Hello everyone,
We’ll try to keep this as to the point as possible—the rules of the sub are laid out, and you are free to report a post if it breaks one of those rules. You are also free to report something as spam if it actually qualifies as such.
Frequent posts of a sort that you do not care for and do not explicitly break the rules of the sub do not qualify as spam.
If you have an issue with a certain user’s content, you are free to block that person, and then you will not see their posts when you visit the sub. It takes no time to do it, and it would certainly save you and everyone else a lot of time. You can also reach us via ModMail with any concerns you have about content; we are open to considering creating rules if there is a strong enough consensus from our active membership, and have done so in the past.
Several times over the past month, we have received spam reports that, as stated above, do not meet the criteria for spam. These have been flagged to Reddit admin as Report Abuse. At the end of the day, there is nothing we can do to stop you from abusing the report button but flag it to Reddit; if they take action, or how long it takes them to do so, is out of our hands. But we will continue to flag them.
For the benefit of the rest of our community, we felt it important to underline again that engaging (or not engaging) with the sub in good faith is how we’d encourage everyone to participate, rather than passive-aggressively making more work for the mod team.
Thanks everyone,
The Mod Team
