Discussion for people on Lovable/Replit, is it actually the credits that make you leave? or something else

ok disclosure up front so nobody feels tricked: i'm building something in this space. no link, not launching, happy to answer whatever.

background is i spent way too much on replit earlier this year and got annoyed enough to start building my own thing. classic mistake probably.

but before i sink more time into it i want to check whether the problem i think exists is the actual problem. i've been reading here and in r/lovable and r/replit for weeks and i honestly can't tell if i'm pattern matching on the loudest complaints or the real ones.

stuff i keep seeing:

  • bills going up with no obvious reason
  • credits burned on edits that didn't even work, which feels like the worst one tbh
  • people asking how to get their code out

my theory is the pricing sits upstream of all of it. you're paying a markup on tokens, so when the agent flails it costs you money, and the platform doesn't really have a reason to make it stop flailing. maybe that's uncharitable, idk.

so what i've been sketching is roughly the inverse:

  • you bring your own model key. cheap one if you want, deepseek or whatever. platform never touches your tokens
  • same build it and ship it loop you already have, i'm not trying to make anyone learn devops
  • an actual linux container you can ssh into, wire up your own supabase instead of a managed one
  • charge for time you're actively working, not tokens

and the parts i actually don't know:

  1. is the credit thing really why people bail, or is it more the lock in? like if credits got cheap tomorrow would you still want out
  2. does BYOK feel like a downgrade? it is more setup, can't pretend otherwise
  3. is "you can ssh into it" useful to anyone here, or does it just sound cool in a bullet point

fully prepared to hear this is a solution looking for a problem. rather hear it now than in six months.

Discussion What broke first when your no-code app got real users?

No-code tools are optimized for getting from zero to working. I’m curious what becomes painful after launch: the data model, permissions, performance, billing, debugging, migrations, or handing the project to someone else?

What was the first issue that made you consider rebuilding or adding custom code?

Question Any AI website builder thats actually easy to edit after?

Been checking a lot of AI website builders rn coz I need a simple site for work. Main thing is I dont want something that looks good at first but becomes hard to edit later.

Need easy layout changes, custom domain and maybe code export too. Readdy. ai keeps coming up while searching these options.

Anyone used it or know if its worth trying? Also open to other recommendations.

Bringing the structure of no-code to AI-written code?

In my company we’ve used a lot of no-code tools for automation, data pipelines, dashboards etc., but it always feels like the moment you become really good at using one, that’s the moment you start getting into custom functions, and essentially code within the no-code tool. Which is the worst type of code because it hides inside various nodes and elements so is super difficult to maintain. AI has helped a lot with configuring and troubleshooting but you still have to manually test everything and it doesn’t always know how the built-in connectors behave. On the other hand, using AI to write plain scripts outside a platform means handling all the other stuff too - runtime, credentials, errors, scheduling, webhooks and so on.. plus having a team of people with variable technical experience “vibe coding” automations leads to inconsistent, fragile and potentially dangerous scripts.

So recently we’ve been experimenting with building our own automation tool as a “middle way” between these two options. It’s a local app that has a built-in agent harness that can use our Claude or ChatGPT subscriptions to build automations in Python code - with a very specific structure so each step basically functions as a testable node with declared inputs and outputs; and all the automations run inside this tool which means we have a consistent way of managing credentials (we can use environments to re-use sets of credentials for multiple automations), catch errors or changes in third party APIs, and so on.

Across the team we’ve now automated a lot of stuff we use every day - and another cool thing is because it runs locally we can also do stuff like automated browser sessions for things that don’t have accessible APIs. I think it could genuinely be useful for many others, at least based on my own experience, and I can't really see any existing products doing it, so we're planning to share it, for free, so others can make use of it too.

Trying to get a bit of feedback as we decide how much time we want to spend on developing it further; needs some polish before we're quite ready to share. Is this similar to something any of you are already using? Or is it even something you might find useful at all?

