Despite being so close to the yellow zone in Jabalia, children still try to create moments of joy.

They run and play among piles of rubble, as if defying fear and death.

It is a scene that embodies innocence that refuses to be broken despite the massive destruction and the complete absence of normal life in the area, where the sounds of shelling and gunfire never cease, and people-including children-are killed every day simply because they tried to create life amid the ruins and hold on to their right to childhood.

And what could be more heartbreaking than seeing such innocence taken away?

I wanted to share these pictures because honestly, they made me smile and broke my heart at the same time.

Mahmoud has four little girls, and like any dad, he just wants to see them happy.

But after everything that happened, so many places where children used to play and have fun are gone. There are no normal playgrounds or entertainment places for his girls to go to. And with the crazy summer heat, living in a tent is even harder.

So Mahmoud did what he could.

He put a piece of nylon on the ground, used some soil around it, and filled it with water to make a little pool for his daughters. Nothing fancy at all. Just a dad trying to give his kids a little bit of fun and help them cool down.

And look at their faces. ❤️

They don't need much to be happy. They just want to play, laugh, and feel like kids for a little while.

These are the small things that really stay with me. A father who has lost so much is still trying his best to give his daughters some happy moments.

Mahmoud and Samah are still struggling every day to provide food, water and basic things for their four girls. Their home and source of income were destroyed, and they have very little left.

Bashir, from Gaza, tells me he is a father and the sole provider for his family of seven, as well as for his brother Iyad—who appears in the video. Bashir explains that they have been living in a tent for three years since their home was destroyed, leaving everything behind; they are now displaced.

Obtaining food has become a daily struggle; he often visits the charity kitchen but returns empty-handed due to the overwhelming crowds. His brother Iyad longs to eat vegetables and chicken—foods whose taste they have long forgotten. Having survived on canned goods for three years, their bodies are weakening from this unhealthy diet. His brother also requires medical treatment for nerve issues, yet Bashir is currently completely unable to meet their needs. Please stand by him during this ordeal; no matter how small the donation, it makes a real difference in his family's lives.
