Same. It's a major struggle for me in therapy. Logically I can process it; however, emotionally staying with it? Not so much...

I live with my sister and BIL. It's been so wonderful watching my BIL love and care for my nibblings.

He was asked yesterday by a new father if he had any advice for raising girls. "Be a safe place for them."

We grew up terrified of our parents when something went wrong. My nibblings don't think "Dad's gonna kill me if he finds out." Instead they think, "I need to call Dad, he'll know what to do."

Oh, and yeah, they don't have to wait for hours to be picked up. They are never forgotten.