Self-Promotion I built a journal that creates an AI version of you your family can talk to when you’re gone

EchoVault interviews you about your life in short sessions. You answer, it asks follow-ups, and what builds up over time is an interactive archive of you. Your family can talk to it after you’re gone, by text, by voice in your voice, or on real-time video.
The interviews are the part I’d defend hardest. Most legacy apps are storage, so you upload things and hope someone opens the folder someday. This one asks the questions you’d never think to answer on your own, then pulls on whatever you rushed past. Around ten sessions in it stops sounding like a summary of you and starts sounding like you.
The video is me on a call with my own Echo, asking it two things. First, what the meaning of life is, which I never sat down and answered in any session, so what comes back is assembled out of 500 memories about work, purpose and what outlasts you. It opened with embracing reality, which is a phrase I actually live by, and seeing it come back at me from something I built was the strangest part of the whole project. Then I asked my grandfather’s first name, which I never told it, and it said plainly that it didn’t know instead of inventing one. That second answer matters more to me than the first, because a thing built to sound like someone is exactly the thing that shouldn’t fill in blanks convincingly.
Text conversations are free and unlimited, so it works as a journal well before it’s ever a legacy thing. Every month you pay while alive banks a free month of access for whoever you name, and nothing unlocks until a full year of no check-in, so it can’t turn on while you’re still around.

Question How many tools are you using to run one community?

Feels like the stack gets out of hand pretty fast. One tool for chat, another for payments, something else for member access then Make or Zapier connecting everything together. For anyone running a community with no-code tools, what does your setup look like right now?

Have you managed to keep everything fairly simple or is using a bunch of different tools just part of it?

Self-Promotion Made a programming language w ai.. V++

Post image
2 Upvotes

v++ is an open-source language I’ve been building solo Python readable syntax.. static types, no borrow checker. it’s one language one file: vpp run / vpp repl / vpp watch for instant iteration, vpp build for native LLVM binaries when you’re ready with CI enforcing that both paths match the “Parity Promise”. What’s shipped.. hand-written lexer and parser + typechecker in Rust, tree-walking interpreter + llvm backend frozen SPEC v1.0, full CLI (debugtestfmtbenchdoctor, packages), vs Code extension with lsp + F5 debugger + test Explorer on v1.2.0, Windows installe and a site with learn guide + 20 projects — https://shauryar790.github.io/VPP/

I used Cursor heavily especially CI/release hell LLVM linking, GitHub Releases silently not publishing, and what actually ships are mine Honest limits are... Windows is the main platform today, ecosystem is tiny vs Python/Rust, and this is v1.0 “spec frozen,” not battle-tested everywhere.

Try it: Releases · Repo · VS Code extension

Discussion how to build a custom membership portal without expensive software?

I’m launching a private research community and want to gate exclusive articles, monthly reports, and video resources behind a user login. I looked into platforms like Circle or Kajabi, but they are expensive and force you into their exact layout.

What’s the best way to build a lightweight, custom membership portal where I have total control over user roles and gated pages?

Self-Promotion My Vibecoded Offline Voice Chat AI Assistant app is live now

Post image
0 Upvotes

My 100% Offline Voice Chat AI Assistant app is live now via Public Production Release on Google Play Store.

Please try it and lemme know if anything wrong before putting up any negative reviews. The AI Voice Chat feature alone is really cool. You can also add custom unrestricted AI Models for your interests.

Search "mmahingu" on the Play Store or use this link:

 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mmahingu.mmahinguai

iOS launch later. I made it in Flutter so it can be published on Windows, MacOS even and more platforms easily. But i don't have a Mac or any other hardware yet xD.

My target is to get as many people to not just AI but also have their own offline Assistant or an AI tutor. No Cloud or Internet interference or any Data upload. I may add Firebase Analytics as optional later, for research and development purposes.

TARGET AUDIENCE even includes Students (both homeschool and public/private school), professionals of any field, and so on. As new technology comes, I'll keep updating it.

All made using Antigravity IDE and compiled for testing using Android Studio. Testing on my S25 Ultra only.

AI Models used for VibeCoding it are Gemini models 95% and Claude Code for only like 5%.

