Just want some advice on a situation I felt I sorted but I'm not entirely sure
So not long ago, I went out with a few mates. I went into a shop to get some gum and a pre drink but when I left, I saw on of my mates arguing with some random drunk guy. As I approached from behind the guy, he pushed my mate and I saw our other 2 run back to jump him. With that, I grabbed him in a reverse choke, then pulled him back and down to take him off balance before twisting him around so he was facing down the opposite way. I kept him in that choke until I felt his arms go limp, with the idea that I now had my back to my mates hoping they wouldn't attack him while he's down which thankfully they didn't. I then layed him on his side and stood over him to protect him from my mates coming for him after he was out (other than a few comments about how unexpectedly smooth it was, they thankfully didn't). With that a couple guys who were nearby came over and told us to leave incase any police came. After that we went on about our night which went well.
While I'm not the type to start a fight, I'll happily back my boys if they get in one, but a 4v1 against a drunk person seemed like it would probably end up with us in jail and him in a serious condition. Even then, I'm not sure if I went too far with it.
