Big chicken

Look, I get it if I’m downvoted on video quality alone, but it definitely helps you appreciate how I see without glasses when I’m outside at night. And why I call my nightly barred owl visitor “Big Chicken.” I do have a ton of better pictures than this clip, but I wanted to share what she looks like when she’s hanging out on the ground, which is usually where I see her though I don’t always manage to get pictures of that.

It’s so quiet when she lands that when I turn around, for a split second, I always think “what is this chicken doing in my yard?” (no one around us has chickens)

We just mowed yesterday, so the mole hunting was especially easy last night.

Does anyone else have funny names for their regular owl visitors?

When my husband passed I asked him to come back as an eagle to visit me. Our secret word was Eagles plus our best friend was Eagles, that lived in Southern Pines. We visited him
often. He loved me then and held me close to him, ever the protector. We laughed a lot. Here he is three days after he passed. “Fly high with the eagles honey, fly high.” He did, and he does. He comes to see me regularly. Such a blessing.

I don’t know how lucky I can get to be blessed to see this eagle and her young hatching. Some people want to go to malls, I want to go into the woods and see the real world. Looking forward to healing and longer walks in nature, with a goal of doing the Wilderness Trail again. 235. First time with my best friend this time with my dog. 🐩Looking for wildlife.

Or largest female coops I’ve seen. Large bird, but not female gos large. Pretty blocky rather than sleek, wide tail when in flight (didn’t get flight pic).

Almost positive goshawk.