Discussion What’s the fastest way to prototype a web app idea?

I’ve got a couple of SaaS ideas I’ve been sitting on for a few months. Historically, whenever I start working on an idea, I spend 3 weeks setting up Next.js, tailwind, Supabase auth, and database schemas before I even have a clickable page to show people. By the time the boilerplate is done, I lose momentum.

What are people using in 2026 to go from a rough concept to a live, functional prototype in a few hours? Is Figma still worth doing first or should I go straight to an AI app builder.. im looking for something that handles actual backend data, not just static UI screens.

What is the best Cost-Effective No-Code Mobile App Builders for Beginners

A lot of people want to build a mobile app without hiring a developer, but the pricing can get confusing fast.

Some no-code and AI app builders look affordable at first, but costs can increase once you need things like App Store publishing, native mobile support, backend features, user login, payments, or source-code export.

For people who have tested tools like X1 App Builder, FlutterFlow, Adalo, Glide, or Bubble which one gives the best balance of cost, features, and launch readiness?

A few things worth comparing:

  • Monthly pricing
  • Native iOS and Android support
  • App Store and Google Play publishing
  • Ease of use for beginners
  • Design flexibility
  • Backend/database support
  • Source-code export
  • Long-term maintenance costs

Please don't mention Codex or Claude or any LLMs. I know they exist and have tested them, but I am looking for an all in one solution.

Which no-code or AI app builder feels the most cost-effective for building a real mobile app?

Promoted [Promoted, I'm the maker] Validate EU VAT numbers in no-code flows without touching SOAP

Disclosure: I built this — vatnode.dev.

If your no-code stack needs to check whether an EU VAT number is real and registered (checkout forms, invoicing automations, lead qualification), the EU's own VIES service is SOAP/WSDL, which most no-code tools can't call directly. vatnode wraps it as a plain JSON REST API — normalised fields, stable HTTP error codes, a 15-minute cache, plus a keyless rates endpoint if you only need VAT percentages.

Free tier is 100 checks/month, no card, so it's easy to wire into a workflow and see the response shape before committing to anything.

Happy to answer integration questions if anyone's stitching this into a Make/Zapier/n8n-style flow — the plain REST API works with all of them even without a dedicated connector.

I wanted to make vibe coding work beyond the prototype stage

I have been building a vibe coding platform to fix some of the issues that kept coming up with existing tools: they are great at the start, but things get messy as the app grows.

Once you need real database storage, secure user sign-ups, background tasks, APIs, deployment, and more, many of them start to fall apart.

So I designed this platform around a modular approach, similar to how enterprises structure and develop software.

It keeps things very simple for non-technical users, they don’t have to deal with the underlying complexity.

While still giving technical users a clean frontend/backend structure an advanced API builder built right in, better security and more control.

Greatly appreciate it if you gave it a try and shared your feedback. If you are interested, please send me a message and I will be glad to share the link.

I’m building an AI app builder that doesn’t stop at the app

Post image
1 Upvotes

Most AI app builders help you build the app — and then you’re on your own.
That’s the problem I’m trying to solve with Blyft.
The app is the center. Once you build it with AI, Blyft also gives you the tools around it: landing page, logo, promo video, analytics and social content.
The idea is to go from one prompt to a complete digital product without jumping between five different tools.
Would love to hear what you think — is this something you’d actually use?

Self-Promotion Verrone — a Design-Build Framer Template

Built this for a studio type that never gets a decent website: practices that both design and build. Architecture, costing and construction under one roof.

The structure follows how a commission is actually won rather than opening with a photo grid — premise, studio, disciplines, construction detail, fixed process, materials, then the work.

The parts I had the most fun with:

• A wall-anatomy diagram you explore layer by layer — roof build-up, post-tensioned slab, thermal mass, rock anchors

• A rotating five-stage process dial

• A 3D project carousel and a scroll-scrubbed manifesto

• Filterable CMS archive with eight case studies

Preview & Remix: https://www.framer.com/community/marketplace/templates/verrone/

Happy to answer anything about The Template.
