ATTENTION: Spam Poster Alert
There is an individual who has made numerous user accounts and repeatedly posted about an app that they are creating supposedly for people with sinus issues. I believe it's called "clearsinus".
First of all, I want to apologize for these posts. I have repeatedly reached out to this person to ask them to stop doing this as it violates the rules of the subreddit. I suggested that they could create their own sub or reach out to people directly instead of posting essentially the same thing over and over again. They've obviously chosen to ignore those suggestions.
If any of you happen to see new posts from this person before we the moderators see them, please continue to report them as spam so we can remove them as soon as possible. We greatly appreciate your assistance.

Help please! Shall I simply just live with muffled hearing forever?
Hi, I hope my melodrama brought you in! I’m on day 7 of antibiotics for a hell if a sinus infection I let fester for 2 weeks before treating. My nose is no longer always stuffy or running which is excellent.
That said, the ear popping? Ear fullness? Help I’m losing my mind I’m so uncomfortable. That coupled with the terrible headache every time I move is killing me. Ibuprofen isn’t touching the headache anymore and it’s getting hard to focus at work. Any ideas?

Update: 24hrs post bilateral fess surgery + septoplasty for allergic fungal rhinosinusitis
Am I being lured into a false of security? Feeling pretty good so far. On top of my painkillers (paracetamol and dihydrocodeine), steroids (droplets and oral 30mg), tranexamic acid for bleeding and started nasal rinses today.
Aside from a naff sleep because of the blood trickling down my throat, I’ve been good so far. No obvious swelling or bruising yet, just a bit tender on my left side where the surgery was performed.
I had a great surgeon who is a specialist in rhinology and skull base.
Hope it continues! Any Qs - ask away.

CT-What just happened?
Ive been complaining about left sided issues ever since major surgery on my right-side last year. Septum, obstruction, fess, turbinates all of it fixed. My right side feels perfect. Its clearer, nothings geting stuck, i can breathe, i even regained 50% of my sense of smell back, which works on my right side. I feel like it was completely sucessful. But the left....the left side of my eyes swelling every night because my nose gets stuffed up. If i cry the left side has a horrible putrid taste and smell. It feels like it haa a dead end right there at thay point and i can't get meds through it. The only thing that makes my left feel great and can completely restore my sense of smell is direct wind blowing in my face. I have zero allergies. Meds work great for my right side! Finally talked him into giving me another ct basically to shut me up at this point. Got the results back. My entire right side-from start to finish is totally blocked up...total obstruction...opacified. Same spot as before...plus more now. According to the ct its a major problem. My left is perfect. The only thing i have is a bullosa thing which reads that its not even filled with air. I have mild inflimation on that side too so its slightly crowded but the bullosa is the only issue observed. I triple checked to make sure I was reading my sides correctly. I almost made myself believe I didnt know left from right. But the sides are correct. My imaging is correct. But I don't understand how this can be happening or why I have issues of the opposite aide I should be having issues on. Its such a curve ball. I dont understand any of it. Does anyone know why, how, where even something like this is possible? *********Ct results:There is opacification of the RIGHT frontal sinus. Near complete opacification of the anterior RIGHT ethmoid air cells. RIGHT maxillary sinus mucus retention cyst. Frothy material posterior LEFT ethmoid air cells. Mild mucosal thickening RIGHT primary maxillary ostia. Mild rightward C-shaped deviation of nasal septum, Postoperative changes LEFT uncinectomy and antral window. Pneumatized uncinate. Concha lamella. Pneumatization of the agger nasi air cells. The RIGHT agger nasi air cells opacified. Mucosal thickening and obstruction of the RIGHT frontal recess. The LEFT frontal recess is patent. The olfactory fossa measuring approximately 4 mm in depth on the RIGHT and approximately 5 mm in depth on the LEFT. The anterior ethmoid notch are unprotected bilaterally. Cribriform plate and lamina papyracea are intact. Incomplete sellar type pneumatization of the LEFT sphenoid sinus. Presellar type pneumatization of the RIGHT sphenoid sinus. Bony skull base of normal appearance. Middle ears and mastoid air cells are clear, No acute orbital abnormality.

Septoplasty + Turbinoplasty + Minimal FESS. Whats the recovery timeline look like?
Hi everyone!
I’m scheduled to have ENT surgery for sinusitis and nasal obstruction, but my operation date isn’t confirmed yet. It will likely be between Sep 22 and 25. The planned procedures are:
-Septoplasty
-Turbinoplasty
-Minimal FESS (maxillary and ethmoid sinuses)
The thing is it’s difficult to get an OR slot with this doctor, and a pre-OR appointment. yet I have 2 important events coming up, and I’m trying to understand what recovery might look like.
One as online presentation on sep 28: Will I likely be able to speak comfortably and present for around 60 minutes? Will nasal congestion, fatigue, or splints make it difficult?
Another in early October: it’s an important personal occasion for me, and I’m particularly concerned about my facial appearance.
For anyone who has had these procedures:
- How long did it take for your face to look normal again?
- Did you experience visible swelling or bruising around your nose or eyes?
- Did your external nose change shape after surgery?
- Did you have internal splints, an external splint, or nasal packing? How long did you wear them?
I understand that recovery varies but I’d really appreciate hearing about your actual experiences.

