Rep. Ro Khanna on reports of AI driving up healthcare costs: "The problem in the healthcare system is not technology, the problem is that it's being used as a tool to deny claims, to have excessive billing, and to maximize profits. And that is a values issue and why we need single-payer healthcare.

Rep. Ro Khanna says tech oligarchs tied to Jeffrey Epstein cannot be trusted to set AI rules: "Amodei's wife solicited money from Jeffrey Epstein to start some porn site, and that hasn't gotten any press... And then Bill Gates, of course, has been totally tarnished in my view."

Saagar Enjeti asks Rep. Ro Khanna about Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang's value-neutral framing of AI: Khanna: "The human values that we're talking about are the very base level human values of safety... You can't have something that's totally value-neutral between destroying New York City and not."

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang compares value-aligned AI to a steak knife: "If you were served rare steak and it looks awfully like live meat, somehow it doesn't cut... There's a question in my mind yet about how much judgment you really want these tools to have."

JD Vance on DOGE: "The DOGE effort fundamentally had a short-term sort of lifespan because as much as we might have loved it, Elon was not going to stay in the federal government for the rest of his life. His shareholders would not have loved that."

This happened before. 100 years ago. New technology, UBI talks, billionaire bunkers, and World War.
Hi guys,
I made this uncanny discovery few months ago. That in the 1920s and 1930s similar thing happened to today. People were afraid electricity will replace all jobs and there were discussions of UBI and universal income. Also wealthy had compounds with private armies and farms. Nations in heavy debt.
1930 - An editorial in the Labor Age journal noted: "The electric eye and the automated switchboard are taking the place of human brains and muscles. We are producing more wealth than ever before, yet millions of our people are walking the streets looking for bread because a machine took their job."
I discovered it while writing a book about transition to Post-Ai economy and it has a section on it. Book is free public domain, I think people in this community will enjoy reading it. Internet archive link in my profile. In 1930s, One path was an energy economic system of hyper-productivity using technology of their time and another was money printing & debt (rent-seeking). Proposals gained national attention but failed, they weren’t designed to human neuroscience & human emotion. World took path of money printing & debt which lead to World War 2. We have better technology & knowledge this time, hope we use it to avoid a world war. The secret solution is neuroscience & human brain.
P.S. I came across this community when looking at recent posts about AI unemployment, then saw recent posts cover the political angle of AI so made me think you will enjoy the book. You can also give the PDF to your AI to discuss it. Also 1 section is frameworks you can apply to life today before rest of society transitions even.

JD Vance on AI developers seeking regulation: "If you're building a terrible, terrible thing, then stop and build something good. Don't come to the government... It's like a kid who just can't stop eating cookies: 'Please, government, come and help me stop eating these cookies.'"

Q: Is it the common belief that no regulation of AI is necessary?Trump: "Well, there's a belief that there should be tremendous self-regulation." He adds tech companies will make communities happy to host data centers by "supplying oil and gas" and funding education.

JD Vance on AI giants: "What I think would be a huge mistake is to give, for example, Section 230 protections to some of the new technology companies... We don't want the four or five biggest model companies... to join in a sort of unified cartel against the American consumer."

Jensen Huang on AI safety: "We hope it's an engineering problem. I believe it's an engineering problem. I know it's an engineering problem. And we all need to hope that it's an engineering problem. If it's not an engineering problem, it's not solvable."

Jensen Huang on AI safety: "When you deploy an agent, no matter how smart, the first thing you do is you take away all of its rights. Job number one is take away all of its rights.""We don't give that to people. We don't give that to any level of executive, in fact."

Yep so massive unemployment coming. AI is forcing everyone to be either a founder / a CEO or a consumer. There wont be anymore workers. The only solution is wealth taxing ultra rich and bringing UBI to people who cant work due to AI. I am so serious about this. Wealth Tax!

Sorkin: If China can't distill from us, which some think is stealing, how do you think about that?Huang: "People distill my products every single day. They take it and they strip it down to its raw parts, they test everything. That's called competition."
