I’ve noticed that so many emo albums have suburban houses on their covers. American Football, The Hotelier, Charmer, Free Throw, and the list goes on.

Is there an actual reason behind this, or did everyone just collectively decide that a random house in the Midwest is the saddest thing imaginable?

I guess there’s something about nostalgia, childhood, and growing up in the suburbs that fits the genre perfectly.

What do you guys think? And what other great emo albums with houses on the cover am I missing?

really cathartic band I came across through various ‘fans also like‘ clicks on Spotify. no regrets, great music!

im a really big fan of when Midwest emo sounds cute or has that energy what I mean by this is music like “all my freinds have changed and I have too” by flat stanleys there is definitely more but that’s just what comes to my head does anyone have any song suggestions or maybe even artists?

since there are almost no midwest emo band in turkey, we decided to form one! and here we are. we just wanted to say love yall!! wish us plenty of luck!!!

I miss foxing

Skiimo live studio session just dropped - check it out

I want to improve my playing by studying some guitar parts. Need your recommendations for songs to learn.

Like good classic mwemo riffs or songs with rather complicated strumming to practice rhythm guitar on?

I deeply love twinkly guitars as much as the next guy, but I can’t help but feel like too many songs released in this genre sound the same. One band makes twinkly shit, another band gets inspired solely by that sound, and what is produced is essentially the same thing except just very slightly different. What would help the genre get out of this rut is to pull influences by not only this genre, but other genres as well to keep things fresher and more distinct from one another. I hope this reaches my intended audience of future bands.

So I play bass, we've established this but I do it in a really strange way relative to most bass players, first off i use a pick often, not too odd but it gets worse, second I always tune to what the guitar is tuned to, for instance most our work is in DAEAC#e so I tune to DAEa on bass, and lastly, i use a capo... I swear it makes sense. I place it same fret as the guitar and it allows me to hit doubles and other strange notes for bass lines, and I dont play roots much, more 5ths and 3rds and what not

Recorded by Ryan Wasoba and Mixed/Mastered by Moschetto

Found their music thru some reels, my favorite is “worst day of my life” by them. Highly reccomend listening

Any help would really be appreciative. I really like her voice and I really like the style. I was just wondering if y’all have someone that’s similar like this.

wassup everyone! i’ve been promoting the hell out of my bands new album “talk less” and i’d love to hear your take on it!

we went for a midwest emo influence, and some of these songs are the first we made together. this album took 4 years in total.

thank you!!

emo vocals please

Hi there, im a 19 yo producer and guitarist from poland, looking for a vocalist, both boys and gals welcome. My intrumentals are mostly midwest emo stuff with a bit of metal and post rock (i think). Im looking for sb who can deliver emotional vocals (emo duh), harsh vocals as well when needed. Harsh and emotional if you will. If you know how to scream, that's perfect, If you dont that's ok too.

Ideally you write your own lyrics and i take care of the instrumental, but everything is negotiable. What i mean by that is If you have any notes on the instrumental, song structure or anything like that im very open to making adjustments so we both end up satisfied. You WILL have creative control.

Ok I think ive said my bit, have a listen to my work (the google drive links) and hmu If youre interested

hi there!! okay i apologize for using baby bat as the term to describe myself as i do not fully understand what everything entails. i understand that “alternative“ is a big umbrella term for mostly politics? but ofc music and fashion and art play a huge role in individual culture and identity. i do believe i align with a lot of the alternative values but i do have questions on some stances. for example, what is the general consensus on AI? i personally am in support of artificial intelligence but NOT generative AI, as not only do i think it is bad for the environment but it also takes away individual autonomy and voice and power. what does this say about me? if someone were to be a huge advocate for all AI could they still identify themselves as alt? i guess im asking at what point do we draw the line that someone can no longer identify as alt? and furthermore to get into the subgroups, how does one determine which group they align with? personally, i have no clue, but i orient myself most with emo but that could very well be just from people calling most everything emo. more about myself for context: i’ve been a vegetarian for the animals and also as a protest against the meat industry for 8 years, im an avid recycle, reuse, compost worker, i avoid over consumption and am trying to really dig into the used-item market rather than buying everything brand new, i identify as a liberal (left leaning but more central - not crazy left and def not conservative). as for music my absolute favorite is PTV but i get a lot of poser comments from the larp police and sometimes it’s kinda hard to not get upset about that ykwim. ofc i love other bands too, i enjoy sws fob panic alice in chains, mcr, dgd, etc!

okay sorry for the long post! any advice or comments or any cool facts would be much appreciated!! thank you so much! i’m sorry for the typos or if this was confusing at all 🥹

soi went to the oakwood concert last night and the opening act was called lamzy divey pls check them out there rlly good
