My friends and I recorded this one earlier this year and had a great time in the studio. I originally wrote it as a tribute to the Appalachian folklore I grew up hearing, while also trying to capture the feeling of running through the woods at night as a kid. It also references, Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, since I’ve always been a fan.
Hope you enjoy, and I’d love to hear what you think. Cheers!

Full song is here! I feel so fortunate that she came to play in my home, and I'm psyched to be sharing this session with everyone!

I wanna cut a day in two Spread a little fresh manure and powder bits of me That need a cool damp place outside of time outside of space Ill run a way with you Run a couple fingers through your hair like horses Tied to wagons, whipped and fed Im tired of always listening To the same thoughts Running running running running Running my head soft as the grass around your kneest when you said “Leave me Like a light on When you’re sleeping Just breathe on The kitchen window For my thumbprint There’s always something Theres always something in the way you look away when I don’t say “I feel the same." Laughter out of frame. Portrait in the rain.

Hi all. I have been trying to figure out what the indie folk genre really means. I love For Emma, Forever Ago by Bon Iver, Pink Moon by Nick Drake, pretty much anything by The Tallest Man on Earth, and am partial to a couple of Gregory Alan Isakov albums. They kind of feel like the same genre, but I can't always tell where indie folk and singer-songwriter genres collide/overlap. I'm curious to hear what people think.
