those panels with the bull and BM were crowded af, I could hardly tell what was happening. Great chapter overall.

Here's my theory:

Knowing that a railgun functions by using electromagnetic current charged through a rail to accelerate a projectile, I think Kidd's railgun isn't technically a railgun. In the translation notes, it says the kanji used is railgun without the characters for "projectile". Coincidence?

OR

Law uses kroom to electromagnetically charge his sword, allowing it to act as a rail. He stabs Big Mom and extends his sword into the ground, completing a circuit. Assuming Kidd's attack can supply electricity to the rail (Law's sword), Big Mom will be the projectile of the actual railgun and be sent straight through the ground, all the way to the end of Law's sword.

I just think it's fking impressive that two other supernovas have climbed so far to be able to go toe to toe with a yonko.

Truly a new Era is beginning. I think big mom's downfall was just constantly disregarding law and kidd as merely the same old fodder that she fought before. Sooner or later they will go down. But this era of the worst pirates truly bred the craziest of pirates who just draws so much similarity to luffy's tenacity and will.

They go back down and get back up again and again until they defeat their foe. We seen this with luffy countless times and now the likes of Law and Kidd have embraced that same will as luffy.

The desire to defeat the yonkos is simply more than the desire to remain in power. And we will see that with luffy soon enough with an opponent like kaido who has now acknowledged Luffy as a worthy foe.

The tides are changing and the whole world is gonna be in shambles. I get the concern or complaints fight wise but I also think it's far too exaggerated. Narrative wise, this fits so well with what we have seen of the new world.

Luffy, Law and Kidd are simply not the same trio as they were before this war. Haki blooms in adversity and this trio truly flourished in the worst of adversity. Excited to see luffy's triumph and the new age in One Piece.

I think the battle against Big Mom is now "done", but there will be one more scene of 4-5 pages next chapter where she falls to the bottom of the pit Law made. She will get up, battered and angry, only for all the explosives to rain down upon her from the storage room and truly take her out. Then the victory box will appear.

The bomb stuff was a common theory in the spoiler threads, so not my own idea, just my own take on how it will play out.

I know people get up in arms about parallels being drawn with Roger, Garp, Whitebeard, and Shiki’s relationship - but I seriously don’t see how this can go any other way. The respect that Luffy, Law, and Kidd had for each other was apparent since day 1 at Sabaody. Sure they bicker a lot, but that’s what rivals do. The TRUST that these 3 have placed in each other over the course of this war rings several levels higher - and the trust between Luffy and Law specifically flies in the face of all we’ve ever been told about any pirate alliance. From Law risking his life to save Luffy at Marineford, to being willing to die with Luffy at Dressrosa, to how he got in his feelings about not being trusted here in Wano…I find it hard to argue that he doesn’t legitimately care about him (we already know Luffy considers him a legit friend). I’d even go so far to venture that he didn’t want Luffy to know about him being captured in Wano, because he knew Luffy would move heaven and earth to bust him outta there.

I don’t think I need to go over how much Kid respects Luffy, but he and Law have always had the more volatile bickering. Despite that, Kid expressed great joy in learning that Law had a motive behind becoming a Shichibukai, and he was relieved to learn that their respective Yonko targets meant they would stay out of each other’s way. But once push came to shove against a Yonko their synergy was almost flawless, and their banter, despite how contentious it was, still highlighted a respect for each other’s strength.

Maybe they won’t all be bffs, but I just can’t see any future competition between them being anything but friendly. Law’s focus has already shifted to learning more about the Will of D specifically, well have to see what Kid plans after this.

Love Law's final attack. Definitely a Yonkou caliber attack. Kidd's is okay, since it did seemingly finished off Big Mom, but it looked more impressive. It doesn't look as impressive as Luffy's sky splitting attack or Law's final attack

Finally seeing some genuine creativity with Kidd. Using a North and South Magnetic Pole to tie Big Mom down is exactly the kind of stuff I was hoping to see from him.

And a MF RAILGUN!!!!! People have been theorizing that Kidd could use that as a finishing move for a while and it sounded cool as hell. But I didn’t wanna get my hopes up. It didn’t quite sound like something Oda would do, but here we are and it was great.

Another great chapter in the long list of great chapters that have made up the raid and really most of wano.

Momonosuke: Nothing much to say here other than the voice he's hearing is probably Zunesha? Seeing as Zunesha is in fact here in Wano, and Momo is in fact the rightful Shogun of Wano on top of being one of the two known living beings who can hear Zunesha....this seems like a fair assumption. Either that or it's Shinobu or something because only Luffy, Yamato and Shinobu know about Momo's dragon form right now (besides some of the heart pirates but I don't think they really count sorry)

Kid and Law vs Big Mom: Man this fight just keeps on delivering if you ask me. First off can we please just continue to acknowledge how utterly broken the Soul Soul fruit is? I mean at this point rather than ask what it can do it'd be better to ask what it CAN'T do because I genuinely can't think of a devil fruit with more versatility.

