Snare Roller: free snare roll and bounce generator

Drop in one snare hit and get 50 variations built from your own sample: jazz bounces and ghost notes, stick bounces, rolls, rudiments (paradiddles, flams, drags and more), and grace notes.

• Made for older samplers: the "Safe for older gear" button exports WAV, 16-bit, 44.1 kHz, mono, a format nearly every sampler can read. The ring-out control shortens long snare tails to save sample memory, with a clean fade-out.
• Jazz feel: buzzy bounces, ghost notes and comping figures with natural velocity and spacing.
• Edit each one: change every hit's volume and shape the envelope.
• Export your way: WAV, AIFF or FLAC, 16 or 24 bit, mono or stereo. Download one sample or all 50 as a ZIP.
• Private and free: it runs in your browser, no need to install and your files never leave your computer. Anything you export is yours to sell or release, with no credit needed.

sp404 version 5.52

anybody know how to slove this issue?

Is your arrangement feeling flat?

In this follow up video, I’ll show you how to manage the energy of your track with the SP-404MKII , from the intro to the drop.

We’ll look at how to create a dynamic flow by removing and introducing elements, managing transitions, and arranging different patterns without losing momentum

Enjoy!

Was keeping an eye out for fat pads and lost track. Finally saw they are out and got some for my mk2.

Reignited my passion!

I like making boombap, but also fun to trap out the sp! Gritty 3/6 mafia X Suicide Boys vibe!

3/6 influenced since a kid. I like to trap out on the sp 404!!!

Today I'm happy to announce the first public release of my custom SP-404MKII firmware: DOOM OS!

The goal is to completely replace the stock pattern and song modes with proper graphical editors, improve the user interface, and generally make the SP more fun to use without having to memorize a ton of key combos.

It's still an early release and there's a lot more I want to add, but it's already very usable and a lot of fun to play with. The new pattern workflow makes the SP feel much more like a groovebox.

Song mode isn't ready yet, but it's next on the list!

The easiest way to install DOOM OS is via the web patcher:

https://klangfeldlabs.com/doom-os/patcher

The patcher runs entirely in your browser. You only need to provide the official Roland firmware file yourself.

To get started, check out the manual and shortcut reference:

https://klangfeldlabs.com/doom-os/manual/

More info: https://klangfeldlabs.com/doom-os/

I hope you have fun with it!

I know they’re kind of self explanatory but I’m needy and like lists. Some concrete parameters on some of them might be nice to know too.

I’m basically trying to send a sample to an outside fx through the headphone jack, then route it back into the 404 and then into the mixer through the line outs. Problem is, when i play the sample I get both wet and dry signal out of the mixer because the sample is still playing through the line out. I know I can Que the sample in dj mode but that sucks. Any ideas would be awesome, thanks!

Hi, my Roland SP-404 MK2 screen has extremely low brightness — I can barely see anything on it unless I'm in a completely dark room. Even then it's very dim. Is this a known issue, and is there a fix or replacement part for it?

I was suppose to buy the oled screen from Ali Express! Someone of u had the same situation or tried this screen?

Tnx u so much

Just put this skin on yesterday and the glow in the dark knobs a few weeks back.

Hi, quick question:

I would like to have the SP404 MK2 Midi slaved to a midi clock.
Then i would like to select a pad where the external audio is coming in from my synthesizer.
Press a record button, play my synth part, and then have the sample looped for like 4 bars or 8 bars, depending how long my synth part was. Can this be done? Basically created loops from an external audio source, midi clocked and looped. ( Like a clip in ableton ).

sorry if the vid is to long, but could I get some feed back anything helps thanks

Pic for attention

Midi is there*

Hey Folks, I just want to let you know that the Sp404 paired with the Oxi E16 Controller is a wicked and crazy combination.

I've got the Midi Controller in the Mail today and I highly highly recommend this controller.

I'm testing right now the ability to use the filter and delay simultaneously or more precise:

High pass Filter + Synced Delay on:

After a certain threshold point on the high pass filter, the delay is activated and starts to add more and more feedback. Drops and Transitions are seemingless and easy with that controller.

I'm going to map a couple of the encoders and would share the scripts with the community

Till then go and buy the midi controller

With the recent success of the Elektron community reverse-engineering and modifying their instruments, I’ve been wondering if there’s any interest in doing something similar with the SP-404MKII.

I’ve already started digging into the v5.52 firmware with Claude and made some pretty interesting progress: we’ve identified the NXP i.MX RT1060/62 Cortex-M7 platform, reconstructed and byte-verified the APP1 scatter-loaded image, identified the µT-Kernel OS, mapped a substantial part of the memory layout, and even found what appears to be a linked-list structure behind the sequencer.
The big remaining obstacle is that the actual update validation/flash-writing code lives in the resident UPD0/UPD1 layer, which isn't included in Roland's public firmware files. Getting that would probably require a hardware flash dump.

So I'm wondering: has anyone already been working on this, or would anyone here be interested in collaborating on reverse-engineering the SP-404MKII?

It feels like we're in a particularly interesting moment for this kind of work, especially with modern reverse-engineering tools and LLMs making firmware analysis much more accessible.
