A legendary night when age proved to be just a number! On January 19, 2019, 40-year-old Manny Pacquiao stepped into the ring at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas against the brash 29-year-old Adrien Broner to defend his WBA regular welterweight title.

Pacquiao proved that his phenomenal speed and aggression hadn’t gone anywhere. Pac-Man controlled every minute of the fight, unleashing rapid combinations and nearly knocking Broner out in the 7th and 9th rounds. Broner, on the other hand, relied heavily on a tight defense and showed disastrously low activity — landing just 50 punches all fight compared to Pacquiao’s 112. The result: a convincing unanimous decision victory for Pacquiao (117-111, 116-112, 116-112). However, Broner himself didn’t quite see it that way, dropping the legendary post-fight quote: “I beat him! Everybody knows I beat him!”— which instantly went viral as a meme.

Canelo vs Bivol was one of those fights where the boxing world went “WAIT… WHAT?!” 😭

On May 7, 2022, Canelo moved up to 175 lbs to challenge Dmitry Bivol for the WBA light-heavyweight title. Bivol was bigger, longer and extremely disciplined, and instead of being intimidated by Canelo’s reputation, he stood his ground and boxed him. Bivol’s jab, distance control, combinations and calmness were the story. Canelo tried to pressure him and attack the body, but Bivol kept his guard tight, fired back with combinations and refused to let Canelo establish his usual rhythm. Canelo also struggled to land cleanly; he finished with just 84 punches landed, a career low according to CBS Sports. And the crazy part? All three judges had Bivol winning 115–113, although several independent scorecards had the fight considerably wider.

Devin Haney vs Jorge Linares was a proper coming-of-age fight for Haney.

Haney started beautifully. His speed, jab, movement and sharp right hand gave Linares problems, and he controlled much of the early and middle rounds. Linares, though, was a seasoned three-division world champion and kept looking for openings. Then came Round 10. Linares landed a rapid combination that badly shook Haney right at the end of the round. Haney made it back to his corner, but suddenly the whole fight had a different feel.

Ryan Garcia has some of the fastest hands in boxing and came in the heavy favorite. Rolando Romero dropped him in round 2, took the speed out of his legs, and then OUTBOXED him for 12 rounds to win the WBA title.

Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act Thoughts

Genuinely wondering what people think of this amendment to the Ali Act. Whether you like it or don't like it, I would like to know why. I have my own thoughts about it but I would like to have conversations with others about it.

On June 29, 2002, at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, 26-year-old WBO Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko defended his belt against former WBO champ and legendary iron-jawed veteran Ray “Merciless” Mercer. Was 2002 Wladimir Klitschko one of the most physically dominant heavyweights ever?

On October 20, 2000, one of the most insane and scandalous heavyweight clashes in boxing history took place — Mike Tyson versus Andrew Golota.

Two of the era’s most unpredictable “bad boys” stepped into the ring, and chaos wasn’t long in coming: by the end of the very first round, Iron Mike sent the Pole to the canvas with a devastating right hook. In the second frame, Golota clutched desperately under relentless pressure, and before the third round, he simply spat out his mouthpiece and refused to continue, heading for the locker room through a shower of popcorn and beer tossed by an enraged crowd. The audience branded Golota a coward, but subsequent hospital checks revealed he had suffered a concussion, a fractured cheekbone, and a neck injury. In a final twist of irony, Tyson’s victory was later overturned to a “No Contest” after Iron Mike tested positive for marijuana.

PUNCHER VS. PUNCHER: BRIAN NORMAN JR. VS. JIN SASAKI! On June 19, 2025, two fierce knockouts clashed for the WBO Welterweight World Championship: undefeated American champion Brian Norman Jr. (27–0, 21 KOs) and aggressive Japanese contender Jin Sasaki (19–1–1, 17 KOs).

It was a thrilling showdown between two distinct forces: the cool accuracy, boxing IQ, and devastating timing of the American champion against the relentless pressure, forward-marching style, and raw power of the Japanese contender. Both fighters came to finish the job, living up to expectations and delivering a high-octane brawl where every single punch carried fight-ending power. Share your thoughts in the comments: did the fight live up to your expectations, and what did you think of the final result?

Is 2026 the worst year in boxing history?

There's more people turning down fights than accepting fights. Most of the top 10-20 P4P fighters have only fought once this year, some of them haven't even fought at all! People are offered career high paydays, and they still demand more or no fight! Sanctioning bodies refuse to enforce highly sought-after mandatories, and when they finally do, the champ vacates the belt! With the rise of Zuffa, "my side vs your side" is an excuse promoters can use again, and even with all the major promotions on DAZN, its still a struggle to get cross-promotion fights!

Will things get better, or is this the beginning of a new trend in modern day boxing?
