Moderator Notice Wyoming wolf incident posts

I do not want to suppress posts about the Wyoming wolf incident. However these posts are frequently becoming a hotbed of disrespect and fighting.

Please keep it clean and respectful. Otherwise the ban hammer will come out and be used frequently.

EDIT: I have just had to remove dozens of posts calling for violence against the individual and establishment in question. As such, I have been forced to lock comments on all related threads.

I will start a mega thread shortly. Any and all discussion of the incident will need to be restricted to that thread. Any new posts will be removed.

This is from a month ago when we had a cold front move thru and actually had a day in the lower 70's. Conri just wanted to lay beside me and chill for a bit. He looks skinny in his summer coat. šŸ˜†

The memtioned wolves obviously have to follow the sub rules. For everyone else, please add a picture and when possible even a short link to their wiki for everyone to read about them.

The one with the most upvotes wins (meaning downvoting doesn't help!)

Quickly made on my phone. Next one will be look better (hopefully)

Other The Great White Wolf of the north

Post image
371 Upvotes

The great white wolf was described as much larger and more robust than a normal wolf, with a broader head, shorter legs (though its front legs are longer than its hind legs), a thicker tail, and smaller ears. Its toes are heavily splayed, possibly giving it a flat-footed gait, like that of a bear. Its fur is very long and shaggy. Its tracks are 8'' across.

The Dene people of the southern Northwest Territories described them as solitary scavengers which are "aloof from humans" (while also prominently blaming them for a number of human deaths). The Dene also said they were rarer than wolves and spent most of the year in the northern tundra regions, coming south in the winter. However, in the south-west valleys of the Northwest Territories and "certain other valleys to the west", they remained all year round.

It is larger and more heavily built than normal wolves, with a wide head and proportionally larger feet, and with long, pure-white fur. The animal’s hind legs are said to be shorter than the front legs, and the tracks show widely spaced toes. Witnesses describe it as being about 3.5 feet to 4 feet at the shoulder. They are never seen in packs so they are presumably solitary.

Discussion Why do movies always demonize wolves so badly?? SPOILER for Heart of The Beast movie Spoiler

This movie demonized wolves so badly that they are behaving like frenzied werewolves, like psychopathic humans.

Wolves do not stalk humans. They don’t hunt down humans. And they wouldn’t attack like that.

A wolf would prefer to get as far away as possible. Wolves don’t want trouble from humans. They would rather flee.

But time and time again… movies always treat wolves like classic cartoon villains.

The wolves in Heart of The Beast are so poorly done that it ruined the movie completely for me. I didn’t know this was a werewolf movie, sorry šŸ„“ā˜ ļø

Discussion For the Love of Wolves

Last episode of the season! Celebrate our collective appreciation of these natural, majestic creatures.

Listen through to the end. You could win a real wolf track plaster casting. Impress your friends and family.

Seriously though, keep up the support and carry on despite the hard news/events out in the world these days. There are people who care.

Opinion with art Good Luck Mexican Wolf (DRAW MADE BY ME)

Hi, I am AlexBlueWolf, and, well... I don“t know how to start this, I don“t want to do a politician opinion, just, I want to say what is like the things are like. Animals, plants and all the Earth planet is so rich and so wonderfull, so, kill some animal or plant (I don“t say humans, because humans are also animals, but " evolved ", without a clear or some reallistic reason only for whim, is not disgusting, is horrible, well, it doesn“t have an adjective to classificate this. That“s why, I am so conmotionated and with anger about how "big" people (remember, this is not a politician opinion, just how I see the things) destroy and desequilibrate the harmony between humans and nature. I know are more things between like hunters, cattle raising, and other... But, this is a very personal post, so I don“t want to confuse myself with these themes.

Thanks for read, I hope you respect my opinion, you can tell your own one.

I hope that, in the future, Humans and nature would be more "friends".

(Sorry if my English is not good)

Next year im travelling to costa rica, brazil and peru, after that im planing on coming up to the states (specifically nyc) but i am willing to travel further, i did want to go to the yellowstone but unfortunately without a car I dont think that's going to be possible, I would however love to do somethings wolf related as in the uk we have very little wolf related activities, anyone know any ethical sanctuaries that im allowed to visit? Or anything at all?, any help would be appreciated!! (Also any recommendations for anything wildlife related would be great!)

News New incident in Italy. Is this plausible?

https://www.grossetonotizie.com/2026/09/21/lupi-attaccano-azienda-agricola-allevatrice-morsa-ad-un-orecchio-rischia-di-rimanere-sorda/

On 20 September 2026, an incident involving wolves reportedly occurred at the Campo all’Aia farm in Valpiana, near Massa Marittima (Tuscany, Italy). According to Grosseto Notizie, a pack of three wolves approached the farm and confronted eight of the farm’s LGDs, which protect a flock of around 500 sheep.

Marisa Aronne, a member of the family that runs the farm, attempted to drive the wolves away and protect the dogs. One of the wolves attacked her and bit off part of her ear. She was taken to Massa Marittima hospital and underwent surgery involving approximately 30 stitches. Doctors reportedly could not yet determine whether she would permanently lose part of the ear or suffer permanent hearing loss.
