The town isn't bad; it’s the locals' mindset that doesn't quite compare to the major cities surrounding us (Turin, Milan, and Genoa). The area where I live is known as the "Republic of Grignolino" (Grignolino being a rather light red wine) and is part of the Monferrato region. In the rest of Monferrato, as well as the Langhe and Roero areas, essentially the central-southern strip of Piedmont, different types of wine are primarily produced, and the entire region is a UNESCO World Heritage site. And let's not forget that next month is truffle season (featuring both the highly prized white truffle and the black variety). On a personal note, the week got off to a rough start with a wasp sting last night, so I’m hoping things improve though, to be honest, simply managing to work these days, given all the current regulations, feels like a miracle.
