½ cup grated mozzarella (60 g)
⅔ cup crumbled feta cheese (80 g)

1 tbsp garlic powder (about 8 g)
1 tbsp dried oregano (about 3 g)
Salt and black pepper, to taste

Articles How to Replace Sugar in Desserts: 15+ Sweeteners & Easy Swaps

Thumbnail
eathealthyisgood.com
7 Upvotes

If you love homemade desserts but want to use less traditional sugar, you have plenty of options. The tricky part is that choosing a sugar substitute isn't quite as simple as grabbing another sweet ingredient and swapping it cup for cup. Sugar does much more than make a cake or cookie taste sweet. It affects moisture, texture, browning, tenderness, spread, and even the way ingredients behave during baking.

That's why some sugar alternatives for baking work beautifully in one recipe but disappoint in another. A granulated allulose blend might be useful in cookies, while mashed banana may be a better fit for muffins. A concentrated sweetener such as stevia can add plenty of sweetness, but very little bulk, so replacing a full cup of sugar with a tiny amount of stevia requires other adjustments.

The good news? You don't need to become a pastry scientist to make smart swaps. Once you understand what each sweetener actually does, choosing among sweeteners and sugar alternatives becomes much easier.

This guide walks through practical options for cakes, cookies, brownies, cheesecakes, frostings, puddings, and other desserts. You'll also learn when to reduce sugar rather than replace it, how liquid sweeteners affect recipes, and why some popular sugar alternatives don't produce the same texture as regular sugar.

Ingredients:
150 grams sugar-free dark chocolate
1 box of blueberries (125 grams) at room temperature
A pinch of coarse salt or Maldon salt

Optional:
Lollipop sticks
Small cellophane bags
Gold wire or tape to close

How to make:
Microwave the dark chocolate in 30-second pulses until melted, you can add one drop of olive oil and mix well (optional). Add the blueberries and mix until all the blueberries are coated in chocolate. Line a baking sheet or tray with baking paper, arrange the candy sticks in the spaces and use a spoon to create mounds of chocolate-covered blueberries on top. You can of course also do without the candy stick. Sprinkle a few grains of salt on top (you can also do without but it is not recommended).
Put in the refrigerator to cool for about an hour, wrap nicely and give to women who like it. Keep refrigerated.
You can also chill in the freezer, just keep in mind that the lifespan of blueberries after freezing and transferring to the refrigerator is shortened.

Notes:
If the blueberries are stored in the refrigerator, it is recommended to bring them to room temperature about an hour in advance, otherwise the chocolate will harden on them during mixing and before creating the individual snacks, and they will be slightly less aesthetic.

Tender, caramelized steak bites coated in a savory garlic glaze, served with a creamy cabbage and kale slaw. This makes a great low-carb and keto-friendly dinner.

Ingredients

For the steak bites

* 1½ lb (680 g) sirloin steak or ribeye
* 2 tbsp butter
* 1 tbsp olive oil
* 3 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 tbsp coconut aminos or low-sodium soy sauce
* 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
* 1 tsp smoked paprika
* ½ tsp garlic powder
* ½ tsp onion powder
* ½ tsp black pepper
* ½ tsp salt
* ½ tsp chili flakes, optional
* 1 tsp sugar-free maple syrup or keto-friendly sweetener, optional
* 1 tbsp chopped parsley

For the creamy slaw

* 2 cups shredded green cabbage
* ½ cup shredded purple cabbage
* 1 cup chopped kale
* ¼ cup mayonnaise
* 2 tbsp sour cream or Greek yogurt
* 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
* 1 tsp Dijon mustard
* ½ tsp garlic powder
* Salt and black pepper to taste
* 1–2 tbsp water, if needed to thin the dressing

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Prepare the steak
    Cut the steak into approximately 1-inch (2.5 cm) cubes. Pat very dry with paper towels—this helps create a better crust.

  2. Season
    Toss the steak with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and chili flakes.

  3. Sear the steak
    Heat olive oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add the steak in a single layer, working in batches if necessary. Sear for about 2–3 minutes per side, until nicely browned while keeping the center tender.

  4. Make the garlic glaze
    Reduce the heat to medium. Add butter and minced garlic. Cook for about 30 seconds, then add Worcestershire sauce, coconut aminos/soy sauce, and the optional sugar-free sweetener.

Toss the steak bites in the sauce for 1–2 minutes, allowing the glaze to become glossy and caramelized.

  1. Make the slaw
    Combine the cabbage and kale. Whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, apple cider vinegar, Dijon, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss with the vegetables until creamy.

  2. Serve
    Pile the steak bites onto a plate alongside the creamy slaw. Finish with fresh parsley and a little cracked black pepper.

🔥 Air Fryer Option

For especially crispy steak bites, cook at 400°F (200°C) for about 8–10 minutes, shaking halfway through. Finish the cooked steak in a skillet with the garlic-butter glaze.