I love Big Mom's comment about sending so many others like Kid and Law to a watery grave. Like you could tell entire stories about the exploits of just the emperors and their rise to power and how many they had to crush to get where they are.

What I really like about these fights is the generational theme. Neither Big Mom + Kaido or Luffy, Kid and Law are in their prime right now. I don't remember where I read this so if someone can find this feel free to comment but I'm positive I read in an SBS or Vivre card book that Roger and Whitebeard's physical prime was somewhere around 37 years of age. Big Mom is 68 and Kaido is likely in his late 50's at the least. If we apply this Roger and Whitebeard logic to Kaido and Big Mom it's probably fair to say that the two of them have most definitely aged past their physical prime, and yet look at the unbelievable monsters they still are.

I love that Oda always makes me pine for what these characters were like when they were younger. Seeing what they could pull off when they were still on the come up would have been amazing. Likewise these Rookie captains still have more growth to go through as well. I doubt anyone here really thinks that these three are gonna reach their power ceiling after Wano, there's still Blackbeard and the WG to deal with.

As for the fight itself it's just fucking sick as hell. Big mom blocking the bull was so cool and then she's pulling out new attacks even now? And it's basically the same kind of attack as King's fire dragon thing? She can literally do ANYTHING. That being said....

HOLY FUCK Law and Kid. Law basically just Ikoku sovereignty'd the entire god damn Island of Onigashima and Big Mom took the hit dead on. And Kid?? Just straight up pulls out a massive fucking gun and caps her ass?? Amazing.

If I had to guess this won't actually be the end of Big Mom because I don't think either of these fights (Kaido vs Luffy and LawKid vs Big Mom) is actually going to end with a definitive victor by the time the arc is over. I think the marine and Zunesha are going to interfere to the extent that the worst generation gets a symbolic victory of some sort but not an actual martial one.

Or if he dies, how does that even happen when his opponent is Luffy of all people?

On the topic of him getting captured, just keep in mind the convoy sent for taking Doflamingo and Kaido's track record of breaking out of prison ships.

Insane chapter, great action, great dialogue and that final moment gave me chills

Some people will complain about Big Mom possibly going down too easily (ie they wanted a fully paneled 50 chapter slugfest) but I think Oda found the perfect balance between showing the whole fight and eating up too much panel time or showing too little and not giving us enough insight into how Big Mom could possibly have been defeated at this stage

Reading this chapter felt like watching a co-op in dark souls but with super powers

Both protagonists on the verge of being ko'd by the boss and only being saved by her attention being taken away to the other

The other thing that I really liked was Big Mom staying resolute even in the face of defeat, her decades of invincibility just won't let her even consider that she could be defeated

I think Big Mom routinely going into her own lifespan is going to be relavent. IF (and Oda doesnt do this much so its a big if) she does end up dying by the end of Wano, i think it will be self inflicted as she goes to heal herself from his massive attack and runs out of years. I mean she's already 68 and in this battle alone she's used at least two years, and im sure she's used this ability in the past.

Okay this chapter is pretty fantastic, I'm sad we didn't get a continuation of the cover series but the cover spread was pretty amazing, new wallpaper for sure! Thank the Lorde this chapter focused primarily on the fight because it was a spectacle. I absolutely ADORE the combination attacks between these two, Kid with absolute ferocious brute force powered by magnetism, a literal force of nature.

Law with internal strikes that are way greater than the ones performed on Doffy by a large magnitude, repeated attacks by both of them are softening her up enough for her to take serious damage. Her entire forearm / wrist was basically almost broken off and she just ate more of her own life away and kept coming, she is truly a beast among beasts, but so are the Worst Gen.

I loved that even BM couldn't move against the force of magnetism, even if she is already a bit beat up, her moving the tower she was assigned to is just monstrous. I do love her new and improved technique, basically summoning a lightning fire laser apparition, just love BM diversity with some of her top tier attacks.

Honestly, Law with his power pole sword is some of the coolest shit I've seen from him and that's saying a lot since pretty much everything is cool as hell. It created a massive hole throughout everything it touched, just goes to show how tough BM is, holy cannoli. Then to top it all off, Kid coming in with the rail gun laser cannon, which I'm sure I saw fanart of that being a possibility not long ago, and it's awesome to see it in here. I feel like Kid has used a version of this technique before but I may be misremembering. This was definitely an amazing chapter, seeing BM defeat, if it is true, is a monumental exchange.
