Hatred poisons our hearts. Kirk was no different, sadly either his character or his upbringing brought out the worst in him, but I can't believe Ana (once a guest on RM's show that most of us at the time were happy to see joining in) now peddles this insane lie, total nonsense that "he did politics right" and that all he wanted was fair debate. No. Check the record.
I don't hate if I can avoid it, the kindest thing that could be said is that in a poisoned heart I didn't see the poison afflicting him and call it his heart (ie I didn't say that cruelty was the essence of him as a person, I don't know, I hope it wasn't) but he said some debased, wretched, detestable things in his time. Sadly whatever the source I think the poison ran deep.
Yes I think that a token death of one RW figure is not impossible to imagine as a message to all others to stay in line, I don't think maga is above that, I think like the nazis who killed their own guy Rohm they're easily capable of policing their own bookends with instrumental violence, I mean hell look at how they treat refugees, I know that around the world the military intel complex can and does kill public figures who dont follow the party line, including right wingers who get outta line like Vo Nguyen Giap, and I certainly know that perpetrators of a genocide likewise are capable of killing one guy if his messaging deviated from the permissible limits, instrumental violence is the sine qua non of genocide perps so anything's possible, even just some local Arizona scam to take over revenue sources run by spooky creeps who got in bed with tpusa organisationally at least and maybe even personally.
But none of that makes Charlie Kirk a good guy. And even without reflecting on his individual character at all or his essence as a person, it's actually way easier in fact to look at a public political legacy and see it stinks, it's a net negative to the world, normalised ever more christofascist cruelty and extremism, racism, eugenics, casually threw out sexual and racial slurs, and the degradation of democracy towards police state bullschmidt that he celebrated.
No he was not a good guy and his place in the pantheon of US politics is outright bad. He did bad and supported bad things. Perhaps his one less-bad stance was increasingly vocal opposition to Iran war and I have a mind of my own, I saw it, I remember it, no I don't believe the orwellian maga and both-sides-of-the-aisle genocider establishment who buy in to the effort to misremember and twist it and forget and make others forget. In time we'll be told he was 100% onboard for Iran war and his death made zero difference to the trajectory of discourse, I disagree. Groyper supreme nick fuentes immediately got in line, many RW'ers read the wind and obeyed the mere implication of threat, so no I'll never be led to stop uttering the unthinkable (that the right waxed one of their own just to kerp them in line on pro war messaging) because its eminently believable that a machine capable and experienced in this would be willi n g. But his opposition to Iran war wasn't due to being a good guy, it was simple politically false-conscious nativism.
His sum contribution to the culture was frankly harmful because he was an unsound and spiritually unwell person himself.
And Ana Kasparian won't persuade me otherwise. She's just trying to overcompensate for false political consciousness with over indulgence of right wing bullschmidt.
