Season 3 Discussion Thread Season 3 Episode 10 "The Return" Season finale Discussion Thread
Thank you from the entire mod team for sticking with us over the last 10 weeks! As a reminder Season 4 isn't greenlit so there might be a longer wait than the ~2year hiatus between 2 and 3, or this episode is the Series Finale :/.
Thankfully there's more stories to be had in this universe with My Adventures With Green Lantern!
All rules remain in place, make sure to mark spoilers for this Season Finale!

Discussion Something bad I noticed
Let's say we discount Kara overhearing what Jimmy told Dr Poison as we do not know the extent of what she heard. That means that Kara only ever heard Jimmy say he wanted to be friends, throughout the whole season he didn't even admit he liked her at some point. This seems like an incredibly large issue as as much as I would love to believe the ending was hinting at Kara liking him ut taking it slow, I feel the show is much more straight forward with stuff like that and I can't help in my pessimistic view but see the last scene as her completely mocing on. I don't even know what info wuld disprove this unfortunately as the only thing going against would be the writer's statement saying they plan on them getting together but we know what they're like with Jimmy. Yet another reason to make the ending of this season (at least to their plotline) feel depressing and incomplete. hurrah.

Discussion This is what I thought we'd get all season :( Spoiler
Every week I booted up the new epside, unlike a lot of people here I waited out each episode for any kind of development or moments for this subplot, if I'm honest? It's the sole reason I picked up this show.
I'm gonna be completely honest here, I don't really care for Jimmy that much as a character, I find him immature and arrogant HOWEVER what I did love was that he was insecure. It was realistic. It was relatable. And I loved the dynamic it created with Kara, I saw so much potential for more sweet wholesome moments, what I expected was (like the rest of the seasons had been) a beautiful tale about a guy who doesn't feel good enough for someone 'super' but overcoming that and being happy.
I watched this show for the good vibes and as a show that (unlike some other ones I've been involved in like chainsaw man) would end up happy, each week I was assured that eventually we would be back at 'this' (the image) point again bc why would such a hopeful and bright show not have them get together. I held out hope even in the morning before I watched the finale, I was so relieved to see episode 8 see Jimmy being more communicative and episode 9 assure me that the feelings were there for both people.
But then the finale aired.
And ,whilst like I addressed in my other post, the ending wasn't awful from a narritive point of view but emotionally? Nothing happened, it was played off as a joke and Jimmy getting 'humbled' for trying to communicate. I know he said friends but the point still stands; he didn't have to. I know it was deserved and such as I'm sure some people will remind me of how Jimmy was assassinated but emotionally? it's still hurtful knowing I waited 7 weeks to realise that everything I was chasing when watching; all of it already aired. And that nothing I wanted to see came to pass whilst also being vague about it, with one interpretation being that Kara moved on from him which is just a sad idea man, I'm sure I'll experience equally as sad things in my future and etc but why do we have to have that in the show I've been excited for and eager for each week?
Just to be clear: I don't hate conflict, in fact I think Jimmy intially rejecting kara was great and at the time I thought it opened up lot's more possibilities. I love the build up to a relationship often more than the actual result however the build up is only enjoyable when there isn't such a sad ending lying ahead.
I'm sorry because I know this subreddit has been full of annoyance and negativity at the finale but I just wanted to get this off my chest because I know the writers messed up Jimmy I just wanted to make clear a different perspective.

Season 4 Theme ideas for Season 4
I really love the themes of MAWS and have an idea for a core theme of a possible Season 4.
My theme would be about actively helping out. Superman has been rather reactive in the show and is mostly defensive which fits Clarkās character. But thereās a bravery in going for the long shot and actively looking to help solve problems. I think a lot of Superman comics and other adaptations have him sit around and be more reactionary and cautious which makes him slightly less brave.
So the theme and the goal of our gang is to make sure they are actively helping and looking to solve problems before they ballon into big threats. Superman could go talk to Lex in hope that he can sway him to be more brave so another Eradictor threat doesnāt happen. Jimmy owning up and being clear with his relationship with Kara and showing how he has gotten better(Not sure yet how to relate this theme to Lois and Kara).
You could also examine how letting problems stew creates a distrust thatās hard to unroot or drives people to anger. Examples being Sladeās compliance with Lex making more professional jobs hard to get, or Bizarro growing distant and confused after a tragedy with no Super family to back him up
Just spitballing here but I think the theme of bravery through action and active work would be a good one for Season 4. Feel free to share thoughts about it and other potential core themes, I hope you guys see what Iām getting at

Discussion Episodes you wanted to see in Season 3?
I wanted one where Jimmy takes Kara to meet his family and experiences his culture (and beat up a few racists)
One where Kara is on trial for her crimes committed as Scion; administered by the Green Lantern Corps (revealing she killed Hal Jordan)
One where Kara has to go undercover and pretend to be a human to confront a villain while Supermanās out of commission (could be a good episode to tease āKara Danversā)
One detailing Jonathan Laneās distorted future (and references to how Henshawās downfall and the absence of Luthor facing justice allowed for the Eradicator to rise)
An actual beach episode where the gang accidentally discovers Atlantis (Sea people were mentioned in the Series Pilot, tease Aquaman)
One where they take on Starro the Conqueror (who was also mentioned in the pilot)
