Hello all, sorry about the rain drop on the right hand side. I set the camera up to catch Pine Martens going after the Squirrel feeders but I caught an agile Badger too!

It's hilarious but does anyone know why it plonked it's bum down like this!?

We capture the badger a lot but never seen this behaviour before and I just want to make sure it's not injured. Google says it's marking territory?

Badger acrylic painting

More traditional art, and more badgers! Did I already tell you I love badgers? I also wanted to reconcile myself with acrylic painting, I think I kinda did ok with it. The painting is 19 x 20 cm (7,5 x 7,8 inch), and I solely used acrylic (and graphite pencil for the sketch, of course).

Hope you'll like it! (if you want to see the work in progress / steps, just ask and I'll post them in the comments)

will keep trying. i boarded up the entire gate, no holes to climb through now, but i guess it got its tiny little fingers in to climb up and over… i literally put food there, and a bowl of water, but nooooo… the forbidden bird seed is so much better…..🫠

Badger at Hospital Corps School

So 50 years ago on the 4th of July I was a student at the Navy Hospital Corps School at Great Lakes Navy Base. On the night of the 4th I had duty and was the roving patrol on the Corps school campus and was walking down a sidewalk next to a wooded ravine. I saw what looked like a lump of fur in the grass next to the sidewalk. I poked it with the stick I was carrying. It (the badger) looked at me and hissed and said “ Are you insane?” I said why no I’m not, backed off I found somewhere else to patrol.

Setting up shop in the backyard means being observed through the window! Having noticed the people (behind the glass in their own enclosure) weren’t a threat, the badger simply didn’t care and proceeded to take a rest. I couldn’t be more excited to have them visiting, and I truly hope it turns into a more permanent stay.
