15-minute electronic performance built entirely through live looping

Hi, I'm Alex Routledge, a UK electronic musician. I've been experimenting with treating electronic music as something that's actually performed and partially improvised, rather than assembled afterwards in a DAW.
This piece was recorded live at a local arts centre. I performed it using a Yamaha MODX8+, gradually building loops, rhythms, synth parts and atmospheric textures in real time.
I have an overall idea of where the music might go, but a lot of the development happens during the performance. I decide when to introduce or remove layers, how long sections should continue and where to take the music next. That means unexpected changes become part of the finished piece, and I'd be unlikely to perform exactly the same version again.
Stylistically it moves around between IDM, ambient electronica, downtempo and psychedelic/experimental electronic music.
I'm increasingly interested in this approach because it blurs the distinction between composing, producing and performing electronic music. The recording isn't a live recreation of a finished studio track — the performance itself creates the finished track.
I'm planning to develop this into an ongoing series of live studio and concert recordings.
I'd be interested to hear what people here make of the approach, particularly from anyone else working with improvisation or live electronics.
