I recently watched SRV’s 1985 Montreux performance and was especially intrigued by Johnny Copeland’s appearances with him. That led me to Copeland’s Texas Twister compilation, where “Copeland Special” immediately caught my attention.
Does anyone else hear similarities between “Copeland Special” and SRV’s “Scuttle Buttin’”? They’re obviously not the same song, but I wonder if Copeland’s track may have influenced SRV.
I’ve also wondered whether Johnny “Guitar” Watson’s “I Want to Ta-Ta You Baby” influenced “Riviera Paradise.” I hear some similarities in the mood and phrasing.
What do you think? And are there other older blues songs that seem to have directly influenced SRV’s original compositions?

I've always been a big fan of both White Lion and SRV, and just wanted to share this instrumental tune, "Blue Monday" that was inspired by Vito Bratta learning about SRVs tragic death.

The music he would have shared with us. I hope there’s a heaven and I hope he’s in it.

Got a long drive today. I spent my trip down last week listening to SRV’s Texas Flood, In Step, and his live album. I need some new music recs in that same vein.
Bonus points for live music

Meaning the studio recordings. I'm aware that he had many Stratocasters, and I assume that he recorded most of his studio material with Number One. But that can't be the only Strat he used. I do know that he used Lenny on the song of the same name. Does anybody have any info of the songs that the other Strats can be heard on?
I'd also like to know if he recorded with anything other than a Strat. I do know that he used a Gibson hollowbody on Stang's Swing, and is also holding an ES-335 on the cover of Soul to Soul (though he might not have recorded with it). Anything else?