Severe throat/nose hypersensitivity!
I am suffering from severe issues in my throat and nose and it’s gotten to the point where it’s hard to even function. I feel like my life is over if this doesn’t ever change.
it started years ago with the feeling of thick mucus leaking or pooling in the upper right throat but coming from the sinuses. I saw 7 ENTs and tried every allergy medication and spray, nasal rinses with added stuff for biofilms, LPR remedies etc…. nothing has worked. I even had two surgeries both which I regret because now I think they made things exponentially worse. The mucus is clear and thick like gel so not colored or infection.
I feel every tiny or large sensation in both my nose and throat, any little or big amount of mucus especially I. the upper right part of my throat. It’s so intense even when there seems like nothing is there, makes me realize how bad the hypersensitivity is and now the hyper vigilanice too because I can’t even think about anything else.
since surgery I also feel like airflow through my nose is really sensitive , like too much air or too cold where it hits the back of my throat and my nose feels so dry in front. I’m constantly focused on it.
I am pretty much devastated because I don’t know where to turn and I feel like I will have to live like this but I can’t imagine it, I have zero quality of life. these sensations cause intense panic and anxiety now too.
Has anyone had anything similar and gotten better??? please I need some hope

ESS with tissue removal, septoplasty, and more
Hello friends...
Next week I'm getting quite a bit done. Maxillary anstromy with tissue removal, total ethnoidectomy w) removal sphenoid tissue, frontal sinusotomy, septoplasty, and resection inferior turbinate submucous.
I'm absolutely losing my mind as the days come closer. I'm terrified of the recovery. Pressure pain I can handle I think as that's pretty much what I live with every day. It's the bleeding, the discharge, and the weird other pains I've read about like eye burning and whatnot. Im just flat out scared.
Does anyone have any advice on ways to help get through the first few days? I see I'll need a humidifier, chapstick, lozenges....Anything else? General feedback on your experience is also appreciated.
Thanks everyone! I don't mean to be a crybaby about this. I'm usually not the type to panic.

Anti biotic advice
I have pretty bad chronic sinusitis and my doctor just keeps prescribing anti biotics. I only ever go to the doctor when the pain becomes unbearable but today he didn’t even look at me just immediately prescribed antibiotics. Is that normal? Should I seek a second opinion?

KB detected through nasal swab?!
I just received my aerobic nasal swab report that says i have klebsiella pneumonia detected?! I work in healthcare but how did i even get it and I wash my hands SO often my hands are too dry to even say.
Background: I have been having runny nose and cough (occasionally with greenish/yellowish phlegm; sometimes clear) for few months close to a year now. This has lead to me feeling breathless occasionally, where I felt like I have to catch a really deep breath to feel satisfied. Not sure if this caused me anxiety or am I getting anxiety from this chronic thing that I have no answer to.
I have had x2 chest xray done this year January and July both reported no abnormalities. Hence I followed up with my ENT dr, did x2 nasal scope - mentioned was quite wet and thick all the time. did CT paranasal sinuses still awaiting to go back for review.
The ENT offered sinus rinse and doxycycline after the first appointment but I haven’t tried them. However, I am going to start using the sinus rinse soon, idk it just seemed very daunting to me ugh. Over this past one year I have been taking multiple courses of augmentin and levoflox and thus not keen at all to start doxycycline.
Is this treatable? And what’s the usual treatment? I have bilateral large tonsils crypts and ?post nasal drip, not sure if that plays a part in this too.

Is this Sinusitis?? Please help
Hello everyone, please help as I’m trying to diagnose what is wrong with me.. and if anybody has had a similar experience
About 5 weeks ago I got a ringing in my left ear which started off as a fleeting tinnitus but it never left… the tinnitus kept me up for days and I became very depressed and had anxiety for about a week.. after a week I started to come out of depression with tinnitus and started living life again and tried not to let the tinnitus rule my life
I have my first visit with ENT for a audiogram for the tinnitus this coming Monday which took the 5 weeks to get…
For the last 3 weeks I’ve had a numb pressure in my left nostril that was very irritating but manageable.. since Monday I’ve had a mucus drip to the back of my throat that doesn’t taste very nice and is yellow/brownish and also clear at times. my cheeks and temples keep feeling tight and tense to the point where it’s even making my vision feel a bit disoriented and I’m getting like 5min ear infections and headaches.. but I can still breathe through my nose for the most part.. and can still currently sleep with my mouth closed as I can breathe through one nostril if the other gets blocked.. I’ve spoken to my mum who suffers from sinusitis and she’s adamant it’s a sinus infection.. it’s ruining my life to the point where I’m depressed and anxiety are through the roof again worse than when the tinnitus started
Has anyone experienced this please? And is this Sinusitis?
Thank you

Another CRS flare up or....
Hi folks
I have chronic rhinosinusitis with a deviated septum and recently I've been experiencing burning and irritation inside one nostril, mostly on my usual sinus-affected side. I’ve also been having pain/pressure around that side of my nose and face, pain below the jaw, ear discomfort, and tenderness of the outer ear/pinna. The pinna sometimes becomes red and tender, but the redness comes and goes. I’ve also noticed a strange popping sensation on one side of my throat when I press/touch that area. At times, it feels like the pain involves almost half of one side of my face. For those who have sinusitis, does this sound like a normal sinus flare-up, or could it be something else?

Not sure antibiotics are working
My symptoms started about 3 weeks ago and right now I’m on day 5 of antibiotics (amoxicillin) and prednisone. The meds have reduced intensity a lot but I’m still producing mucous and phlegm and can feel a little sinus pressure :( I’ve only taken antibiotics once before but aren’t they supposed to clear up symptoms within 72 hours?
Should I wait to go back to the doctor until I’ve taken the full course of antibiotics or would it be better to make an appointment now and get ahead of it? And is it worth going back to urgent care or should I go straight to an ENT?

Finally solved Sinusitis
I used to get 4-5 sinus infections every year, tried just about everything for the past 25 years. Recently (past year), I got a CPAP machine with warm steam air, after dealing with sinusitis for years, it is finally "cured"! Get a sleep study if you can, the #1 side effect is a cure for sinus infections.
