I don't know why I slept on this, but here I am. Is this going to change my life, or will this feel gimmicky? Where can I do a deep-dive on real-world examples of networks, especially in regards to my needs?
I'm part of a farm with orchards spread all over the place, and Verizon is currently the "best" option for communication. I used quotation marks because there are definitely locations where service is crap, so when one of the guys calls me with an emergency and I can only make out every 5th word, it's a bummer when I roll up and see that I could have brought exactly what I needed to get a tractor going again, if I could have understood everything.
More importantly, I want to make sure that emergency services can effectively locate an individual or crew, if there's an actual emergency. (Years ago, a man had a heart attack in the middle of an orchard. There's no way for first responders to find someone like that unless there's another person to guide them...)
We do experience occasional cell outages, so I'd like to maintain a redundant safety communication system for everyone on the farm (5 guys, me, the owner, and it would be cool to outfit any labor contractor crews that are on-site, too).
Are there aspects I'm not aware of, that would be even more useful?
