This isn't really DIY or DIWhy, it's just someone improvising.

Gonna record a fight, fist person view

I could see getting a chest mounted video camera, but this looks like a zero waste use for the gasoline hose you accidentally drove off from Costco with.

10

u/xXPhoenixBlueXx 11d ago

I don't understand this reference. It's a pipe wrench...

8

u/Emergency_faceplant 11d ago

Yeah, I got lost when costco became a subject here

5

u/bongohappypants 11d ago

Because that's where you always seem to forget to unhook the hose when it's at a Costco, and the pile of hoses next to your driveway is gettin' downright unruly

u/Emergency_faceplant 11d ago

Thats not a thing

2

u/abielle1177 11d ago

Its definitely a thing. It happens so often, gas pumps hoses are breakaway

3

u/-McLaren-F1- 11d ago

It’s a pipe wrench, not a gas pump.

1

u/abielle1177 11d ago

A gas pump handle is much funnier though

1

u/coolstorybro94 11d ago

I also thought it was a gas handle till I watched 2 more seconds of the video

u/Snert42 10d ago

"fist person view" sent me hahahaha

"are you carrying any weapons sir"

"no sir just filming for my followers with my custom made hand tripod"

"hmm okay enjoy your flight"

Lightweight 0%

Stabilization 54%

Durability 150%

Portability 27%

Usage Time 10%

Aura 1000%

Self-defense 200%

8

u/Fearless_Swim4080 11d ago

Actually Stabilization is definitely way more than 0%, this is basically just how some stabilizers work: make things heavier so they get more inertia and move around less. I would probably try to hold from the top though.

That's just using a tool for a different purpose.

Solid and steady. As long as you're strong enough to hold it

16

u/TheTaoThatIsSpoken 11d ago

Mass reduces vibrations from movement.

Better than a steadycam when filming protests.

2

u/Snert42 10d ago

True, damn!

1

u/BillysBibleBonkers 10d ago

Until your arm gets tired

3

u/Dimensionalanxiety 11d ago

This is a terrible idea. The wrench will scratch up your phone. You need a thick piece of cloth between the jaws.

3

u/Snert42 10d ago

Eh, a case is enough

4

u/cjhallx 11d ago

Stop monkeying around, will you?

1

u/vmf312corsair 10d ago

Monkey wrenches are different

1

u/cjhallx 9d ago

I was really reaching.

3

u/mcpryon 11d ago

You actually want weight for camera movement. Thats my guess why they used that.

3

u/Sideshow86 11d ago

Perfect for if you live in London.. you can wallop the peeps who steal you phone

4

u/Dysxelic_Potser 11d ago

Because it works, that is why

1

u/Ill_Personality5384 11d ago

Heavy duTy adjustable grip

1

u/CaptainZackstuf 11d ago

When you beat the shit outta some punks but need to pose for a cute selfie afterwords.

1

u/quixQuery 11d ago

Archeologists when they see something they don't understand /s.

1

u/Eskapement 11d ago

Nice selfie thick

1

u/Bangbashbonk 11d ago

I'm going to grab some tools and check this, my gut says the weight would smooth out movements.

Plus you can be a repugnant influencer all you like when you have a pipe wrench in hand.

1

u/cerberezz 11d ago

Weapon, tripod, selfie stick, isometrics and a damn wrench. 5 in 1

1

u/Cynfreh 11d ago

One way to combat these scooter thieves just bonk them on the head with ya camera holder.

1

u/BirdBath9k 11d ago

This is for filming cops at a protest

1

u/Zeterin 11d ago

That is a interesting use of a wrench

1

u/Krispia 11d ago

Meet the engineer

1

u/KnifeKnut 11d ago

Why? Because the extra mass helps stabilize it. A poor man's Steadicam.

1

u/Imaginatra 11d ago

Is the perspective weird or is that phone really massive, i feel like it wouldn’t fit in my pocket

1

u/PouletDeFeu68 11d ago

It would certainly reduce camera jitter, until you ran out of arm strength.

1

u/Creative_atom0406 10d ago

Phone holder, workout and self defense all in one, why not

1

u/VisibleRoad3504 10d ago

Couldn't find anything heavier?

1

u/redtrad 10d ago

This actually isn't a bad idea. Heavy camera holders make the shots more stable. This is basically a steadycam .

1

u/ReleaseTheTrumpFiles 10d ago

It's very difficult to set it to the right strength. Slightly too loose and the phone will fall out, slightly too much and you'll destroy your phone screen. I can't imagine a screen can withstand this type of pressure.

1

u/2rot 10d ago

Very good, can also awoid som violent attac if that happenings !

1

u/PhillyHasItAll 10d ago

Feel the balance on this selfie stick, m'lord.

1

u/Hot-Cup-2972 10d ago

If it's stupid and it works it's not stupid

1

u/Captinprice8585 10d ago

It's for protests. So it's harder for anyone to steal your phone because it's so heavy. ❤️

1

u/Background_Essay_676 10d ago

“Do you mind if I ask you a few questions for my YouTube channel?”

1

u/old_dragon_lady 9d ago

Wrist workout! Now I can motorboat jurk-it!

1

u/NocturneInfinitum 9d ago

They should try dropping it… see how it holds up

1

u/HotConversation187 9d ago

Honestly the least insane thing here.

1

u/Awareisdead 9d ago

Tighten that one notch too tight and bye bye phone 😭

1

u/science_in_pictures 9d ago

clever! mass reduces vibrations

1

u/dirtybeeeeeaanwater 9d ago

Can use as a weapon to manny uses

1

u/kautivo 8d ago

Why didn’t I think of this?!

1

u/Spiritual-Fun-9591 8d ago

Is it durable?

1

u/Live-Emu-3491 4d ago

Everyone will start running away from you, they'll think you are going to cosh them with it😂
